  • legally. Also, in terms of modern military combatives involving bombs, 50 calibre rifles, machine guns, pistols (i.e. glocks, etc), tanks, missiles, bomber/fighter aeroplanes, etc where is the role of the weapon systems for an ancient martial art like silat or the majority of other martial art systems in modern warfare? It could be suitably employed in modern military CQC and the unarmed techniques utilised in civilian society, but the lethality of the weapon techniques negates their utility.

  • originally designed for warfare, but transposing an ancient lethal military system to a modern era with legal implications, is a different proposition. Unless you are in the military or in a lawless society, all these techniques will do in civilised law abiding societies, is lead you to prison. The 'self defense'/manslaughter argument will not suffice if you have killed a person by cutting several arteries. I appreciate these deadly techniques, but one has to appraise the ramifications

  • Silat has some very effective techniques, but how would one realistically employ such lethal short range weapons (i.e. kerambit, kriss, balati, etc) on an assailant without legal complications, if there are witnesses present. There is no way on earth that cutting a carotid artery (i.e. common, internal, etc), jugular vein (external/internal), brachial artery, femoral artery, gouge an eye with a kerambit, etc and be within the confines of 'reasonable force' in the UK. These systems were

  • fighting prowess) have missed the whole philosophy of martial arts. Finally, in my experience the ones who are really proficient and lethal in combat are the most humble and 'silent' in discussing martial arts in public forums. They are not motivated by ego or other selfish motives.

  • arts training. It is not just about fighting, but self development and respect for other people. Above all else, peace. Fighting is a last resort and IMHO fighting systems are too liberally taught to people whom psychologically should never be taught any fighting systems, as they either use those skills for ego, self gain/promotion, exhibitionism, etc and are to quick to engage in fighting, when diplomacy can diffuse the situation. IMHO, the people whom are disrespectful, (regardless of

  • One thing for certain is that on practically any youtube page concerning martial arts, there is always an argument of some description going on. I was always taught to have humility and respect for fellow practitioners of other martial systems, regardless of their efficacy. That is their prerogative, even if one does not concur with their combat ideologies. The disrespect and derogatory comments that pervade these pages generally, just shows how little people really understand from martial

  • man.. who said melaka is the older OR the source of malayan culture, melaka was erected by sri vijayan descendant pramesvari, please learn the history well

  • please come to my channel.

I collected a few rare traditional pencak silat videos that has no fancy moves.

  • This is my countrys culture,,, Combine the phisical and magical power at the same time....

the strongest and deadly martial art called Pencak Silat.

    Indonesian Pencak Silat.

  • The trisula/cabang/siku siku or as you might know it as "sai" is from Indonesian origin bu also used in Japanese MA. Because the Japanese MA is more popular in the west it's easier to buy a modern type of "sai" in a sports shop.

  • hmm..MMA not effective if fight one versus all..i prefer silat way

  • MMA is plenty effective

  • the great silat is from maaysia. People seldom said that silat copying from other martial arts, in malaysia, thoudsands of silat are original. Except gayong or others. The rest is more to mystical where thousands of people can die with only one punch

  • nope its form minangkabau indonesia.....

they have older history and culture than malaka kingdom......

  • not the pure one , took many move and style from others martial art .

  • guys ausockee22 so pissed off about silat because a silat girl beat the shit out of him! lol TRUE! also his master gave him pink belt instead of black...what a loooooser! afte he complain...he admit that he prefer rainbow color belt! lol

  • hahahaha funny!

    thats wath the guru said

  • haha

    pencak silat manyang

    nederland

    het demo team

ik zit ook op deze sport

    is echt leuk

    xxnatas

  • i belive any kind of martial art are deadly only they have their own sense of art! so we cant say the other one are more deadly. its all depend on you guys

  • The plague of internet: all the people who tallk too much just because they know to little to realize they know nothing.

  • The original silat predates Buddhism and Hinduism etc and is not religion-based although it focuses on inner spiritual development. Many young Malays are put off that non-Muslims are learning this ancient art and becoming masters while the Malays are losing its inheritance and thus identity. Maybe to encourage more Malays, integration needed together with Malay youths and relax the close-door Islamic requirements.

  • i wonder why then it says its hosted in the neaderlands.......

  • its hard to believe any of you vulgar super offensive people have any true martial arts training. i have trained in silat and kali for 15 years, and know they are as close as kissing cousins in application. while watching them in action, they are indistinguishable in movement and grace and are far superior to any type of karate. the true warrior always seeks peace, not war, or name calling.

  • 15 years you say? Awesome!

I hope u've reached the high tiers of silat to which you can channel your inner chi to damage people without even touching them.

  • actually I can, Im sure you know the battle is won before the first blow is actually thrown. The true vicotry lies in the peaceful resolution of conflict. Silat with its primary focus on killer intstict and total destruction of a foe rightfully emphazies peace above all, but for those who would seek to take your life or violate your family...welll thats another story. :)

  • acutally I believe I have. I live in one of the most dangerous urban environments in the USA...Detroit, and I have actually staved off multiple confrontations and scared off potential assailants with a stare, stance, and mantra. Sadly, I have also had to break limbs in the past, while disarming a couple of folks. thanks be to God! Victory is first accomplished in the spirit. Peace and grace be unto you.

  • What the hell are you talking about? Those are psychological attacks. I meant inner force like the jedi telekinetic throw.

  • silat superior to karate ? u r wrong my friend, looks like u r too up yourself. try a kyukoshin karate exponent or try my master Serkan Yilmaz who is a mix martial art exponent. he's main art is taekwondo but he also wrestle, grapple, box, muay thai, etc etc etc. see his vid - Serkan Yilmaz Taekwondo K1 Fighter. pls do not comment on martial arts that u don't know. i have done kelantan silat and found that the art alone was insufficient but now i am an accomplished mix martial exponent

  • My friend, Karate is inferior to any marital art based off bladed weaponry, or multip[le opponents. I earned a black belt years ago in tae kwon do, but it was useless against multiple, bigger, and stronger opponets. maybe thats why your beloved master has trained in arts to supplement his karate training. Mixed martial arts just get you confused in real combat, thats why they all just wind up wrestling, and attempting to get the best gound and pound. simple knife techniques are still the best

  • yes,if in your society u can walk around with a knife all the time. i have to disagree with u that taekwondo in ineffective against multiple, bigger and stronger opponents, i am only 54 kgs but with my speed i have kick bigger guys at 60- 80 kgs all the time as they are so slow, u can see when they launch their punches and legs. i close in and intercept before they even start. i have doing tae kwon do as my main art but learnt many others and it does not confuse me, i go to ground very seldom.

  • ausockee, you have enforced my belief that you are an idiot. with a single experience in kelantanese silat (which by your attitude i doubt you finished your training) you take as validation the superiority of what you are currently practising. you can kick bigger guys? good. can you kick yourself? cause that's what you need right now. if you've studied silat you'll know what i mean.

  • u have just revealed urself to be a moron, citing the argument that i did not finish my silat training, if u r a true martial art exponent, u should know that there is no finish to silat or any other art,,u dumb fuck...martial arts is a journey, there is no finish.. u amatuer.. u have truly revealed ur moronic status. yo bro, pls stick to ur silat silau...lol, ya, dancing & prancing trying to impressed some gullible orang putih with ur silat myth & spirituality and harping on it.

  • Ausockee my friend....you aint *#@! I live in Detroit Michigan....where you at, Ill show you exactly what you dont know.

  • oh, now i know ur background no wonder u despise silat so much.

  • yeah right... its deadly from inside...

  • Silat will not only hurt ya on the *outside*. Only the malays will get wat i mean..

  • The video clearly says IFAF (INDONESIAN Fighting Arts Festival)in the beginning. You guys must be blind or ignorant. Pencak silat is from Indonesia.

  • beware wat u say mr snake, wat u said to general, hw about all malay slap ur face one time only, u want that?..

  • yap. that datu roe of davao must be kidding.why dnt you try to fight with one silat practitioner her in Phil.,im from davao like you, i can show you one.you will never regrets...

  • Silat is the one that kill BRUCE LEE hahahahaha

  • I'm a clan member of Minangkabau (the original place of silat or "silek"). Hmmm.. nice to see his debutt, it's just a normal physical defense system, but the real one much more effective. The real silat can climb trees like cheetah.. and we have many secrets in silat (eg. you can kick your enemy without physical contact)thats only for the Minangkabauan..

  • doesn't all pencak silat involves tat ? I'm myself am a cimande student here in Singapore and from what i learn, Cimande is one of the oldest form of silat known today which originated from Jawa Barat, Indonesia. Every type of silat is different which applies also to all martial arts in the world. Silat has already gone very far up to this date. From where it originated, it has now embraced others from the west and we should be proud to have such a wonderful culture. I'm proud to be a pesilat.

  • the oldest silat came from minangkabau highland

  • well everyone has their own personal opinion on silat but like what i've always believe in.. Silat is unity..Let us bring Silat forward and not let be a political turmoil..

  • did I write 'bout political side of silat???? You didn't take the idea??? let me tell you once more, that silat came from minangkabau highland in sumatra and spreaded through out nusantara at the time. If you ask the guru-silat they'll answer the same thing. It's a culture! neither a political reason nor confesional reason. Learn more about the history of melayu people.. Sorry, are you western or asian?

  • As any true martial artist knows: no martial arts is superior to another, there is only a different in skill between martial artists. Silat knows 4 aspects self defence, art, fullcontact and mental training. One aspect cannot be without the others. But in competitions we have: art and full contact. This vid shows the art. This vid has indeed some slow motion effects. I hope to post a vid of the Indonesian demo team when they were in Holland soon. You'll see how fast silat is.

  • This guy has the right idea!

  • bah.. the best warrior for me is glen levy.. ninjitsu..

he has the fable Dim Mak or the Death punch!

  • muay thai is better! more practical!

  • Does anyone know where Instructor certification is offered in Silat?

  • Peoples hates Pencak Silat cause this is muslim martial art.

  • the fuck it is its indonesian im a silat guru i know

  • Whoever invented this Silat was possesed by demons and Orang-utan(the silat master!!)No wonder why this kind of Martial is not so popular since the style is so slow, clumsy, blistering thousand barnicles and blistering typhoons! Sucks! REZFLIZZO is right! Indeed it sucks!hahahaha! ang di ka kaya tuwad, ang ma suya lupad!hahahaha!

  • so what do you study that is so deadly?

  • Maybe you are right. Silat is not for u. It is for the people who loves martial, arts, self defense and peace. There are tons of styles and stream in Silat. You only seen a litle of it. I repeat, only a little of it. Hope to see more video clips from you mushu112. Thanks for sending this clip. Goo job.

  • Silat is slow? Thats the slow motion effect of the video idiot. Silat is clumsy? Maybe when idiots like you try it idiot

  • the reason silat is nt popular is because of the humbleness of all the true warriors...why dun u try to fight any pesilat and u will noe tat it is nt like wat u tink

  • silat sux.taekwando rawks

  • your a fagg you dont know shit im a silat guru and i`d literrally kill you in a fight

  • You are a fuckin' retard. TKD is the most watered-down piece of shit to ever be called a martial art. When I only had a year of Kuntaw/Silat training, I could fuck up every TKD black belt I met. Hard styles suck!!!

  • hahaha..you must be kidding tat silat sucks....tkd has a weakness..i spotted it when i see them fight..its obvious...figure it yourself...i admit everything has a weakness bt never underestimate silat...wait till u encounter one then you will noe..

  • Cool

  • Kali is the best...KALi is the Best...this is Useless..

  • Silat is SUCH as beautiful art! I train in Maharlika Kuntaw that incorporates Kali, Pencak Silat, and many other arts. Kali is good because it takes away the weapon by striking and cutting while Pencak Silat takes away the weapon by taking out the base/locks & breaks. Both are good, so why not use them both?

  • I agree. Why both use both? If you combine the use of weapons with the human body, you can be a VERY Dangerous combatant.

  • kali is silat

  • Kali is not Silat, idiot. Silat comes from Indonesia and focuses on taking out the base. Kali is a blade art from India (originally) and focuses on taking out the weapon. Get your facts straight before you open your mouth.

  • stupid american. bodoh benar !!! nak ajar orang melayu benda yang dia tak tahu.

  • Too afraid to insult me in english you little bitch?

  • stupid malay LOL

  • stupid babi sepet. ca ya nun alif laknat.

  • ya betul mmg gampang american tuh, sial gila. Bodoh macam lipan jamban

  • First time dengar lipan jamban...hehehehe.. lipan jamban tu bofoh ker? "Bodoh macam lipan jamban". Simpulan bahasa baru ni. ok.

  • uncircumsised moron.

  • bagus sekali..

  • Cool.

  • come to malaysia and silat....is good for u all...for this vedio is realy cool man..<<<penderhaka

  • yes there are some pesilats that went to mma sports. In fact, an MMA event in Jakarta was held in a silat 'padepokan' (i think it is similar to kyoku's uchideshi). One famous pesilat fighter was Aji susilo, I trained with him for a few months. he also had an international fight in PRIDE THE BEST in Japan, againts Xue Do Won from China, he won by rear naked choke.

There are also other pesilats in indonesian mma event.

  • cool

  • are there any silat pratitioners in the UFC or other MMA sports?

  • nice video..

  • has anybody ever seen a silat fighter make fire with his hands.

  • hmm interesting style...what style of this silat manyang? betawi, minang, sunda?

  • no reply?

  • I'm sorry, didn't recieve a e-mail... Manyang means wasp. It's a style from the Mandurese family Setiyo. Pamor and Badai are also from this family. The origigens are in Sumberpucung on East-Java.

  • The moves and weapons look more like Chinese Kung Fu than Indonesian Silat

  • It are all traditonal silat jurus.

  • All Malay persilatans swear to one guru or the other that they will not be nasty about other Silat styles and their practioners. Yet they always seem to find it nessesary to do so.....

  • karate chop!lol...jk...nice

  • Does anyone know the name of the music? It was also used in a trailer for The Last Samurai.

  • wow i had no idea pencak silat is so poular in europe! i'm from west sumatra where silat is called silek. its one of the main branches of ancient indonesian silat i think.

  • how many style of silek exist?

  • Hundreds.

  • It is silat not silek. There are various type of silat depending frm which region. I only know silat gayong. One of the popular one.

  • pencak silat... its sooo beautiful weapon

  • I have been practising silat for some time.. its a combination of flowery motion and hard punches and kicks.. I proudly recommend silat to everyone out there.. But wateva martial art u practises.. bare in mind.. use it for good and emergency purposes..

  • I, too, love Silat. But unfortunately, I have right-sided paresis, which is a weakness in the muscles of the left side of my body, and I don't have very good balance.

  • As a Belgian, I practise the martial art of taekwondo. But Silat is also practisioned in Belgium, although not as wide as in Holland. it reminds a bit of kung-fu when I look at the movements...

  • pencak silat is getting pretty big in holland. that's because indonesia is an old dutch kolony.

  • very nice.

  • the best silat fighters dont own a video camera's

in other words they live in the villages in indonesia

    and dont flaunt their talents

  • True, but have you ever seen the indonesian demoteam? They show the world how good they are, but they stay humble.

  • *cough*StevenBenitez*cough*

  • Oh, it's an extention of the elbow when used in Silat? Hmmm, interesting. Thank you very much.

  • its so nice to see people from other country still appreciating my culture, im very proud!! is pencak silat popular there? very nice video!! keep up the good work :)

  • Hi, yes Pencak Silat is popular. It's been practise for ages here in Holland, but only "underground" in garage and so on... But now it's open for everyone. Do you practise silat? And which style?

  • no unfortunately i dont practise silat!! its a shame that this martial art is getting less n less attention in Indonesia itself,,so its very nice to know that people in holland are practising this..o ya if u dont mind may i know why u have interest in silat, i just wanna know btw!! :)

  • Too bad you don't practise... I saw the Indonesian Demoteam, and they are the best! I have always been interested in martial ats, but never heard of it till a school opened in my neighberhood. I totally loved it from the beginning, because I think silat has all the elements a martial arts should have. It's a complete system. I hope to visit Indonesia next year, btw :-)

  • I've heard the Tjabang also referred to as Siku Siku. What does this mean?

    Thanks.

  • That's true. We use both the trisula and siku siku and mix the terms up somtimes, but the term trisula refer to the sai, and siku siku to the ying yang sai, wich has one point at the side down and the other up. It might be different for other styles though....

  • someone told me that siku-siku means "elbow-elbow". Why whould this be used?

  • Siku means elbow. I thinks it's because when you hold the weapon the middle "thingie" is sligthly longer then the arm, so it points over the elbow. You can use that to poke, while protecting your arm. (Well something like that...)

  • cool r u dutch lol?

  • Yes, I am :-)

  • waw WTF lol u speak good malay lol hehe.

  • the trisula is called tekpi too.

  • i don't know much.mayb u can ask the one who expert in weapon.=)

  • haha, I know the weapons in the video, but never heard of tekpi. Weapons used in the vid are called trisula, toya, golok and kipas.

  • i'm from malaysia.i don't know much about weapon king but i heard about tekpi.it had been called as weapon king.u can search about tekpi.my organisation is Pertubuhan Seni Silat Gayung Fatani Malaysia.

  • So you meant a weapon? Maybe the Trisula (also called Tjabang or in Japanese it's called sai)? Because when I search for "tekpi" I found this organisation with the trisula and keris in their emblem.

  • wah...permainan tekpi.orang kata tekpi adalah raja senjata.

  • Saya tidak berbicara bahasa Inonesia... Apakah anda berbicara bahasa Inggris/Belanda?.... it must have something to do with the performes with the weapons, a person and "once upon a time there was a weapon king" ?? Please let me know if your comment is positif atau nafi :-) Terima Kasih!
