I've been a listener to Weekend Edition for years but I have never before seen any of these people. I had to close my eye to hear their voices, and then open them to see what they looked like. This video was a real treat.
This video was such a treat! I listen to NPR Sunday Puzzle on my ipod while exercising outside. Sometimes blurting out the answers to the amazement to anyone else within earshot. My family and the Shortzs were neighbors in central Indiana back in the 1950's. The entire Shortz family is brilliant. Hey Will join me for a scrabble game on the Internet Scrabble Club, I play several hours a day. I'm Catspjs and I've logged over 30,000 games in 5 years.
I actually cried a little when I heard this segment on the show. I have been listening for at least 11 years and when I heard that this one was filmed I couldn't wait to watch. Very cool! Congrats on 20 awesome years!
Liane, CONGRATULATIONS on 20 wonderful years! I've been listening since WESunday started and have the highest respect for the consistently exceptional work you and the whole staff at NPR do every day, week after week, year after year. You have given us a 2nd golden age or radio!
My family growing up used to send cassette recordings of narration and spoken letters to each other back in the day, and hearing the NPR voices each week for the news is like getting a new letter from them again, or rediscovering an old recorded letter from a long-passed relative. It's great every time, even when the news is sour ^_^
Its great, hearing these voices for years, and finally seeing the faces behind them. It seems like I create images of what they look like in my head, and its always surprising when I actually see them.
I believe all women suffer from a mild and extremely localized form of Tourette Syndrome. The afflicted organ? Their tongues. Thats why women cannot shut their fucking mouths for ten seconds while adults are speaking around them. Their tongues are battling around in their mouths like drunken Vipers.

Will overlooked a couple of alternative answers in the initial Q&A...
Golf and poker: the answer could also be clubs
Bridge and baseball: the answer could also be rubber

What a treat to see the faces behind those familiar voices. No money wasted on Miss Clarol for those folks!
