I too just tested the GS Mini vs the Big Baby at Guitar Center this week. It sounded to me like the GS Mini got muddied when strumming very hard. The Big Baby has a beautiful, bright sound. The GS was like $100.00 more. I went with the Big Baby and I love it.
The Big Baby is old news compared to the new GS Mini. I;ve owned them both and the GS Mini blows away the Big Baby. I;ve since dumped my Big Baby Taylor. The neck and build quality is poor not to mention the sound of the GS Mini. Go to the music store and play them both, The Big Baby Taylor can't touch the new GS mini in any catagory.
Which one would you recommend as a primary guitar? I'm a small college girl on a tight budget looking for a smaller guitar as my primary guitar. Gs mini or big baby?
@jonterry100 we went head to head at Guitar Center with these two. The GS has a clearer tone, but the Big Baby is not off by much and louder. The GS also kind of breaks up when strummed for country and rock songs. Gotta tell you though the chording, sound, and all around sound of the GS is wonderful. Just too light for my tastes. I got the Big Baby. Taylor kicks ass.

Both guitars are BEAUTIFULLY incredible, before I held a GS Mini I asked the guy in the shop which one was better in his opinion, he told me it was a silly question since they are two very different instruments. At the time I thought what a prick, THEN I played them both side by side. They are BOTH incredible and VERY different instruments, I wish I could have both. I got the GS Mini, wacked Medium Light strings on it as It came with Medium. Best guitar i've ever owned.

I would go with the GS Mini if you want to hook up to a amp, just because the electronics are way good.
If no amp I would go with the big baby . It is a very elegant sounding and looking guitar.
