Docking is as simple as a rubber band to cut the circulation to the tail in the first 5-10 days... before any nerves are developed in the tail... so it is both humane and painless. I took the tails from 1/2 the pups of my last litter... and the remaining dogs now whack us and clear tables with their damn tails! When in doubt... DOCK THEM!!!
dude it is actully not brcause of the power its because when the boerboels were in africa they were protectors and used to protect the cattle from other animals so they docked the tail to keep then from injuring them or from a babboon grabbing and throwing the dog
@bonefetish1 They actually have long tails naturally, but because of the massive power behind such wagging tails (if you can imagine) and for aesthetic reasons, most puppies' tails are docked at birth. These puppies were docked 40/60, so that they still retain about 40% of their original tail. Sounds brutal, but since it's done at such a very young age it's not a traumatic or painful experience for them.
