it says i need to turn on convert selection and i cant find that it say // Warning: polyProjection works only on polygonal faces; Try turning Polygons->ToolOptions->ConvertSelection On. where is this stuff cant find it
@aysaspades Select Window > Settings/Preferences > Preferences. Then under Settings select Modeling > Polygons and make sure Convert component selection is ON

Isnt there a way to make it unwrap to use a normal texture? Im new to maya ( just switched from blender ) and it seems a bit too overcomplicated so far..
@PolygonCore Like, unwrap the cubes into the nets of the cubes, and then arrange the net so that you can just put in the game's textures so that the texture doesn't need to be modified in order to be used in maya.

When I clicked on Viewpoint 2.0 it says "Rendering mode is not supported by graphics card. Switching to default rendering"...is there I way to fix this or do I have to buy a $1000+ laptop?
@motanium Hey, we didn't skip a step, the UV was to show that no matter how clean your UV is, the texture would not fit or it would become to blurry. Fred shows you have to do it the correct way selecting a face, create UV's and then planar map.
