Heck yeah! There are multiple parts in the film that would be good in 3D. Like when Harvey freezes up and when the stellar bomb goes off. I think it'd be cool.
if you're wondering why you are reminded of kick-ass, john murphy composed this, as well as strobe (adagio in d minor). obviously he liked the track so much he created a differentish version of it.
This is by far my favorite scene. I'm sure some will disagree but for me the movie could have ended right then and there with Capa floating towards the payload. What an incredible moment.
It's a shame this movie turned out into an hack and slash. I love how the greatness of humanity is portrayed; even if our lives are nothing more than fireworks in the immensity of the universe, we decide to enflame ourselves like lightning just to breath one more second. Beautiful. 3:10 you'll know what I'm talking about.
To bad our sun will expand and engulf the earth before it dies out. But if the sun just burned out this movie would be much more realistic. But I agree, it is one of the most underrated films.
do you get it? its the will and choice of the soul and mind...the fear was falling, but after numerous times to give up, @ 3:04 he jumps to his death, he jumps into the sun by choice and does not fall without control
One of the best parts of the movie just the fact that he knew and was walking to his own death, jumping onto the playload with no hope of going back. having all those 4 minutes to think to himself that hes going to have to sacrifice himself, intense.
@TheAtomicusBomb Well to be honest he already knew he was going to die long before this scene but I guess this is the climactic moment where it really hits him, where we get to see the raw emotion of Capa knowing the time has now come to make the final move to death. EPIC!
yeah i suppose i mean he takes it into his own hands instead of just waiting to die trapped in the airlock, you really feel the pressure of having the fate of the world on your shoulders, he has to suceed no matter what.
It honestly pisses me off to no end when other movies and TV shows try to get the emotional gravity of this scene and Kaneda's death by borrowing this track from the soundtrack. It's not that easy!!
@AdamHolm I felt it worked really well in Kick-Ass, their own version of couse, which is actually the reason i found sunshine. Without Kick-Ass, sunshine would still go unnoticed by me. BUT, when The Walking Dead tried using it, it was out of place and terrible for their scene. Not sure where else it has been used.
Too be pushed beyond the limit of no return , but still have the wheel power to look beyond life and death, to go beyond ourselves this is when we truly become gods.
@TheRaellz he'll commit suicide? can u explain it to me why he did all of that. sorry i haven't watched the movie i just saw it at wikipedia and i became curious coz i'm a space fanatic :)
The only thing that bothered me about this movie was that they had artificial gravity rings, but when Capa went to jump, he fell even though he was in a gravitationally neutral zone; ergo he should have been weightless. besides that, absolutely wonderful film.
Awesome scene. Felt the desperation when he fell and trying to get back up. Feel we've all been in that place at some stage in our lives. And in view of post 9/11 all you Americans have shown true grit and gotten back up . You make me proud. Kia ora from New Zealand.
@BrynBrandy i wouldn't isolate human beings to nations like that. by that comment you basically suggest that your country is superior because, in your opinion, your people are better than us in some fashion.
people are people. grouping them will not work. comparing nations will never work. life is far too simple, but yet too complicated to be worked out in that manner.
@TheRaellz Hi. I think u read too much into my comment and your assumption bit wide of the mark. Of course all the people who died in 9/11 come from different ethnicities, cultures, countries of birth etc, like that which makes up the fabric of the people of USA. Been twice your age and fortunatly have been able to travel, work and live overseas for over 10 years gives me a good insight into the wonderful differences of many countries, good and bad. 9/11 was a world tradgedy not just American one.
@BrynBrandy i assume "been twice your age" was meant to be 'being'. 34 is not 24 x2. 10 years. age has nothing to do with anything. i've met hundreds of people who are older than me and quite stupid and ignorant.
@TheRaellz Yes true indeed, and so have I. All I was trying to say with empathy & compassion was to express my admiration how the people of NY & wider America have stood up again in the face of such tradgedy & adversity. I no way meant to sound superior and sorry if you felt I was in some way inferring that. And due to horrific head/brain injuries in work accident years ago some wording comes out wrong, lucky to even be able to walk or talk since then{1983}. Thankyou for ur correction. Alan
@cJsphh I thought that at first, but the more times I watch this the better I think they fit in. It wouldn't be as great without Cassies speech, and that plus the flashback to that dream scene makes it pretty awesome in my books.
@anulburst On the very front of the Icarus II, theres a heat shield that blocks most of the heat and light coming off of the sun. That, combined with the heat resistant suit he was wearing, kept him alive during the jump
Most amazing film experience of my whole life, so strong, so determined under such circumstances. When capa falls the whole human race falls with him!! He is a god!!!!
this movie should been rated around 9 on imdb up their with the godfather and shawshank because of the energy and emotion it brings not to say that the soundtrack does all the work but how it just motivates you and stays in your mind almost forever
Feels kinda bad that I can never see this movie in theater, I was only familiar with this movie about a year ago and its one of the most amazing movies I'v ever seen.

Actually the basis of the film is that the sun has a qball at it's centre, it isn't dying out in the traditional sense
