im sure you are going to like it when you have to pay $900 in tax later on down the track to cover this nice sweet $900 payout right now .... Are you that stupid to think that this comes all for "free" and was just created out of thin air ??? You really need to study economics...
just on the matter at hand i would spend that $900 on a ticket to thailand and go to a bar and australain bar? slap those pricks whom arrested that girl for the bar mat incodent and then i would flush a can of boiling vb down there throats just to enforce what a joke they are, ps glad to hear shes back with her kids SHAUN MANGROVE MT NSW AUSTRALIA
Despite the higher cost of living, it still remains surprisingly popular! I'll admit my tendency to impulse-buy was higher this month as a result of Kevins package, though I remain wary of the government debt that'll have to be paid off via our tax dollars...
hey mate K Rudd employs some one to twitter for him off course probably more then one person.
but yeah its funny because the stimulus package was meant to stimulate the Australian economy but i live in Germany so Angela Merkel should be pretty happy.
Kevin is following me now, I can't believe it, I started following him and said... hello I am on the other side of the planet, in Regina Saskatchewan.
$900 stimulus package while superfunds are being gutted. Mine lost $7,000 and that was just this year. It reminds me of the conmen with the three nut shells.
so then what's your solution to the iimpending recession...do nothing? where in a unforseen crisis now and that calls for drastic measures. if we did nothing now, we'd be in trouble and the future generations would be in a lot of trouble. and to add to the first thing you said, it's not just a sad day for australia, but for the entire world. we had to do something now otherwise future generations would have to pay a higher price than $6000.
Notorious... saw Something as a better thing to do than Nothing.
Not always. Throwing another sacrifice into the volcano to improve the weather is Something. But it makes no difference. So in that case Nothing is much better.
i still havent got mine and i meet the criteria or at least i think i do from what they say on the news and the paper oh well ill wait patiently. and is it true that we should contact the taxation dept after the 12th may if we havent recieved it yet?
$900 won't stimulate the economy through the duration of the crisis. billions of dollars the next generation will have to pay in tax 10 fold. This stimulus package is all well and good, woohoo free $900.. $900 isn't going to be much good to john down the street when he gets sacked because the companies can't keep him on. A stupid move from Rudd. The money should have gone to infrastructure. Infrastructure is the backbone of employment. the more infrastructure, the more jobs.
Finally someone with a brain and not to mention dragging this recession out for a lot longer than it has to. I don't know there seems to be a lot of people that can't see 5 mins in fort of their face.
If TAFE would've told me I could enrol on the actual enrolment dates instead of telling me to come back on orientation day and enrol, I would've gotten two payments.
I thought I might have a chance with that "special administrative scheme" thing, but noooo, it was only for people who hadn't already had their wallet stimulated.
Gotta love how rules regarding centrelink payments are only subjective when it'll save them money.
dont think me and my family are going to get the 900 because it is only for people who make less then 100 thousand dollars a year. well i think it is because they were the rules last time the gov done that and it wasnt long ago, sometime around xmas.
The government gave us the 900, but in future they will rise income tax by a percentage not a fixed rate. Remember when its a percentage ,the more you work the higher they take back. So in the end dont be soo excited .
Im sure most people will be spending it on booze. 900 dollars can by 19 cartons of alcohol. thats like 450 bottles of Heineken. Btw this guy sounds like a douche.
I'm spending my $900 on groceries, the amount supermarkets charge these days 900 dollars is about 3-4 weeks of food. But I just wanted to say I think it's extremely pour how old retired people, who early last year were very comfortable, now lost almost everything in their super, are now not eligible for this $900 because they haven't lodged a tax return in the last few years. They work hard all their life, never claim any benefits like the doll and now, they can't even get this one time payment.
Can't believ sum ppl saying the gov't shoulda spent the money on skoolz, roads n hospitals. Waz da deal there? For a start, I dun has any kidz, I dun drive a car and has neva bin in a hospital. unfortuntately you wont get the money , to qualify for this bonus you have to have actually paid tax, so getting all your money back or a refund would exempt you.
They hand it out knowing most of it goes back. Well at least 10% does for a start. All goods or services will generate (GST). All bills up to 40% Oh and lets not forget the banks, they will benefit from the money. The same pigs that put us in this mess. I'm sure there is a lot of people behind with the banks. Living in this shit up hill society. The government has in affect given the international bankers (CCard) the money that was intended for our future.. and the masses are ok with that?
10% doesn't have to go back to GST. It doesn't if you spend it all over the internet at overseas sites or at Ebay. No GST is paid if you spend it all in the cash economy (eg on drugs, unlicensed prostitutes, suburban markets etc.)
Hmm, Well although I gladly accept the $900 (just received mine today) I don't actually think its that great an idea, I mean surely we could have used it to do something more long term. As for spending it I think I'll get my window fixed pay some bills and buy a DVD or two.
I spent $1500 on my car, checked my bank account then I still had plenty left. Wondering how this could be so I noticed a deposit of $900. Interesting I was not notified of this...
Keep checking your accounts, I don't think they tell you lol
I'm a good Australian, I spent double what the Federal Govt gave me on Productive Expenses, but it kinda ended up half a world away. Frigin State govt may get GST (including 10% postage) and up to $50 for customs for the Fed Govt. Woo tariff free though. I SHOULD be able to claim frigin GST but frigin can't which is against the point of the Goods and Services tax.
It's interesting to note that no one is thinking about HOW these stimulus will cause huge inflation and make this whole crisis worse in the long run by devaluing our currency.
There are no brains in Canberra/Washington/London/etc. I'm going to make a video response.

900 dollars is a panacea for the masses. It is a trade off for time. The government does not want to admit that they were not prepared for a recession, hence they are feeding you a little bit of money so that you are distracted with your new iphone and forget that you are unemployed.
no we don't have to give it back... that would be just pointless...
it is good we are getting this money the strategy is good, spending our money on goods and services which will increase company profits and the share market value but i don't think it is going to work it will just take some time the share market to increase in value a few stimulus packages won't fix it but yes will slightly reduce the effects short term.
to the people attacking pensions, i am a pensioner due to a severe back and brain issue but i also work and pay my taxes and go to uni full time. Between that I just get by and yes we did get something last year but thats because we get so little. A little bonus for the pensioners who work would have been very helpful, might pay for my medical bills one month.
I'm studying, I got a bonus end of last year of $1000, the $950 stimulus package last month and getting another $900 for the tax bonus. I don't know there's three payments but I'm not complaining..
Here, here! I am with you all the way buddy. Finish the Monash and put the speed limit back up to 100. In fact, while they are at it, fix the crippled rail infrastructure or the Westgate bridge or Sydney's 1 way city roads.
and it is doing something productive stimulating the economy thats why its called the stimulas package.
More roadwork is most likely to be done during the economic crisis cause its cheaper than major projects and provides employment so i'm sure this fwy will be finished sooner or later
no wonder that country is in such a shit state, Mr Krudd *cough cough* is spending all day on a computer typing away on a social networking site.
come on people wake up, do you seriously think that oprah, krudd, mr obama or any celebrity actualy sits down or has ever seen there own stupid pages on social networking sites?
I dont get the money something about not paying any tax but i did my tax it was like $150 I was going on a holiday for my 19th birthday but not anymore :(

stared spending it on local small businesses on Anzac day, Dog beds, Hardware, take the wife out for tea somewhere nice, what go's round comes around...Thanks Kevin...He acted ...Just didnt dictate policy
this money that kevins using to by friends with would have bee far better used to build a high speed rail link between the capital cities. with enough leeft over to bring back the commisioner for housing loans. see the banks didnt pass on the interest savings even though the taxpayers bailed out the banks and business.
if he is one of kevins PR people he can pass that on to him. twitter is the right word for his advisers.
thats what you get for hiring uni grads. wankers or twitters.

wtf, how does youtube know to put those muslim ads there, with singlemuslim (dotcom) and stuff, and the ad that pops up at the start too... it's not like he mentions his race or anything in the description, he's as true blue australian as any of us here in aus, but HOW does youtube know to put those specific ads on this page alone? it's the same thing with some other videos and other topics too!
I lost my job and we've been struggling on a single income for months. I have about $2,000 worth of bills here, a $600 power bills (powers about to be cut, so I'll put in on that).
I just had major (and expensive) surgery that has put me out of work for the next several months. I wouldn't have had enough money to pay my rent during this time. But Rudd's stimulus money has saved my life. I've now paid my rent well in advance, and have leftover cash to buy my medicine.
Give Rudd a break. His stimulus package includes long-term solutions to boost the economy. But I am glad it also includes a short-term solution to help us simply GET THROUGH this year. I am thankful.
I get both and im a low income student working casual. Centrelink's $950 for being on a pension (youth allowance) at 3 february 2009, and $900 from ATO for lodging a tax return last year and earning less than 100k. Call people, there might've been a stuff up; there was for me.

TrueBlueAustralian: If u are a student that has worked, u get some uni one, and u also get lasts years one ( the up to 900 )
spadastunter 2 years ago
If your studying F/T - $900
And
If you lodged Tax Return For 08 -$900 if you both you get it twice!
Marystrangr 2 years ago
Why would people studying need it twice...or deserve..
TrueBlueAustralian 2 years ago
I'm studying, I got a bonus end of last year of $1000, the $950 stimulus package last month and getting another $900 for the tax bonus. I don't know there's three payments but I'm not complaining..
jbonna 2 years ago
it's a fucken joke. I don't want his fucking money. Do something productive, maybe finish the goddamn Monash fwy already.
bushyguitar 2 years ago
Here, here! I am with you all the way buddy. Finish the Monash and put the speed limit back up to 100. In fact, while they are at it, fix the crippled rail infrastructure or the Westgate bridge or Sydney's 1 way city roads.
greypuppet 2 years ago
what you got too much money or something?
and it is doing something productive stimulating the economy thats why its called the stimulas package.
More roadwork is most likely to be done during the economic crisis cause its cheaper than major projects and provides employment so i'm sure this fwy will be finished sooner or later

this money that kevins using to by friends with would have bee far better used to build a high speed rail link between the capital cities. with enough leeft over to bring back the commisioner for housing loans. see the banks didnt pass on the interest savings even though the taxpayers bailed out the banks and business.
if he is one of kevins PR people he can pass that on to him. twitter is the right word for his advisers.
thats what you get for hiring uni grads. wankers or twitters.

wtf, how does youtube know to put those muslim ads there, with singlemuslim (dotcom) and stuff, and the ad that pops up at the start too... it's not like he mentions his race or anything in the description, he's as true blue australian as any of us here in aus, but HOW does youtube know to put those specific ads on this page alone? it's the same thing with some other videos and other topics too!

It should be called the "Buy yourself a Chinese LCD television" bonus.
Kevin Rudd is trying to stimulate China's economy and ensure that every child has a flat-screen tv on their wall.
biggeorge77 2 years ago
Maybe they should just give us all LCD tv instead..!

symphonie07 2 years ago
I just had major (and expensive) surgery that has put me out of work for the next several months. I wouldn't have had enough money to pay my rent during this time. But Rudd's stimulus money has saved my life. I've now paid my rent well in advance, and have leftover cash to buy my medicine.
Give Rudd a break. His stimulus package includes long-term solutions to boost the economy. But I am glad it also includes a short-term solution to help us simply GET THROUGH this year. I am thankful.

Fuck you dole bludgers and pensioners.
You got your $900 last year, and in many cases, most of them got $1400
Its about time we get a gift, although its only from our own tax.
LOLLOLLOLLLLOL 2 years ago
Dole bludgers get anything at all, unless they start studying. Get your facts straight.
XrotarebiL 2 years ago
I wont get anything as a low income earner student who works part time and on the pension...you would think there would be something for that
kirafaye 2 years ago
students get 900 as well
EmilyHarderFanatic 2 years ago
If you talk to Centrelink, you can get an education entry payment and the $950 will be attached to that.
You also would've gotten $1400 last year. Best to double check.
XrotarebiL 2 years ago
I get both and im a low income student working casual. Centrelink's $950 for being on a pension (youth allowance) at 3 february 2009, and $900 from ATO for lodging a tax return last year and earning less than 100k. Call people, there might've been a stuff up; there was for me.
