  • 1:26 he hit puberty

  • if we would unite the westside and the eastside, we would have the weastside and could live in peace forever

  • I really don't get why people are turning hip hop into a west coast vs east coast vs south vs etc thing.

  • tru dat. nobody really owns hip hop even tho in my opinion niggaz like wutang be killin it wit them sik flos. u cant even comprehend dey shit cuz its too good. it just so happens that the world revolves and chage takes place and now we got niggaz like lil wayne gettin the fame now. whats his best line? "she said she wana cut my dik off and take it wit her.. then i falls in that puzzy like quicksand" thats aight fo lowly educated audience but wu tang is the real shit.

  • papoose, canibus, terminolgy, Joell ortiz. Wasn't all these dudes supposed to have next cause they have "bars"? Lmao. Shit is a joke. Lyrics alone don't make you hot.

I'm a refomed rap purist. listening to wu tang doesn't mean I can't like gucci mane. Believe me when I say these dudes is aggy that they music ain't hot according to the masses.

  • Plus just cause you got lyrics don't make you hot. This is the number 1 fallacy that rap purists aka eastcoast listeners fall by. Rapping multisyllabic words is hollow if it doesn't say nothing all the while rapping about guns and crack. That shit is old. Rapping like that is not standard format. That was a time period. Get over it music travels. Look at history.

  • Musicly the east is garbage. No empire last forever. Even Rome fell. East coast artists are aggy that their music has fallen off from the mainstream. it got stale and redundant. Too many dudes either copy the wu or jay. Niggas is mad cause they ain't eating like they use to. Just that simple. Lyrically eastcoast was getting garbage. A new wave of music formed and people move on.

  • lyricly the south is garbage the only reason so many songs from the south is blowin up the mainstream is cause of the beats but the rappers have no lyrics

  • i agree, the midwest hip hop is doing a better job right now, binary star, eminem, common, royce da 5'9, lupe fiasco, MOOD, the list goes on

  • wtf? Hip-Hop started in the East (New York), so we therefore own hip-hop. East Coast hip-hop a shit load more popular than mid-west. The only people that actually stand out from mid-west now is really just Kanye West. We got Jay-Z, Nas, Fabolous, Mos Def, Busta Rhymes, and a lot more. We Own Hip-Hop. Hands Down...

  • Are you crazy? Kanye is one of the wackest from the midwest right now... you need to check out dudes like: MC Juice, Common, Brother Ali, Gemini AKA Gemstones, Consequence, Lupe, Do Or Die, Crucial Conflict, Twista, anyone from Rhymesayers, & many more.

Though I do think the greatest Hip Hop does come from the East where it originated, there are many dope Midwest, Southern, & Westcoast MC's people need to stop sleepin on.

  • @RIPluisito Hip hop started in Jamaica.

  • wtf? are you serious? hip-hop started in Bronx, New York in the 70s.. it's on the internet to so idk where you got Jamaica from..

  • Hip-Hop is not a style of music. Anyways rapping was invented long ago. I actually have seen footage a white group from the 1960's rapping. So Hip-Hop started in Bronx, NY, but not rapping. Remember Hip-Hop is a culture, but rapping is music that was invented long ago.

  • DJ Kool Herc is universally credited as the father of hip hop. He is Jamaican and started hip hop in the Bronx

  • NYC ALL DAY! All the major moves are made up here!!!! WE RUN THE GAME FROM THAT STANDPOINT! That cant be denied!

  • Do you live in the south? Because the real southern artist are being repressed. Honest to God we have lyricist, rappers with great flow and unique styles that DOESN'T get ANY promotion what so ever. I live in Texas and trust me the south is being raped by record execs trying to get a quick hit over a long term rapper. HISD, Jay Electronica, Chamillionare, Little Brother (Minstrel Show is fantastic album) and a list of others are getting NO LOVE what so ever.

  • another mid west MC eminem also Royce Da 5'9 and Lupe Fiasco

  • I own Hip Hop! HOLLA AT CHA BOY!

  • Who says the midwest is killin it when you have hella lot of artists coming from everywhere? You can never give an unbalanced statement because ofcourse you havent heard everyone.

  • Maybe I should have said in my opinion first, becase it is my opinion. I just noticed that most of what I was listening and was vibing to alot, came from the midwest...and I honestly think they are killin it right now.

  • Exactly just your opinion, better answer.

  • Still think they're runnin it, and if you disagree what's your opinion on it. In all actuality I did say "if you ask me," the midwest is killin it...and I stand by that conviction, it just seems so weird that I don't have your perspective.

  • Why does anyone have to be running it? Why not just appreciate music from everywhere without tryna put anyside over another. So noone has any kind of fued or disagreement. The music is what it is and everyone is contributing because we are hiphop.

  • True story, but the entire premise of the video was that this guy said only real hip hop comes from the east coast. We all know that's not true and that hip hop has no boundaries or hierarchies. I was just making a point that even if someone was runnin it, I don't even think it would be new york...it's more hypothetical than anything.

  • oh ok I understand, you said what you said because the other guy wants to make a point to put the east on top of everyone... youre right, my bad I missed the point of this vid. Im kinda frustrated about the whole subject so Im feeling pretty irritable and jumpy about everything. That whole thing about the South is the hottest right now and about people like me listing to that "quiet rap".... I understand what you are talking about now.

  • Word. what do people mean by "quiet rap?"

  • well I like real hip hop no matter where its from as long as its good shit not this new stuff thats been coming out. However personally I tend to listen or lean towards the east coast hip hop a lil more the 90s and 80s stuff anyway but the south def got some good shit and est and mid matter fact I been listening to outkast, hieroglyphics, and scarface all day

  • i know that the east coast doesnt own hip hop now, but back in 1997 the owned it (bad boy records) in particular. they had life after death, p diddy and the fam and harlem world all come out that year, all classic albums. one went 4x platinum, one went 7x platinum and the other went diamond (highest certification possible)

  • yea midwest killin it lyric wise

  • Mid-West!

  • The D has been killing it lately
