I had an '85. Run away while you can! Seriously though, lots of problems. It left me stranded on the highway once 250 miles away from home and 20 miles away from the nearest town, on Christmas Eve nonetheless. Handling and ride were graet though...
@Henzzman Still faster, old american cars were garbage. The original (production ended in 84) 1.8 8 valve GTi and jetta GLi were faster than the 1974 5.7L V8 GTO. In a strait line, 0-60, 1/4 mile, and would run circles around it on a track.
@RCkid8 I know I had one and I fucking hated it. My brakes failed on mine and I drove for 6 months ripping the e-brake.Took me almost 1/4 mile to stop going 45mph.
@Poncho4NCVox Are you serious, we used to have an '85 Jetta and it'd stop on a dime. The Chevette on the other hand, you'd have to throw an anchor out the back to stop it.
