hey mike, i have sort of a personal quesiton, because i wanna move to the country when i am older, so i was wondering what state do you live in. I noticed the property behind you it's pretty nice :P
First off being a Life member of the NRA I support gun rights. I do not choose to practice Opne carry. My choice you do as you wish. Officer safety and Unkown potential suspect safety is always first. Handcuffing any LEO is simply silly. I have watched many vids on open carry and never, had I seen anyone have a handgun pointed at them. I am sure it has been done. Equal treatment? A LEO will give commands along with that pointed gun, I suggest doing what you are told.
Great VLOG! I think a good rule of thumb is follow LEO orders exactly. Especially when you have a weapon. One question though. If you had shot that guy would it be a justified shooting?
@superdoc8404 Yes but what a tragedy it would have been. Based on the info we had at the time and if he had not complied and made a move such as raising his gun, we would have shot him
@brotherskeepers111 The one thing I am so impressed with is that you didn't shoot the guy. In the communist state I live in officers have a shoot first ask questions later mentality. A lot of innocent people have been killed by jumpy LEOs. A LEO from Mass was shot and killed by his own officers because he was helping in a search for a black male in plane clothes. A officer shot and killed him thinking it was the armed suspect. Great job sir, stay safe.
Thanks for making this VLOG. It's important for us non-LEO's to hear about these real-world situations from your perspective. Thanks for doing what you do... I have no doubt that you're an exemplary officer. God bless.
I hadn't had a chance to watch this until tonight. Could have ended tragically, for sure. You should do more of these. Everybody likes to play Monday morning quarterback. Peace on you, my good friend.
@sabr686 Thanks man, I get lots of suggestions of what I should have done, but it is different when you have all the facts and all the time in the world to think about it. Its quite a different story when you live it and have to make split second decisions with limited info
I am going to say this first... you and your partner handled it as well as any officer could. I will say this though "uncle bob" did nothing wrong by responding. his actions after encountering you also were correct. I believe in rural areas in particular you have to look out for each other. In most cases "uncle bob" is most likely minutes closer and could have stopped something really bad from happening. I and "bob" realize and except there are risks in responding but I feel it's our duty to so.
Locally, we have had 5 Officer involved shooting within the last few months. Thanks for letting me see it from Uncle Bobs point and the sheriff's point. Great info! I've been Uncle Bob for our neighborhood a few times.
Well done Mike. Im glad everyone got out with out issue. Its tough too like you mentioned, the media would have blown it out of whack. Great job. Looking forward to the next vlog. PS: I hope you catch the guy.
You are fortunate that the unidentified guy with the gun had no intention of fighting you. You took time to warn him and let him comply which as I see it is why it takes some brass ones to be a good LEO (like you) and not abuse the people you work for (us). There are some pretty dumb guys out there with guns and I'm glad it turned out well for everyone. God bless.
@mpg827 Yes sir, he kept it by his side, if he had pointed it there would not have been any warning, just alot of shooting. But you are right, we are constantly at a disadvantage, if he had ill will he could have just hid in the shadows and shoot us in the back as we went by
Thank you for sharing with us brother, as a brother in Christ i totally agree with your statement "Its not luck, its the Grace of God" no one ever whats at acknowledge that.
It's a good thing an incident was avoided, because it could have gone badly for the officers involved as well, this is the reason why the first thing an officer is supposed to do is positively identify themselves as a peace officer or LEO, there have been several incidents were non-uniformed officers were shot on homeowner's property because the owner believed that they were intruders or burglars. I assume you where in a uniform so that's a good thing. Stay safe man!!
@brotherskeepers111 law Enforcement Officer . ok Who's laws. thats my point . and im not trying to pick a fight . but i think . you have code . and law confused . and i could go into great detail about . the difference between civil law and law of the sea . look at the prison's filled with drug addicts. just look !
@Renagadepatriot Its really tough, I dont think making drugs legal is the answer. The only exception I could see would be marijuana, but the hard drugs, never
@Renagadepatriot I dont know if you have ever seen what addiction to drugs like heroin or meth does to families, the addicts have children and spouses, who are often neglected or abused. Even if the drugs are legal, most of these addicts cant work or hold stable employment, who would hire someone strung out on that garbage. They will still need to rob and steal to support their habit. What happens to the drug dealers, they still going to make money illegally somehow.
@Renagadepatriot I agree there are far to many drug offenders in prison, but the violent ones pushing the drugs need to be, I dont believe the drug trade is victimless, The vast majority of murders, robberies, burglaries, and violent crimes are directly related to drugs. That is a fact I see it everyday, the guy breaking into your car or burglarizing your home is doing so to feed a habit. I do not think the answer is to make drugs legal, who decides which ones to make legal?
@brotherskeepers111 you have the government bringing in drugs . and the police trying to stop it . and the prisons are bursting at the seems ... you cant regulate morality they tried to during prohibition. and still are . but the bottom line is tell someone not to do something and they will do it anyway ..
@brotherskeepers111 ya me to i have a 9 year old and a 7 year old . they tend to do what they want . i am proud to be subscribed to you i do enjoy your videos . you sound like a good person God bless you and yours brother.
@Renagadepatriot Its not luck, its the Grace of God. Its the very reason we take such precaution when dealing with the unknown. Its a shame we need law enforcement, but sadly there are those amoung us who prey on the weak and promote anarchy and lawlessness.
Speaking of armed citizens, how do you handle going to a home after say 11:00 at night and knocking on the door to speak with the homeowner? You know a high % of homeowners are armed to the teeth.
In response to stories about scenarios like this, I've actually heard people say things like, "Why didn't the cop just shoot the gun out of the guy's hand?" People see way too many movies.
This never happened to be but I know the LEO that it happened to. He received a called at night, and we will 3350 was in route too. Found a person with a gun in simlar clothing an they were yelling, Police, drop the weapon, lay down. He did follow the directive. Come to find out the neighbor called him knowing he was in law enforcement. He was an FBI agent. Even LEOs off duty screw up too
@brotherskeepers111 for as dangerous as being a patrol officer can sometimes be i do not think they are paid enough however knowing only what you said in the video forcing this old man to go prone and handcuff him (probably with a knee in his back from what i've seen) i do not feel was needed why not instruct him to put the gun on the ground then preform a pat down? it sounds like what you guys did was embarrass a person who was trying to help their community
@tubevideoguy762 Respectfully, his embarrassment was the least of my concern at that point. When dealing with the unknown you need maximum control, in this case an armed individual who possibly could be the suspect. Proning someone out is the way it is done, unfortunately officers are killed all the time by not taking complete control of the suspect, police work is not pretty most of the time and it is not for everyone. You might feel differently if you were in my shoes
@brotherskeepers111 ahh but still why does it always seem like watching police video they have people lay flat on the ground often times asking them to cross their legs among other things it sounds like handcuffs and the embarrassment they bring could have been avoided by telling the person put his gun down then go up and quick pat down for other weapons again i am NOT anti law enforcement a person who i've know for years since high school is a u.s. marshal
@tubevideoguy762 In this case he wasnt harmed or injured, he was completely cooperative, there was no wrestling or grappling involved, he was simply handcuffed and then stood up. Subjects who actively resist or were caught and tackled while running is different and it is usually more physical when they are being handcuffed. I appreciate your input my friend, sometimes non leo's do not understand why we do certain things, I am trying to get the word out and explain it better
@tubevideoguy762 And again it is all about control, I can control your actions better if you are face down than if I am standing face to face with you, it puts me at a disadvantage, when in fact the suspect should always be the one at the disadvantage
@brotherskeepers111 alright i get where you're coming from i've never been in your line of work nor would i ever want to be due to the stresses of that job and obviously i wasn't there in the situation you described but i don't see how if someone is facing away from you standing with their hands on their head allowing for a quick pat down i can't see how you are at the disadvantage
@tubevideoguy762 Don't you think it would be immensely easier for a subject to make a move if he were standing up versus on the ground? Hands unrestrained, on his head or not, surely you can agree that IF his intentions were bad, his mobility, physicality, and options are all WAY WAY more varied if he's standing versus on the ground.
@rellovkrik it would be easier but there's a balance in the use of force why cannot the police break into everybodys house then they'd know if there's weapons in them by your logic that would make it harder to "make a move" judging by the story this man told i dont think handcuff were needed
@tubevideoguy762 Lets see here at night responding to a guy with a gun call. No one knows if this is the guy or not, and he was supposed to worry about embarrassing the guy?? Nope sorry you lay on your face and get silver or as mine are Blue!! Jewelry. Then we sort it out and if you are who you say you are they come off. Good work man glad it came out fine. Could have been tragic.
@Sigp229TRT i considered everything he talked about and it did not have to be that way period no cuffs were needed and officer safety would not have been decreased.
@tubevideoguy762 You are uninformed in basic LEO SOP. Feel good stuff like you would seem to want are risky and silly. The cuffs go on and like I said, after I know you are what you SAY you are they come off. Like it or not. No one gets hurt if you have hurt feelings from the cuffing sorry man now run along. The only time you KNOW officer safety was fine is AFTER the event is over. Not during it when dealing with an unkown with a weapon.
@Sigp229TRT sorry man now run along? why is it people do not handcuff police for "displaying" a firearm? exactly the mere sight of a gun should be enough to handcuff somebody many people have this thing called pride and placing them in restraints makes them appear as if they've done something wrong the fact is law enforcement is obligated to walk a fine line or else the public and police will end up getting hurt
@tubevideoguy762 Pride never enters into any of this. I respond to a "man with a gun" call and run into a Man with a gun he gets cuffed, until who he is and what he is doing is figured out. If that hurts his pride I am sorry but that is the way it is. My hangun is in a holster, if it comes out it is becouse I believe Deadly Force may be needed. It is never displayed.
@Sigp229TRT yeah right and if this "man with a guns" was in a holster you wouldn't handcuff him yes you would and you do not see groups of citizens handcuffing and detaining police for that very reason i do not see this as anything near equal treatment for example the many open carry videos on youtube holstered weapons got pistols pointed at them by police over nothing which normally would put someone in fear for their life justifying an appropriate response
When we have a situation in my neighborhood (and we have them on a monthly basis) I never leave my yard with my gun. As soon as I can see red and blue flasher...the gun goes back in the house. I am there as a preventative and to protect my family and propety...until the police arrive. Once they get there, the gun goes up, and I stay out of their way.
I know you probably don't remember this but what kind of gun did he have?? LOL i know that might be a weird question but for some reason i'm just curious, and Mike you have a NICE piece of land there, i'm JEALOUS!! Take care brother!
I got to watching this a little late, had to check out part one but I thought you were dealing with the suspect and figured that he might have taken off running. Glad it all worked out and that the uncle did the right thing and complied with the commands
Just thought it bared mentioning If you did not have to spend the time Cuffing and interviewing Uncle Bob, you might have had a better chance to catch the real bad guy. Folks don't think about this, but I know from experience that it is true
@brotherskeepers111 If I was uncle bob I would have stayed in the house with my loved ones to defend them.He left his family defenceless when he went on the offensive.
great vid. you know I dont envy your posistion having to make split second choices like that does he die? do you wait til you know for sure he is a threat and run the risk of death yourself I couldnt do it my hats off to you
I'd like to see your point of view on the cops during riots when they start beating people for no reason. I'm positive you would never do that, you don't seem like that kind of guy, but it would be cool to hear your opinion. Those people give police officers a bad reputation.
@PureR4ge I would never beat anyone without a reason, that is true. I believe the vast majority of officers are good people, there are bad apples in every barrel, unfortunately we are all judged because of the actions of a few
There was a police shooting caught on tape on liveleakDOTcom at a car's jr. fast food joint.... the suspect was shot in the face by a taser but he didn't go down. The suspect had this ax.... crow bar looking thing on him and when he went towards the LEO who had tased him.... the K-9 officer shot the hell out of the bad guy and I am pretty sure the bad guy died. But in the situation I would have done the same. You go towards a cop with a deadly weapon, you gonna die... period.
Great videos brother, I was anxious to find out the outcome from the 1st video. The only reason I got it right in the 1st video comments is because you said "you guys might be surprised". I think otherwise I would have guessed that the suspect was shot.
great story, I was listen to local scanner just last night here , 911 callcame in , kids home alone someone kicked the basement door in,2 officer's went looked around saw 2 subject's with bat's in basement, guess what to good thinking of the officer tehy clarified the 3 kid's went downstair's with bat's prepared for the intruder.
Glad everything turned out okay. We have just had two officer involved shootings in our area and the media is having a field day with it. One was a U.S. Marshal who was serving a warrant and the guy tried to ram the Marshal with his car. The other was a guy with a knife and B.P. vest. The Taser didn't work and both men were killed. Great series I hope. Be careful out there.
good vids, thanks for sharing your angle on this. very good info.i appreciate your willingness to go out each day and serve your community in this capacity. stay safe.
Intense story Brother. My opinion of cops is a love/hate them. Police have one of the hardest if not hardest job i can think of. They deal with the worst of society, gather evidence against people, and save lives. Thanks for sharing the story.
Thanks brother Mike, My self and my partner encountered a suspect hidden behind a dumpster he had chucked his loot in. On a hunch I got down and showed my light under it and saw his feet and shoes.
He refused to come out so I told him he would walk kind of funny with one foot shot off.
He came out and walked free. The victims of the theft refused to sign a complaint.
Since his refusal wasn't aggressive in nature we let him go with strong advice.
@ModelDX1 That happens alot, we do all the leg work and they refuse to cooperate or they do not show up for court. Its cool, i did my job, its on them at that point
The situation you described is exactly why as a civilian my role is not to hunt down the home invader. My role is to secure my family and myself in a location within the home and provide the necessary armed self defense.
If my family + myself are already safe inside the home it's a tactical mistake to go outside and physically confront the trespasser. In that scenario I quickly call the police & continue to quietly observe the situation while staying on the phone with 911 and staying inside my home.
@Everett07630 If this trespasser attempts to entire my home, at that point I yell for him / her to stop & warn him / her that I've called the called the police. If they continue their attempt to breach my home, I warn them that I'm armed & I consider their actions a threat. If they enter I shoot. Not a situation I ever want to be in.

You might feel differently if you were in my shoes
brotherskeepers111 1 month ago
@tubevideoguy762 lol, actually he was younger than me, but I think of myself as old also
brotherskeepers111 1 month ago
@brotherskeepers111 ahh but still why does it always seem like watching police video they have people lay flat on the ground often times asking them to cross their legs among other things it sounds like handcuffs and the embarrassment they bring could have been avoided by telling the person put his gun down then go up and quick pat down for other weapons again i am NOT anti law enforcement a person who i've know for years since high school is a u.s. marshal
tubevideoguy762 1 month ago
@tubevideoguy762 In this case he wasnt harmed or injured, he was completely cooperative, there was no wrestling or grappling involved, he was simply handcuffed and then stood up. Subjects who actively resist or were caught and tackled while running is different and it is usually more physical when they are being handcuffed. I appreciate your input my friend, sometimes non leo's do not understand why we do certain things, I am trying to get the word out and explain it better
brotherskeepers111 1 month ago
@tubevideoguy762 And again it is all about control, I can control your actions better if you are face down than if I am standing face to face with you, it puts me at a disadvantage, when in fact the suspect should always be the one at the disadvantage
brotherskeepers111 1 month ago
@brotherskeepers111 alright i get where you're coming from i've never been in your line of work nor would i ever want to be due to the stresses of that job and obviously i wasn't there in the situation you described but i don't see how if someone is facing away from you standing with their hands on their head allowing for a quick pat down i can't see how you are at the disadvantage
tubevideoguy762 1 month ago
@tubevideoguy762 Don't you think it would be immensely easier for a subject to make a move if he were standing up versus on the ground? Hands unrestrained, on his head or not, surely you can agree that IF his intentions were bad, his mobility, physicality, and options are all WAY WAY more varied if he's standing versus on the ground.
rellovkrik 1 month ago
@rellovkrik it would be easier but there's a balance in the use of force why cannot the police break into everybodys house then they'd know if there's weapons in them by your logic that would make it harder to "make a move" judging by the story this man told i dont think handcuff were needed
tubevideoguy762 1 month ago
@tubevideoguy762 Dude...do YOU even understand what you just wrote?

@tubevideoguy762 Lets see here at night responding to a guy with a gun call. No one knows if this is the guy or not, and he was supposed to worry about embarrassing the guy?? Nope sorry you lay on your face and get silver or as mine are Blue!! Jewelry. Then we sort it out and if you are who you say you are they come off. Good work man glad it came out fine. Could have been tragic.
Shoot,Move.......Live!!
Sigp229TRT 3 weeks ago
@Sigp229TRT i considered everything he talked about and it did not have to be that way period no cuffs were needed and officer safety would not have been decreased.
tubevideoguy762 3 weeks ago
@tubevideoguy762 You are uninformed in basic LEO SOP. Feel good stuff like you would seem to want are risky and silly. The cuffs go on and like I said, after I know you are what you SAY you are they come off. Like it or not. No one gets hurt if you have hurt feelings from the cuffing sorry man now run along. The only time you KNOW officer safety was fine is AFTER the event is over. Not during it when dealing with an unkown with a weapon.
Shoot,Move........Live!!
Sigp229TRT 3 weeks ago
@Sigp229TRT sorry man now run along? why is it people do not handcuff police for "displaying" a firearm? exactly the mere sight of a gun should be enough to handcuff somebody many people have this thing called pride and placing them in restraints makes them appear as if they've done something wrong the fact is law enforcement is obligated to walk a fine line or else the public and police will end up getting hurt
tubevideoguy762 3 weeks ago
@tubevideoguy762 Pride never enters into any of this. I respond to a "man with a gun" call and run into a Man with a gun he gets cuffed, until who he is and what he is doing is figured out. If that hurts his pride I am sorry but that is the way it is. My hangun is in a holster, if it comes out it is becouse I believe Deadly Force may be needed. It is never displayed.
Sigp229TRT 3 weeks ago
@Sigp229TRT yeah right and if this "man with a guns" was in a holster you wouldn't handcuff him yes you would and you do not see groups of citizens handcuffing and detaining police for that very reason i do not see this as anything near equal treatment for example the many open carry videos on youtube holstered weapons got pistols pointed at them by police over nothing which normally would put someone in fear for their life justifying an appropriate response
tubevideoguy762 3 weeks ago
When we have a situation in my neighborhood (and we have them on a monthly basis) I never leave my yard with my gun. As soon as I can see red and blue flasher...the gun goes back in the house. I am there as a preventative and to protect my family and propety...until the police arrive. Once they get there, the gun goes up, and I stay out of their way.

I'd like to see your point of view on the cops during riots when they start beating people for no reason. I'm positive you would never do that, you don't seem like that kind of guy, but it would be cool to hear your opinion. Those people give police officers a bad reputation.
Awesome story :D
PureR4ge 1 month ago
@PureR4ge I would never beat anyone without a reason, that is true. I believe the vast majority of officers are good people, there are bad apples in every barrel, unfortunately we are all judged because of the actions of a few
brotherskeepers111 1 month ago
There was a police shooting caught on tape on liveleakDOTcom at a car's jr. fast food joint.... the suspect was shot in the face by a taser but he didn't go down. The suspect had this ax.... crow bar looking thing on him and when he went towards the LEO who had tased him.... the K-9 officer shot the hell out of the bad guy and I am pretty sure the bad guy died. But in the situation I would have done the same. You go towards a cop with a deadly weapon, you gonna die... period.

The situation you described is exactly why as a civilian my role is not to hunt down the home invader. My role is to secure my family and myself in a location within the home and provide the necessary armed self defense.
Everett07630 1 month ago
@Everett07630 I agree and good point, defend ones castle, when you leave and go on the offensive, that is where it gets sticky
brotherskeepers111 1 month ago 2
If my family + myself are already safe inside the home it's a tactical mistake to go outside and physically confront the trespasser. In that scenario I quickly call the police & continue to quietly observe the situation while staying on the phone with 911 and staying inside my home.
Everett07630 1 month ago
@Everett07630 If this trespasser attempts to entire my home, at that point I yell for him / her to stop & warn him / her that I've called the called the police. If they continue their attempt to breach my home, I warn them that I'm armed & I consider their actions a threat. If they enter I shoot. Not a situation I ever want to be in.
