What a performance! Tom Hanks won his first of 2 consecutive "Best Actor" Oscars that year (1993). He won the following year (1994) for Forrest Gump, which was also an amazing performance. Tom Hanks is in my opinion one of the greatest actors ever to walk the planet, and he should've won more "Best Actor" Oscars for his numerous other fantastic performances that he's done as well. @GoodLifeGoodLove A cure might already be found, what do we know. If it's not already found, when they find it they won't let us know. Releasing a cure for a disease that generates billions and billions of dollars to pharmaceutical companies is not a good business decision. Same goes with cancer. Same goes with that disease calle "multiple sclerosis". There is a cure to it, but it's just not practiced in North America. Why? Again, because pharmaceutical companies make billions of dollars

Washington was very good in this movie too. It's a shame he wasn't nominated for an Oscar as well although, Tom Hanks would have still won, I would have liked to see Denzel recognized by the Academy. That was a tough year though. Ralph Fiennes should have won best supporting actor over Tommy Lee Jones too.
