1/2 oz will boil 2 cups, so if the highest setting burns that in under 11 min, that should be how long it takes to boil 2 cups. barring heat sinks in the cookset. Your baffle in the image looks like it may be the diameter of a tealight cup which may explain the 10-11 min limit since that is the time a tealight boils 2 cups. I wonder what the boil time of the original Featherfire is?
I look at your stoves with the same awe as one might have looking at gold. Nice craftsmanship, Joshua!
Thanks, Tim! This was in the beginning of my experimentation on a mini FeatherFire Knockoff. I am about to do a Proto#6 soon here. It is improved immensely from this version. Thanks for the compliment! Peace.
The two of us and IrrationalSolutions. We freely share information, so I guess we could be said to be "working together", but our individual designs are unique to the individual. If you check out my proto #4, you will see I take it in a slightly different direction. That is also about as close as I come to making a how-to on it. The slightly tricky part is the screw mechanism, but I try to provide close-ups of it so if you are shop-inclined, you can figure out the idea. I hope that helps! Peace.
I don't know about perfect. I think there is still plenty of room for improvement. Example, while the stove is very easy on fuel, the capacity is very limited. If I get around to it anytime soon, I wish to try a more full sized version and attempt to get the original designers 2oz. fuel capacity. If I can and keep it lighter that his/hers (51g.) I think that would be something. There is always room for improvement. Thanks for the comment and compliment, all the same! Peace.
Between yourself and NCHiker1970, all credit is given by me. Also, of course, to the original designer of the FeatherFire. After I work on making a version of NCHiker1970's percolator and on my Jet stove, I'm thinking of trying to make a fuller-sized version. We'll see. It really depends on whether you 2 beat me to it! Either way, one of us will. Thanks for the comment, my friend! Peace.
Josh you always amaze me. You built a wonderful stove my friend and impressed me once again. I agree with MrBill Most Exellent! This is a 5 star stove!
Thank you for the comment and compliment! I will note that while it has a limited fuel capacity, the burn times make it something of a general moot point for 1-2 people. I couldn't believe myself the simmer/bake burn time, but the stopwatch just kept going! Surprised myself with that result. I hope the general layout of the pics/video helped others understand how I made it. Next - I HAVE to make that percolator of yours! Peace.
With a limited fuel capacity, this stove was meant for 1-2 people. I am thinking of eventually doing a more full-sized version for more diversity. I just wanted to challenge myself with the attempt to miniaturize the unit. I like it. Thanks for the comment! Peace.
Thank you sir. I always do the best I can, even if it's not adequate for what I hoped for. This was a test for whatever construction skills I may have, but I like what I ended up with for 1-2 people. Peace.
That is one cool looking Stove

Are you and NCHiker1970 working together on these stoves? If so maybe you both could produce a video on how they are built?
