  • Log PT, oh how I miss thee

  • Next friday I compete for one of the 2 slots out of my battery i think that will be the hardest part.

  • Wow....haven't thought about AA in a long time. Went thru back in 1992 @ Ft Hood.. It was 14days then. Started out with nearly 300 guys and only about 120 of us passed . At the time.... I could bust out 100+ push-ups in 2 min, 80+ sit-ups and ran the 2 mile in 10:48. Even in that good of shape...ZERO Day about killed me. I can remember the cadre counting off 300 jumping jacks...(4 count to boot) 1-2-3-ONE, 1-2-3-TWO, 1-2-3-THREE....agony. BLOOD WINGS!

  • I'm going to airborne and air assault this summer through ROTC, can't wait. Should be a great experience!

  • @mikeyadigone dude thats nuts. i wanted to go this summer but i have to contract first. hopefully next then. so pumped

  • @mattaguitar5 Keep those grades and PT scores up!!

  • @mikeyadigone i had my first diagnostic pt test on friday and got a 230 i think? idk i wanted to do better. i know i passed everything fine but i wanna get a 300 by the test in april. i did better than most of the other MS1's in my class, plus im going to optional tues and thurs pt sessions, so my name will stand out when selection for the slots starts next year.

  • @mattaguitar5 That's good, as long as you're standing out in your MS1 class. I'm sure your ROTC program works the same way mine does but ours chooses cadets for air assault, airborne etc. from the OML (order of merit list). Usually the top 2-3 cadets get offered to go to spefic training. The most important thing is to keep your GPA up preferrably around 3.5 or above and strive for that 300!

  • I did it 1983 319th FA

  • dont know if i should go air assault before i get deployed

  • SSG Jones 1983 3rd bn 319th fa I miss all my brothers love them all 101st Air Born Air Assault

  • Air Assault!

  • I dunno man! I have bad thoughts of the tail rotor grabbing one of those lines and wrapping it and the guy on the end of it up like winding up a yo yo!! Whatta ya do then? ha!

  • Gee guys! We learned how to tie a diaper harness out of a length of rope and clip on with a carabiner (D-ring). Braking was by hand around the back. First time I forgot about the stretch factor and slammed into the ground. Of course we had full rucks, ammo & weapon. Got it right the second time. Deployed to A Shau several times. But that was back in '68 & '69. Training was at LZ Sally. Old school rules! Drive On! Geronimo!!!!

  • Now where you fast roping or rappelling from the blackhawk?

  • @davidcrow1982 i believe they are rappelling, i think with the fast rope your not harnessed in at all. im going to the school next month and cant wait

  • hey vampov...if the ROTC kid goes to the same schools u do...then wtf are you?

  • got my slot, heading out may 5th for knox

  • my son just got there he'll be with1brigade can't wait to go visit

  • Just finished AA school last month!

  • if i get lucky and get my dream pick of ft campbell ... im a 68w...and im able to do air assault, do they also do airborne? i'd love to be both

  • mos and duty station (within reason) doesn't dictate qualification limitations.....campbell has a AAS school but it's an infantry unit, same as drum (where i was) as far as schools it depends on openings thats the basics of it....

  • do they teach that in ranger school?

  • Yes they do, Rangers get their Air Assault training at Camp Hensch Pre-Ranger Course in Ft. Campbell, KY

  • @phlyegles43 it is its own school at the Sabalauski Air Assault School at Ft. Campbell, KY- though they do have classes elsewhere (such as Camp Smith NY where most WP Cadets get their wings)

  • I graduated Class 3-86 Ft Rucker. That was a good school. Squared away instructors, not to mention a CO (CPT ) that was tabbed out Ranger and SF.

  • that looks real fun, but i bet i'd fucking piss myself...

oh well i gues ill have to find out

  • Went through in '98, first time go on everything, but still a VERY challenging course! As for bsugden83, have you been through either of the courses, or are you merely talking out of your ass?

  • ahh that phase was great. Man do I miss Ft Campbell

  • man when i enlist this is guna be the first school i sign up for

101st screaming eagles all the way!!

    rendezvous with destiny!

  • The Basic Airborne Course is not difficult at all. Air Assault is much more challenging both physically and mentally. That said, pathfindercrasher hit the nail on the head. You will understand Airborne much better if you serve in an airborne unit.

Now if you want to talk about mentally challenging let talk about Pathfinder School.

  • Can anybody compare the toughness of Air Assault School to Airborne school. Cause Ive heard its very difficult

  • they are both vary hard its to close to say which is harder im going to do both

  • I've done both and am currently at Ft Bragg. In comparing the schools, I gotta say Air Assault felt more difficult and more rewarding because ur constantly doing physical stuff and learning a whole bunch of shit. The only difficult thing about AirBorne School was getting use to the slower pace Airborne shuffle, running in boots and tolerating the long-ass wait to jump cause there's too many personnel. HOWEVER you'll understand why and appreciate Airborne most when u get to your Airborne Unit :)

  • Air Assualt is way harder than Airborne School.

  • No, u got people who are made for it. and who not. and it is reallyy hard... beside the SF. is this too very very hard.!!! thats why they recruit ppl from airborne for the sf.

  • @killerbees177 At Airborne School you can pass if the laws of Gravity Apply to you. At Air Assault School you can pass if you can climb a Rope and have half a brain + stem. So I'd say Air Assault, but on the other hand if you get stuck in the Sky at Airborne School a lot of other options will probably be available to you!

  • hmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • i did some repelling from a helicopter but not for the army, hella fun shit to do for sure, i am going to air assault in september.

  • Yea but from 1500 ft your chute automatically pulls, rapelling you have to tie your seat and actually lower yourself out

  • I went thru air assault training back in 1996 and the obstable course was where it is now, however the school was further to the south at the time and was much smaller than the new school. I trained with my company for almost a year before I finally made it thru the school which was good due to the coin drops that everybody would do causing non air assault soldiers to do 10 pushups per coin. Anyway great video and it brought back some good memories. Former soldier 1994-2002

  • Im headed to campbell five days from now to obviously rappel out of choppers... the bitch of it is Im a complete bitch when it comes to hights god dammit lmao

  • no, you wont be rappelling out of any choppers this quarter in campbell (they have a lack of air support)....im in the class that is graduating on thurs, we are starting on the rappel phase this monday (just on the wall) but make sure you can climb a rope before you become a day zero drop, good luck

  • lol same here bro. i want to attend West Point, and want to go to air assault school while im there. but, as you said, i hate hights. lol. so im guna start rock climbing to help me get over my fear.

  • west point? good luck. its.... unique. thats all ill say...

  • lol thanks yea i know. i have a friend who is a pleabe there now...some interesting stories. lol

  • what company, might know him. dont say his name just give some details to see if i know him.

ur wat, a senior (in hs?)

  • i dont know if i feel totally comfortable giving this out, but he is 2nd Squad, 3rd Platoon Golf Co. 4th Regiment. The fighting guppies. From new jersey, very religious, just had his shoulder operated on.

as for myself, im am a junior (strait A honors and AP classes. athletics, clubs, etc...). ive also been accepted to the summer seminar for this upcoming summer. serving has been a dream of mine since i was 10 years old.

  • i know a couple kids in G4. ill ask my friend, i probably know the kid or have seen him before.

cool. well let me tell you that while it sucks royally, its totally worth it and no matter how much complaining i do i wouldnt trade it for anything else and it is a great experience.

  • i should have had you just message me instead.... my bad lol

  • lol no problem man. and yea thats my driving force. it may suck in the moment, but it will all be worth it when im marching on the field on graduation day.

  • You need really good grades/high SAT score and

recommendations...I looked into it,just for fun...I even failed an Algebra test today! So,to hell with so called:Higher Learning. But I don't put down others abilities...So go for it,and be a good leader...Good Luck!

  • 90ft ain't nothing man!I did a jump from 10k,

just to see if I would jump. You can survive a

fall from 90ft,but not 1500-?...So, its a good

    choice to go AASLT!

  • How the hell can you survive a fall from 90 feet?

  • you can survive, maybe brake everything in yer body (if you land horribly wrong) but you can live.

  • uhhh u referring to AB at 1500 ft? cuz thats soo not the case

  • Dope on a rope! I can't wait to go!

  • Class 305 The Weak get broken, the Strong prevail, AIR ASSAULT!

  • Class 504-08, Go Hard or Go Home!!! Hoo-ah!

Yeah, I just graduated the most recent Air Assault Course last Friday.

And as for if they fall, the belayman will catch them...or not. Depends on if your buddy i watching butterflies or not. Damn ADD! No really it's all taken care of.

  • Class 22-07, Live Free Or Die Hard, Air Assault!!!

And btw, I went to and graduated from the school after my freshman year of ROTC.

  • and WTF happens if one of em falls?

  • use ur head stupid

  • JROTC kids are a joke. Thats a bunch of junior high, high school bull shit. But I know a lot of prior service people in SROTC, the ROTC that actually counts for something. But you are right, all jrotc kids, and a lot of ROTC kids are just in it because they think they are badasses

  • Class 003-08. The newest of the Air Assault clan!

  • Yeah, because the Airborne Shuffle is something to be proud of, right douchebag?

  • dude i was 2/506th so u can't be that u ain't BAND OF Brothers U Ain't SHIT

  • So, if you are AIRBORNE then you are shit?

  • ppl ppl calm down, my friend was just tryina be smart. lol.

  • this stuff is cooler than Airborne

  • Sweet!! Got my wings at Ft Hood in 90

  • Airborne rangers pussies. hoah

  • A friend of mine who's in ROTC with me went to Air Assault school over the summer.

  • im in ROTC colenel allen?

  • Your in ROTC too? What school are you at?

  • ROTC. Ha thats funny. I went to school with ROTC kids and they were all such pussies that thought they were bad asses. I respect a private more than a ROTC kid.

  • Bullcrap. Unless the cadet is an MS IV, it's not fair to compare them to a private who's been through basic and AIT, because all they've had is a little classroom instruction and zero D & C. Just because your school blows doedsn't mean ROTC does.

  • @vampov Not every cadet is like that. Any high speed cadet will have respect for enlisted personnel. You also have to realize that any 2nd year cadet will know just as much (most likely more) as your average E-2 or E-3. -A pussy ROTC cadet.

  • @vampov i would hope you would have respect for a private over rotc. rotc isnt military.

  • @giggidy87 A lot of ROTC cadets are prior enlisted.

  • @vampov So, because of your experience you think every ROTC guy is a pussy? That just dumb on your part. I know a couple of ROTC guys that fuck up anybody. Think before you talk

  • Nice , but most of all i give props to these pilots. It is so hard to hover, but they make it look like a peace of cake

  • The rocks you fall in on every single day! They have ropes that you fall in on and there is a shit load of gravel and rocks. They make you do 30minutes of push-ups and the front leaning rest. I cut my hand on a rock and it bled like a bitch.

  • what rocks.. remind me.. I was 1/502 it took me 2 tries cuz that first inspection..

  • Air Assault School was pretty rough. The rocks make life annoying...Anyone that has completed Air Assault School at Campbell knows about the damn rocks.

  • was this at ft campbell, i took the class in '88

  • Thats not at Ft. Campbell, Just left there and that area is no familiar

  • Hey what class were you? I was there in 88 also. I was class 28-88.

  • That is awesome that you guys remember your class number. I was there June 98 and can remember it. Hey did you guys have double 0?

    00

  • i still remember my class moto we said when we were called to formation class 19-99

  • The 10 miler in 2 hrs 20 mins was harder. They changed to the 12 miler later on. FIRST STRIKE!

  • the hardest part was phase 2 along with the 12 miler in under 3 hours.....other than that it was good

  • @LuckyDragon01 are you okay if you can run a 3.1 mile without gear in 19 mins?

  • @EdwardIVV Yes. You're more than okay. The hardest physical part for me personally was the 3 straight days of rappelling culminating in the rappel from the helicopter (shown in the video). It beats your body up. Can you ruck march?

  • @fo694013 hell yeah I can. that is why I asked because I have heard about the 12 mile one and I heard that is the hardest

  • @EdwardIVV Sounds to me like your good to go. I didn't think that the ruck march was so hard physically. The worst part for me was boredom. The course (in 2004) was 3 miles out, 3 back and repeat. Luckily, the course was lined with lightpoles. A buddy and I would play a game where we would sprint a couple of lightpoles and then walk a few to keep it interesting. I'm going to send you something in a PM though. It might help you further.

  • go smoke yourself, hard, then climb a rope or you will be a zero day nogo at the o course.

  • im goin in 20 days, how hard is it? any tips?

  • Awesome video. I am going next month. How hard was the training?

  • Im planning on doing that school when i get into ROTC. Im still deciding between Airborne and AA though..

  • I reccomend you take what you can get, ROTC gets few slots, so if one comes along for eitheir jump on it. I got an airborne slot, hardly anyone gets air assault at my school though. Only like 3 ppl in the bat.

  • my husband just finished the school! ya'll have some BIG brass "buttons." go Rakkasans!!!!!

  • Fuckin bad ass man
