Re: definition of 'gay': Until 15 years ago, people weren't using 'gay' as a general term of abuse for every bad event/thing/person. It still shouldn't be acceptable to do so today, any more than it should be aceptable for me to go around calling stingy people 'Jews' or calling all men 'rapists' or if I were to start calling all lazy people 'Niggers' or all stupid people 'Polaks'. I don't think it takes much empathy to realise that such words offend.
