  • I really dig this chick's music. This song ROCKS. "I changed the tracks underneath the train..."

  • He plays guitar with Marty Stuart.

  • I love watching Kenny Vaughn do his over-the-top theatrics while playing that blistering lead! What a cool guy! I wonder what he's up to now?

  • Lucinda rocks.

  • So much soul. Lucinda always gets me going!

  • Kenny Vaughn tars this up! Lu can pick em' when it comes to her bands.

  • thats the real deal

  • Changed them today. crazy bitch

  • She rode back with us in 1981 and a fellow singer/writer in a Econoline ( w/ out AC )from Austin to Houston. She was kind of shy & but no fake modesty here - you could sense that she was going to break through inevitably.I admire her as much for her talent as for her tenacity.

  • I had to come out and find this song because I need my key back from my lover. Told him to leave it in the mailbox along with my heart as long as he's at it. ;-) I may just be changing the lock on my front door but secretly hope he'll just use it come back to me and tell me he can't live without me. Not that I should take him back. Lucinda is that balls-y girl who I should be, just DO IT.

  • love it!

  • can hear lots of neil young in this song. love it.

  • I love this song

  • havent heard this in years! xx

  • one of my favorite Lucinda songs

  • I love her anyhow whatever you lot say..I live Manchester England,,, Lucinda is a Darling xx

  • Tom Petty did this so much better, not to say she did a bad job but where is his cover? I thought it used to be on youtube

  • Lu is in a league of her own. You should see her in person. I have, at least 20 times!! She is amazing!! And she always comes out afterwords and talks you up and signs your cd or tee or whatever. West will blow you away. She never duplicates herself. A true renascence musician! Brilliant!!

  • If it ain't the truth then it ain't the blues...sing it Lucinda!

  • Kind of looks like Sandra Bullock in this, maybe she'll play Lucinda in the movie someday

  • Just echoed that on the Pineola video. Thanks I-MAN. Great group of musicians.

  • This a Masterpiece! But I would not of know of her except for Imus playing this recording on his show on RFD TV. I thank him for this.

  • A very underrated artist

  • i know what you're getting at, but i don't think "underrated" is the right word. she may not have the financial success of other performers, but she's got an extensive, loyal following. she's been a darling of the critics for decades and she's got the respect of virtually every industry player. she's just a little tough to market to a broader audience. damned philistines.

    KEvron

  • @KEvronius i heard this song the otherday and it just proves my point even more i cant stand listening to live shows they sound like shit the studio like cd quality version is always a thousand times better

  • @danzinnyman

The sound quality of this original is perfec.

Its been degraded some where. In fact its the best

version of this song I have heard.

  • "I changed the name of this town" WOW. I love it.

  • omg, I ADORE LUCINDA! Like a sultry mix between Tom Waits and Brody Dalle!! You sexy woman!!!

  • Because radio in general doesn`t have a

clue & Clear Chanel IS the Devil

  • I am stunned by Lucinda's talent! Why her music isn't on regular radio is beyond me. I've listened to her for about 30 years and can't tell you one single song she does that isn't fantastic!

  • Dude at 0.41, , too cool for words.

  • Gives me friggn chills!!!!!!!!

  • This is as good as it gets. Kenny and John lay out a guitar wall-of-sound that

goes right to the bone. These guys are

    the finest in the business.

  • Kenny has more balls than a big thing with loads of balls, and Fran Breen on drums - steady as f**k!

  • Man does this bring back memories. Saw this lineup backing Lucinda on a warm summer evening at Portland's Waterfront Park. She saved this bad boy for the first encore and Kenny Vaughan just tore it a new one on lead guitar.

  • right on. the tele tone is killer too

  • Love the lead guitar tone! Halfway between Creedence and ZZ.

  • That's cousin kenny vaughn w/ the spectacles and badass guitar. Now, wisely, he's with marty stuart's fabulous superlatives, one of the greatest bands of all time.

  • tom petty did a cover of this

  • Yes,in the She's the One soundtrack..great album and cover too.

  • brilliant!

  • Yes, Lucinda sing it! Girl, take charge and Change!!!!!!!

  • What a band she had then, esp. the guitarist with the glasses. Her latest band is good, but this one here is great.

  • It's Kenny Vaughn....Doug Pettibone is a great all around guitarist, but Kenny has balls and Kenny bouncing off of JJ in the old Car Wheels band.....there was just nothing like it....the two of them on Joy is killer. Last I heard Kenny was playing with Marty Stewart

  • Thanks for the info. I saw her with Kenny on lead guitar at the Newport Folk Festival maybe 10 years ago (?). If there were a roof on that place, they would have blown it down.

  • i changed the lock on my front door, i changed the number on my phone ~ ~ ~ ~ i changed the name of this town ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    tom petty covered this song.

    lucinda created this song.

  • Hehe iv got a crush on Lucinda haha. Hmm awesome music, beautiful soul. Gr8! :-)

  • Tom Petty wrote this song.

  • 03Gadu08: Tom Petty covered this song.

  • Her latest album, West, has her latest kiss-off song yet - Come on! Lucinda, you have helped me back from the deepest depths with your power and guts.

  • I love this song!! It kicks some a**!!

  • I havent heard this song since I was eight years old 8-|. Mid ninties.

    I love it.

  • I fucking Love Lucinda. It doesn't get more honest than her. I just worry that she may be drinking too much or drugging.

  • not drugging

  • Amy Winehouse couldn't carry Lucinda Williams's "G" string!

  • New ?

    Changed the Locks 2001 ?

LW just did concert in Copenhagen, My friend went there and he didn't regret.

He said she was hardcore on stage - whatever that means :) /Blink

  • This is the best kiss-off song, ever.

    Period.

    And she's a phenomenal talent.

  • I THOUGHT THIS SONG WAS NEW?

  • so did I ... ANYBODY know the name of her NEW release?

  • her new album is "West."

This song is old, and is on her 1989 Self-titled album that is out of print now (but not too hard to find) but was released on Rough Trade Records. There's talk of a re-printing this Spring.

There's also a good live version on 2005's Live at the Filmore.
