I don't get it, I thought Cloud was never really strong, how did he become so strong if he was never got into soldier, (cuz i thought zack said from Advent Children that he never got into soldier) and how do the Shinra people (i.e. Prof. Hojo, and the President) know him?
@SceneKidzRocks He became strong from the mako crap he was put in for 4 years with Zack I believe, and Hojo and the president know him because he was Hojo's "test subject" that escaped so he was made a big deal of.
@SceneKidzRocks Cloud never made it into SOLDIER because he was mentally weak due to his troubled childhood and insecuritites. He did pretty well in all the physical tests and if you see some of the flashbacks in this game it's show that Cloud is a pretty good fighter actually (not Zack strong but very competent) and remember he was the only he could keep up with Zack's pace when crossing the mountain.

They don't die. I would like to explain you what happens but my english is very bad. After the fight, Hojo introduces them jenova celulas and then they escape. When they are arriving to midgar shinra soldiers attack them and zack dies defending his friend Cloud. Then the sotry continues with FF7, with Cloud like main character.

So, pieces are missing and wrong in Clouds "memories".
@MRn0bl3 I could be wrong, but I think if one of their games are really successful, as this one was, they make prequels and/or sequels 'cause it's sort of like a guarantee that people will buy it. I hope that answers your questions, but if you have more, you can go on the Final Fantasy Wiki.

@KdHeartsXFinFantasy Hojo helped procreate Sephiroth. He even says in FF7 himself. if you haven't played the game (PS1), I strongly encourage you to. It gives more insight into the compilation than this game, like pieces to a puzzle.

@xAznSkyxx all those injected with Jenova cells are like brothers and sisters, hence AC's 3 fags calling each other brothers, and cloud their brother, and saying Jenovas their mom they had Jenova cells they just didnt have enough of it and to be like Sephiroth...you had to have almost half your system with it...so, sephi isnt Clouds father, as funny as that would be though cause cloud owned his ass so many times, they're just like brothers with the same certain cells running through them

@xAznSkyxx no, Cloud, he wasnt twisted he just lost his memory, my guess is they just get like a side effect and since zack was special or something he didnt get one. Sephiroth has Jenova cells before he was born and he only went crazy when he was...idk 20-40 dont know how old he is, so yea

also cloud gets sick from mako 2 times in ff7, as all cetra would because their bodies are more in tuned with natural mako aka the life stream. Ive gone over the game/story over and over and the hints are always there about clouds strength and untold powers hence why the remenants call him big brother as they were made by jenova/sephiroth, also in the mansion sephiroth pointed out that cloud was a remaining cetra......... FF7 is EPIC

If you realy play all the way through FF7 and watch the movie you would see that cloud is the only one that can beat sephiroth, also at the end of FF7 cloud hears the voices at the very end and says, I am begining to understand now. He is the 2nd final cetra, He is like the protector ancient and his love is the emotional healing light cetra. Cloud gets out of the mako tube and as all the other soldiers take the mako, The story is that an ancient would get sick from the mako that man created
