btw all you Germans should know that there were almost no 1st team selected players for australia in this game, the idea was that we played 8/11 defensive players to pick up a point instead of playing Germany openly to win 3
worst strategy against imaginable and the result should have been more goals to Germany to teach us a lesson on how to play the beautiful game

Reckless challenge = Yellow Card. Use of excessive force, (Ie Intentional attempting to cause the player injury or no attempt to play the ball at all) = Sent off. One could only argue that there was not much malice in the challenge, but you cant ignore the fact that it was a very bad challenge .
Tackling from behind, no chance of getting the ball, high risk of injury for the other player, you're right, that is not a yellow card, that a clear red card. This was the right call by the ref, not that there weren't other decisions that were terrible in this tournament, but that doesn't make every decision wrong. But some people take football or sports only as an excuse to whine about the refs anyway, no matter what happens on the pitch...
