Here's the thing, I actually got my account hacked about a month ago. Blizzard was able to swiftly able to retrieve all my items and gold. After they retrieved all my stuff, they sent me a email. It claimed that they were giving me a free authenticator by putting a promo code into the blizzard-store. I received a authenticator completely free of charge. (Free shipping) So, yes. Blizzard does give free authenticator.
I think it would be a nice thing to have an authenicator put into the price of an expansion and get one included with it. Not sure what a nightmare it would be do to in the next expansion, but it's an idea.

@sawman85 Sorry to break your dream but that's isn't true...any programmer who's very well versed in OS and hexa code potentialy be able to install anything on your copumtuer with as little as a javascript, flash apply or any other scprit using overflow. Tho it does require very specific knowledge it can definitly be done and will bypass firewalls. I don't think it can be done on a pure HTML page but unless you wanna block scripts in 100% of the pages you look you can't be totaly sure.
in order to install things on your computer, you have to install it yourself (not on purpose, but still). Malware from ActiveX, budled with things you install (codex, players etc), page that says:"You need this software", and you install it or attachments in mail (witch you open). In order to malware/spyware/virus on your computer, you have to install it. That is the only way...

I'm like TB; I have good protection with a good antivirus protection and scanner, I don't fall for phishing attempts, can spot them easily and I've even taken a univ level class in computer security and hacking. I still got hacked! At first I thought like the mailer here, that it was their fault not mine, but of course it was my fault. My private computer I use at work was compromised when the IT guy installed the office printer, and I lost my then inactive account.

I highly recommend for everyone to get an Authenticator. I'm very good with keeping my computer secure, and yet, I found some IP address in China logging into my Gmail account. Soon after, all my characters were stripped of everything they worked for. I was very careful with my computer security, but yet they got access by getting my Gmail info and resetting my WoW password.
This just goes to show that no matter how careful you are, they'll get in SOMEHOW, unless you get an Authenticator.
Another graphical issue that needs fixing is that of a Worgen on a Drake mount. If anyone has a Worgen+Drake notice how your legs go through the Drake lol. It's only a small problem but it bugs the hell out of me

It is extremely easy to get hacked through a Flash animation. It is hard to spot Flash on some pages and I always keep my browser open at all times. I don't get hacked this often on other services, so I think Blizzard should do more.

@RightWingAndProud You can try the cataclysm 10 day trial for free, but that doesnt let you get to lvl 81+ just lets you get all the xp towards 81 except for 1xp. But you can still do all the other new things.
Seriously, without knowing what you found bland etc. we can't really answer that. Why don't you sign up for a free trial account, poke around and look at the changes and then decide if you want to re-activate.
Also, on the subject of passwords and hacking. I do believe the Curse network was once brute force hacked so if you are using the same password and emails for other things you put yourself at risk.

i got hacked twice, i used plenty of security and had good password. while in last 6 years i havent got any of my other game/sites hacked not even my credit card which i use constantly. i have shitloads of security and know how to use internet properly. also i had separate mail account for wow since the begining and never logged in it. Guys I want to give you guys the easiest way to avoid your account ever getting hacked without using Blizzard authenticator.
Open a new word document or notepad.
Type in your login and password for your game account
Save it to your desktop
Whenever you want to play open the document and copy and paste your info into the game screen.
This will prevent any key logger from ever getting your info as it will only capture single action of an empty paste command and not the actual login/password
Blizzard owns accounts and we technically pay to use them so in that case is it Blizzards responsibility. By the way, love the show and keep it up. :D
If you open a fake Blizzard URL, before enter your own account information just enter anything rubbish and see if you get in. I did once and I tried with account name "This is a fake site" and password "go **** yourself" and I got in, and I can ensure you those are not my real information.

i got hacked this week, and i already accept that internet security is my own responsibility.
they took all my gold and cleared out my bags, however, the blizz GMs were able to restore everything within an hour or two.
since then the measly price of an authentictor is well worth the peace of mind, however the service from blizz was pretty priceless when i needed some help.
A suggestion about the authenticators would be that new copies of the game could come with one for a small fee more to save new people the hassle or torment of being hacked.
@adamKlD This does not actually work vs phishing websites. If someone is stupid enough to click on, for example, an advertisement that claims to be from Blizzard and offers free gold or beta access, then copy pasting wont save him.
And you still get the normal amount of phishing spam, just to your other email.

I still got hacked! At first I thought like the mailer here, that it was their fault not mine, but of course it was my fault. My private computer I use at work was compromised when the IT guy installed the office printer, and I lost my then inactive account.

I highly recommend for everyone to get an Authenticator. I'm very good with keeping my computer secure, and yet, I found some IP address in China logging into my Gmail account. Soon after, all my characters were stripped of everything they worked for. I was very careful with my computer security, but yet they got access by getting my Gmail info and resetting my WoW password.
This just goes to show that no matter how careful you are, they'll get in SOMEHOW, unless you get an Authenticator.

Another graphical issue that needs fixing is that of a Worgen on a Drake mount. If anyone has a Worgen+Drake notice how your legs go through the Drake lol. It's only a small problem but it bugs the hell out of me

after entering any weird wow site that isnt to my liking or getting any viruses on my pc, I ALLWAYs, again ALLWAYS change my password. and I usualy change it once a week or something, just to be safe, I mean comon, its worth the small hassle.

Tapping herbs - should be in combat near it, not just picking it up. As for archaeology, the extra returns are for personal stuff. You don't sell them on the AH for gold.

It is extremely easy to get hacked through a Flash animation. It is hard to spot Flash on some pages and I always keep my browser open at all times. I don't get hacked this often on other services, so I think Blizzard should do more.

@RightWingAndProud You can try the cataclysm 10 day trial for free, but that doesnt let you get to lvl 81+ just lets you get all the xp towards 81 except for 1xp. But you can still do all the other new things.

Also, on the subject of passwords and hacking. I do believe the Curse network was once brute force hacked so if you are using the same password and emails for other things you put yourself at risk.

i got hacked twice, i used plenty of security and had good password. while in last 6 years i havent got any of my other game/sites hacked not even my credit card which i use constantly. i have shitloads of security and know how to use internet properly. also i had separate mail account for wow since the begining and never logged in it. I couldnt even remember the password for it when i first got hacked. you might say I got keylogged or some other crap. but no there is something fishy.

Guys I want to give you guys the easiest way to avoid your account ever getting hacked without using Blizzard authenticator.
Open a new word document or notepad.
Type in your login and password for your game account
Save it to your desktop
Whenever you want to play open the document and copy and paste your info into the game screen.
This will prevent any key logger from ever getting your info as it will only capture single action of an empty paste command and not the actual login/password

If you open a fake Blizzard URL, before enter your own account information just enter anything rubbish and see if you get in. I did once and I tried with account name "This is a fake site" and password "go **** yourself" and I got in, and I can ensure you those are not my real information.

i got hacked this week, and i already accept that internet security is my own responsibility.
they took all my gold and cleared out my bags, however, the blizz GMs were able to restore everything within an hour or two.
since then the measly price of an authentictor is well worth the peace of mind, however the service from blizz was pretty priceless when i needed some help.

@adamKlD This does not actually work vs phishing websites. If someone is stupid enough to click on, for example, an advertisement that claims to be from Blizzard and offers free gold or beta access, then copy pasting wont save him.
And you still get the normal amount of phishing spam, just to your other email.
