@nym685 What do you mean yeah right, when the gamecocks grow some and win a BCS title then you can talk.....Till then The Spirit of Troy Lives on! Fight On! Go Trojans!
although i don't like usc that much, i really love this arrangement of umbrella, i think i've listen to it about 20 times already and it's only been 3 days since i found this. still not tired of it. I really want to use this for my band, if anyone knows where i can get this arrangement (or close to it) can you reply to me? please and thank you :]
@edeOKOT3 Esta no es la banda de la Universidad del Sur de California. Es la banda de la Universidad de Carolina del Sur. Ay mejores bandas en los Estados Unidos, como las de Ohio State y UCLA.
And you can clearly hear the brass putting out a lot of sound. I doubt though, this was recorded with something that has good pick up range. I can hear all the highs but just barely the lows I know are there.
Hey 347826able...You seem a bit stuck on "Sound." I checked out the PVAMU version and it was too "choppy" and overblown. When I said that this (USC) was the best rendition that I've heard...I was speaking about musicianship, the clarity of the performance, and balance of sound. I could hear every instruments part. So, it's not always about how loud you play it, but how well you play it. Plus, they were having fun and it wasn't a rigid performance.
@nkelly151 dude pvamu is a showband so they are suppose to sound like that and that is how black music is suppose to be played. this band doesnt do this song justice. but this is a good arrangement
@347826able "How black music is suppose to be played?" WHAT? Are you serious. PVAMU a showband? I played in an HBCU band for 4 years and was the Drum-major for 2 of them....I also pledged a certain music frat...so I think I'm a bit qualified to talk about how black music is suppposed to sound....if we even have to call it that. While I value your opinion....I'm gonna take it as just that. You seem to have had way too much PVAMU kool-aid.
Agreed. The brass section is great. The slightly faster tempo is perfect for a marching band performance. Based on the videos on youtube, the University of South Carolina plays excellent arrangements. I say that as an amateur pianist & University of Southern California grad-school loyalty can't kill my musical ear.
COMING FROM A MUSICIAN, THIS IS THE BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG.
