  • That's One Dream Of Dieing!!!

  • @herpderpmonkey Yeah, I think that really dragged the film down. Can't say why they added it.

  • KONY 2102

  • Very awesome but when 1:24 came I laughed because of the sound he made. Sounds like a sound I've heard before......

  • Gold foiled Kenny is saving the world! :P

  • Song is my alarm clock music; seriously, you feel like a total baller badass when you get out of your bed!

3:08 The jump that saved the fucking world!

  • Song is my alarm clock music; seriously, you feel like a total baller badass when you get out of your bed!

  • when the weight of the world is on your shoulders....you stand up

  • @darquecyde

    Nice, copying another comment.

  • 1:37 to 1:38, look at the way he moves

  • fucking love this song and movie...own both...

  • Alright Capa, let's do this, time to save all of humanity.

    *Capa trips*

    FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • this film kinda makes me want to do good in life

  • @JheakrynaKyAlur You killed it

  • Almost speechless...

  • najlepsze kilka minut filmu

  • I can't think of a movie that is more underrated than Sunshine. I have watched it countless and each time this scene gives me goosebumps.

  • This has got to be one of the most epic scenes ever!

  • @BsERoss no doubt about that my friend, one of the most inspiring movies i've ever happened to see

  • at 3:10

  • this scene is so sick!!!

  • i love this part of the movie when hes about to take the jump all or nothing

  • Heck yeah! There are multiple parts in the film that would be good in 3D. Like when Harvey freezes up and when the stellar bomb goes off. I think it'd be cool.

  • I wish I could have seen this movie in theaters :(

  • @MrERoddick

Same here, feelsbadman. They should remake this in 3D.

    thumbs up if agree.

  • amazing scene.

  • What is the name of the song its EEEEEEPPPPPPPPIIIIIIICCCCCC!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its called andiago in d Minor by john murphy

  • @Iernez actually, it's adiago in d minor.

  • There isn't a better movie scene than this one

  • Anyone ever notice how the entire cast is conspicuously young? Like who the hell could captain a space shuttle mission by their mid-20's?! Really?

  • @DavidPatMathis81 Anything is possible when the fate of your species demands it.

  • @DavidPatMathis81 its makes sense, had they sent people who were older, health issues may have arose, they needed people who were at their prime

  • Having never seen this movie, I have no idea what just occurred here.

    Seemed neat, though.

  • Anyone notice at 3:48 the wings on the Icarus? Right on the dome.

Talk about irony of the ship's name xD

  • @Gee0F I noticed for the first time, then I read this.

  • Legend!

  • One of the best sci fi fliks of our time, thanks for the post!

  • When you look at the timer, you realize that his jump only lasted 3 seconds and it completely ruins that part. :(

  • @thecraftersmakevideo No, he jumps when the times is at around 10 seconds, and he arrives when theres 1 sec left, thus it lasted around 9 seconds

  • This scene and Kaneda's death literally send shivers down my spine

  • 1:30 - 1:34 Rage guy

  • SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT.

    @ 3:05 - 3:30

  • A Ferrero Rocher is saving the world!

  • @fandamme LOL what a waste I love those things ;)

  • I really wish I had seen this movie in the movie theatre, I think I would of had a heartattack from sheer awesomeness.

  • if you're wondering why you are reminded of kick-ass, john murphy composed this, as well as strobe (adagio in d minor). obviously he liked the track so much he created a differentish version of it.

  • This is by far my favorite scene. I'm sure some will disagree but for me the movie could have ended right then and there with Capa floating towards the payload. What an incredible moment.

  • the best scene ever...with this track

  • @Nickbol09

Gets my vote for the worst (considering originality, timing, context) comment ever on a YouTube video :)

  • It's a shame this movie turned out into an hack and slash. I love how the greatness of humanity is portrayed; even if our lives are nothing more than fireworks in the immensity of the universe, we decide to enflame ourselves like lightning just to breath one more second. Beautiful. 3:10 you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • 3:48 - Am I the only one that see's a... birds wing, on the disc? Never noticed that before, Ha, Icarus after all.

  • Bee-Guuu-AHH! *thump*

  • 1:32... Exactly how I felt when Megavideo cuts off this film at that exact point!

  • @Stickalas hahahahahahahahahahaha .... oh man , that was .... interesting lol.

  • To bad our sun will expand and engulf the earth before it dies out. But if the sun just burned out this movie would be much more realistic. But I agree, it is one of the most underrated films.

  • @emeryerz

Actually the basis of the film is that the sun has a qball at it's centre, it isn't dying out in the traditional sense

  • @emeryerz The sun wasn't dying because of that.

They had a scientist as part of the crew making the film, the reason was actually scientifically sound.

Just that they failed to explain it except in the DVD extras

  • One of the most underrated films of all time.

  • @AdrianPetersonFan369 The whole slasher thriller part of the movie kills it for me; this movie would've been one of my favorites.

  • Masterful acting from Cillian Murphy. You can literally feel the frustration at 1:38.

  • Such an awesome scene and movie. The music is perfect!

  • Challenge Accepted!!!

  • does a movie scene get much better?

  • Seems like naming the ship Icarus was kind of a death wish.

  • do you get it? its the will and choice of the soul and mind...the fear was falling, but after numerous times to give up, @ 3:04 he jumps to his death, he jumps into the sun by choice and does not fall without control

  • Comment removed

  • probably one of the most intense scenes in movie history

  • When the weight of the whole world is on your shoulders, you stand back up.

  • @GhostLate And Ayn Rand can shut up!

  • @GhostLate wow.

    *wipes tear away*

  • indeed you do...indeed you do

  • Everytime I watch this scene, I get goose bumps during the whole scene, because of the score.

  • The intense graphics, and then the freaking intense bass which makes the epicness grow wild, and then the fucking acting amplified everything!

Everything in this scene was perfect to the max, even one speck of it was insanely epic.

  • LOVES IT!!!!!!!!

  • Going to be uploading this scene in Bluray 720p soon :D Check my channel tomorrow.

  • One of the best parts of the movie just the fact that he knew and was walking to his own death, jumping onto the playload with no hope of going back. having all those 4 minutes to think to himself that hes going to have to sacrifice himself, intense.

  • @TheAtomicusBomb Well to be honest he already knew he was going to die long before this scene but I guess this is the climactic moment where it really hits him, where we get to see the raw emotion of Capa knowing the time has now come to make the final move to death. EPIC!

  • @malicios

yeah i suppose i mean he takes it into his own hands instead of just waiting to die trapped in the airlock, you really feel the pressure of having the fate of the world on your shoulders, he has to suceed no matter what.

  • most AMAZING scene form any movie EVERRR!!!!

  • Best scene of the movie. And the entire movie is incredible!!

  • If you are loving this , check out the sound track to the movie "INK " theme johns walk ,, its so cool

  • It honestly pisses me off to no end when other movies and TV shows try to get the emotional gravity of this scene and Kaneda's death by borrowing this track from the soundtrack. It's not that easy!!

  • @AdamHolm I felt it worked really well in Kick-Ass, their own version of couse, which is actually the reason i found sunshine. Without Kick-Ass, sunshine would still go unnoticed by me. BUT, when The Walking Dead tried using it, it was out of place and terrible for their scene. Not sure where else it has been used.

  • A small jump for man, a giant leap for manking!

  • @Fumblenoob Whos the manking?

  • Okay Capa, you are humanity's last hope. Let's do this!

    1:20 Capa trips

    FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  • @GamePreorders usually these memes aren't very funny to me, but your comment made me lol hard.

  • @GamePreorders

    Correction: That's FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU

    f7u12

  • fabulous

    wordless

  • 3:08 I remember when I first saw this...

  • Segments like this made this movie great

  • Most important long jump in the history of mankind.

  • i get savage goosebumps at this one. beautiful

  • Great Movie

  • Too be pushed beyond the limit of no return , but still have the wheel power to look beyond life and death, to go beyond ourselves this is when we truly become gods.

  • @milontua wheel power? i think you mean willpower.

gods are fantasy. they do not exist.

  • @TheRaellz You missed the whole point of the comment. *shakes head*

  • @milontua so, i'm guessing the wit of that "wheel" comment was when he was opening the pressure door.

    -yawn-...

  • @TheRaellz .....?

  • that's cool. it's like an insect flying into a place. that's epic.

  • why did he jumped at that part?

  • @deoxynchro so he can get to the bomb.

  • @TheRaellz he'll commit suicide? can u explain it to me why he did all of that. sorry i haven't watched the movie i just saw it at wikipedia and i became curious coz i'm a space fanatic :)

  • @deoxynchro i wouldn't want to spoil it for you.

  • best scene

  • Fuck, this movie is badass

  • The only thing that bothered me about this movie was that they had artificial gravity rings, but when Capa went to jump, he fell even though he was in a gravitationally neutral zone; ergo he should have been weightless. besides that, absolutely wonderful film.

  • Awesome scene. Felt the desperation when he fell and trying to get back up. Feel we've all been in that place at some stage in our lives. And in view of post 9/11 all you Americans have shown true grit and gotten back up . You make me proud. Kia ora from New Zealand.

  • @BrynBrandy We did get back up, and we're stronger than ever. Thanks for your input.

  • @BrynBrandy

Except that after they got back up they went and knocked a bunch of other people down. Which is a bummer.

  • @BrynBrandy i wouldn't isolate human beings to nations like that. by that comment you basically suggest that your country is superior because, in your opinion, your people are better than us in some fashion.

people are people. grouping them will not work. comparing nations will never work. life is far too simple, but yet too complicated to be worked out in that manner.

  • @TheRaellz Hi. I think u read too much into my comment and your assumption bit wide of the mark. Of course all the people who died in 9/11 come from different ethnicities, cultures, countries of birth etc, like that which makes up the fabric of the people of USA. Been twice your age and fortunatly have been able to travel, work and live overseas for over 10 years gives me a good insight into the wonderful differences of many countries, good and bad. 9/11 was a world tradgedy not just American one.

  • @BrynBrandy i assume "been twice your age" was meant to be 'being'. 34 is not 24 x2. 10 years. age has nothing to do with anything. i've met hundreds of people who are older than me and quite stupid and ignorant.

  • @TheRaellz Yes true indeed, and so have I. All I was trying to say with empathy & compassion was to express my admiration how the people of NY & wider America have stood up again in the face of such tradgedy & adversity. I no way meant to sound superior and sorry if you felt I was in some way inferring that. And due to horrific head/brain injuries in work accident years ago some wording comes out wrong, lucky to even be able to walk or talk since then{1983}. Thankyou for ur correction. Alan

  • Usually, im a stickler about scientific accuracy in movies, but this scene was so beatufiul that i didnt care,

  • Whats this green symbol at 2:11 a easter egg? lol i think i have watched this too many times :D

  • @Gamegc100 Not really an Easter egg since you see it in other points during the movie,

It's just a Radioactive sign because that's where the payload is.

  • @cJsphh I thought that at first, but the more times I watch this the better I think they fit in. It wouldn't be as great without Cassies speech, and that plus the flashback to that dream scene makes it pretty awesome in my books.

  • kaneda, what do you see?

    Kaneda WHAT DO YOU SEE?

    KANEDA!!

    KANEDA!!!!!!!!!!

  • How did he survive the jump? He was sooo close to the sun!

  • @anulburst On the very front of the Icarus II, theres a heat shield that blocks most of the heat and light coming off of the sun. That, combined with the heat resistant suit he was wearing, kept him alive during the jump

  • @anulburst

the giant heat shield he was leaping into and the thermal suit he had on? :)

  • @anulburst the shield and the suit

  • to be extremely honest. i saw this movie just to hear this score...i was genuinely entertained by the vision of this movie.

  • this is a so great movie

  • EPIC

  • I'm positive this movie saved my love of science fiction. Not sci-fi Star Wars style, but proper science fiction.

  • Most amazing film experience of my whole life, so strong, so determined under such circumstances. When capa falls the whole human race falls with him!! He is a god!!!!

  • 2:48

  • this movie should been rated around 9 on imdb up their with the godfather and shawshank because of the energy and emotion it brings not to say that the soundtrack does all the work but how it just motivates you and stays in your mind almost forever

  • forget slumdog millionaire....this movie is #1!!!

  • @jackjolli slumdog was bleh........ hahahaha

  • This scene just..wow.

  • Danny Boyle does little wrong: his movies are intriguing, and he knows that music has a frigging huge impact.

  • danny boyle's top 3: 1. 127 hours 2. sunshine 3. slumdog

  • @ktm5194 No way, Shallow Grave is for sure in his top 3.

  • Very rarely do the acting, score and cinematogophry mesh so well as to bring to life a scene of such epic emotion and intensity.

This scene is among the top five of such moments of movie magic.

Danny Boyle and John Murphy are cinema gods.

  • this makes me cry..

  • i dont think a musical score and a movie scene have ever gone so well together in the history of cinema

  • @stopthesoftkill EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • chuck norris could have done this with out the space suit

  • @bilzyboy Acctually the sun is where he cooks his meals, so it would not die in the first place.

  • The struggle, determination in this scene is absolutely amazing. Give this movie a chance. "Sunshine".

  • Every time he falls, my heart breaks....

  • Feels kinda bad that I can never see this movie in theater, I was only familiar with this movie about a year ago and its one of the most amazing movies I'v ever seen.

  • Does anyone else notice at 3:48 the picture of Icarus on the heat shield and the symbolism not just in the name of the ship but the actual burning up of the image being that close to the sun?

  • uhm no offence to the two top comments, but , i dont believe there is a "perfect" movie, for many reasons, just like a human, nothing is perfect, but i am glad you both realize its an amazing film.

  • Love it!!!!!

  • This is probably the most powerful scene in the movie. Watch this to get an idea of the power of this film. My goodness. I'm almost in tears!

  • I don't cry. I usually just sit gaping at anything I find disturbing but... this is so beautiful.

    I just start bawling.

  • This... I think this is the one thing that really gets me emotional. The one thing.

  • this film and moon are one of my favortie space films, they really make you connect with the characters and feel there emotions, check out the film moon if you haven't, you wont be dissapointed

  • does anyone else think that those space suits look like Kenny from south park? As intense as this scene is that's all I see lol

  • @Wincow I read somewhere that's where they got their inspiration from to make the suits, Kenny from South Park.

  • @Crusher8000 Oh, well there you have it :-)

  • Everytime I watch this I am screaming at him to get up!! If he doesn't we are all dead. The music, his panic, his struggle getting up, overcoming the fall. Absolutely epic.

  • 1:30 - Epic FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU....

  • 1:23 LOL. What a hell is that?
