People need to start reading the description before they hate. I think what you're doing is great and it's understandable that you would do more if you could and had the authority. It's too bad there isn't some safe haven we could put all the neglected dogs in the world without the expense and law.

I don't blame the person who filmed this for not taking the dog but I think I would have had to, or at least have called a rescue. This is appalling. Besides the physical issues it presents, it had serious mental and emotional implications. Dogs need socialisation, love and comfort as much as we do and being left outside on a chain promotes frustration and aggressiveness. When the pibble bites someone, what do people do? Blame the dog of course.

@HotRedStilettos I am not in the business of stealing animals because if I took all the animals that I saw out there, I'd have 10 dogs in a 2 bedroom apartment. All we can do is make them more comfortable...it's not a crime to do this so the law is not on our side.

@theanimaladvocate Actually it is a crime to leave a dog chained outside for more than 12 hours, I believe. At least in the state of Florida it is. And ESPECIALLY in the winter. If you had called animal control and they had seen the conditions, they would have taken the dog in.

All dogs are not meant to be house pets, especially dogs built for performance. Proper set ups are required to contain such animals so your dog isn't making the next pitbull attack headline. As much as we love our dogs and want them to be human, they are not. They do not need their own bedroom, special pillows, hugs and kisses. Shelter, food, water, attention, and keeping them in good health will be more than enough.

As for the original poster of the video, speaking of educating people. You do know that chaining a dog provides x4 as much space on average in comparison to kennelling a dog, right? I mean, you would have to have a pretty big kennel to provide as much square feet of space as is provided on a chain spot. The largers chains are to prevent breakage or ware and tear on the chain as friction shortens the lifespan of any chain.

The animal has shelter to the left with what looks to be straw... this is more than enough for the animal and should not be illegal.

The dog is shivering because you've got its attention out in the cold, stop wasting the dogs energy for your own amusement and let it get back to being warm in its dog house, thanks.

First of all are you on private property? Secondly if you weren't there, they'd probably be kickin it in their dog house. And lastly, so what if the dog shivered? Dont you shiver sometimes? I do, we all do. Stop trying to humanize dogs! They are fine. If you wanna do something productive, try to get as many dogs adopted as possible so the Animal Shelters can stop slaughtering thousands of dogs a day. And there is nothing wrong with keeping dogs on chains, its better than a kennel (jail cell)

The dog has proper housing and if you weren't out bothering animals that are not yours would probably be in its dog house curled up. Worry about your animals and this dog is in spectacular condition clearly has decent owners. The chain obviously is not bothering the dog & you are over dramatizing the situation at hand.

I am not Tammy. She has a different channel, I believe. Unfortunately, in Kansas City, this is NOT illegal. The organization I volunteer with has been unable to rescue this dog and many dogs like them. All we can do is help make them as comfortable as possible. Please post this video wherever you can to get the word out about how terrible the lives of chained dogs are. Thanks for watching this video and commenting.

This is cruel! Look at the size of the chain, it probably weighs more than the dog. Unfortantely it will spend the rest of his life confined to that one space, during the brutal cold winter and hot summers.

God help him and all the other animals in the same situation.

I post these videos to educate people about what these chained dogs have to go through. I hope you tell people about this video and how terrible it is to chain dogs.

Unfortunately, there is nothing we, the volunteers and organization I volunteer for, can do. This is not against the law in Kansas City, where all of these videos are taken.

All we can do is try to educate the owner to get the dogs off the chain and make the dog as comfortable as possible.
