  • The Federal Reserve is responsible for limiting the usage of the $1 coin.

  • In God We Trust is located on the edge of the coin along with the year, mint marker, and E Pluribus Unum.

The only way the dollar coin will ever catch on is to stop listening to the public being pussy about it, and just discontinue the printing of the useless one dollar bill. Simple.

  • The best way to circulate dollar coins is by discontinuing the $1 bill. If the government has the power to monopolize, they also have the power to encourage the usage of the $1 coin by decreasing the public's options. Of course, there's an issue of trying to help adapt the $1 coin into everyday life.

  • Not really. You can get them at the bank for a whopping..... one dollar.

  • The coin doesn't have in God we trust.

  • yes it does..

  • They need to abolish pennies and $1 bills, and print a lot more $2 bills (We're in Series 2006 now; the 2003As are done). The $2 is already rapidly increasing in popularity. Words can't express what a pain in the ass $1 bills are after living in Canada, where the smallest bill is a $5. I trade my $1 bills in at the bank for coins.

  • He should also have pushed the $2 bills in this presentation. Since Americans don't like carrying around change, there is a simple solution. Get change for $5, the machine should give you one $2 bill and one $1 coin. For the dollar coin to work there must be some type of $2 denomination. (Yes, the $2 bill is still being printed. Series 2003A)

  • Of course, if the government wants $1 coins to become widespread, one must eliminate the $1 bill. Dollar coins are a waste of time and resources unless you get rid of the $1 bill, because the public seems unable to handle two different types of money with the same value, and inertia will keep them using the $1 bill.

  • I'm holding out for the paper quarter.
