  • they should redo this movie

  • Arkham City!

  • this movie is the future..

  • V but its not post apocalyptic because its a prison, not a nuclear disaster...

  • Escape from New York is one of my favourite post-apocalyptic movies. Thanks for uploading this awesome trailer!

  • mgs 3

  • Big boss and roy campbell

  • Snake?... SNAAAAAAAAKE!

  • @TheSgtDouglas Yeah ive always wondered if the snake from metal gear solid was based or inspired on or from plissken.

  • im a big john carpenter fan and never been dispointed in any movies of him he's one of my favorite directors its just his art of making movies its just.......GENIUS!!! all his movies are great but my favorites are: THE THING, EXCAPE FROM NEW YORK, THEY LIVE, AND HALLOWEN but out of all of those my favorite is THE THING

  • @SpawnTheReviewer Dont forget about Assault on Precinct 13

  • Upload the moive

  • fenomenal

  • God I love this movie.

  • THIS IS MGS!!!

  • do not remake but give it the sequel with Russel and Carpenter in charge. we deserve it. and a sequel to the THING with both these guys and Keith Davids, damn, it!

  • This might be a low-budget film

    Maybe........

  • Quality.

  • PLEASE Hollywood, for gods sake, DO NOT remake this movie!

  • yes,best sci-fi movie ever!

  • John Carpenter: Epic

    Kurt Russell: Badass

John Carpenter and Kurt Russell together: Untouchable

  • The whole city's a maximum security prison....

    Arkham City anyone?

  • @giogoldlyn or the bridge is mined......

Fallout 3 the pitt anyone ?

  • Wait who's escape from new york? Was it John Carpenter's? Okay just making sure.

  • @cj62392 Yes it's John Carpenter's

  • the title of this movie should of juss been new world order cause thats all i saw throught out the whole trailer smh -_-

  • 0:30 Aww yeah. Theme of the Duke.

    Get funky. xD

  • ohhh,so the idea for MGS is this film looooooool

  • One of the best sci fi films I recommend this movie .

  • EFNY is exactly what I like about Sci-Fi-Films from the 80s: They have something dark, unsparing, brutal which I miss in movie theaters nowadays...

  • snake

    snake

    SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE

  • Yeah they got the thumbs up... and the guy that did the second "Wallstreet" or some shit is doing it... Kurt says" he is too old to be doing the role". "I think he dosnt want anything with this future flop" It should be titled "Escape From The Theater". because after reading the rough plot thats what everyone will be doing...

  • remake of this classic movie...whats happening? anyone know? It's gotta be kurt.

  • I love that groovy 80's music

  • Like if you're a hetero male with a GF and still gay for Kurt Russell...

  • I'd rather have another sequel than a shitty remake

  • @ImpressionisticDesir seriously? in my opinion i would rather have a remake, cause if it's a sequel i sort of feel i have to see it, since it's part of the story

  • I saw this movie at Monster-Mania Con 20 on Saturday, and I met John Carpenter there as well! This is one of the greatest post-apocalyptic action-adventure movies of all time, right up there with the first two MAD MAX movies! And as far as this trailer goes, they just don't make 'em like they used to (so sad)!

  • this movie was freaking awsome but its funny how in the 80's how they thought about the future

  • @bloodysword100 This wasn't a 'serious' depiction of the future. John Carpenter just wanted to make a cool film that took place after an apocalyptic war. This is no more serious than Terminator Salvation or Back to the Future 2 and their versions of the "future" .

  • im 17 and i hate 80s movies but i love this 1...and isnt it ironic that they landed a plane on the wtc..you know after 9/11

  • @85cc144 It's more of a coincidence.

  • Solid Snake was inspired by this movie and Kyle Reese from Terminator. Escape from NY is a masterpiece, but not Carpenter's top 5. I would put Halloween, Assault on Precinct 13, The Thing, Big Trouble In Little China, and They Live ahead of it.

  • @MrHotpantsImComin

every film you mentioned is a classic and i agree with you mate

  • hahaha 0:50 "chock full 'o nuts"

  • might need some help from Snake Plissken this weekend.

  • awesome now i know what snake actually looked like younger lol

  • can you imagine how cheap it was to make that move. some cardboards in the way with fire. some guys running, old car crashing into sidewalks

  • MGS! :D i remember watching the second one but never the first! downloading it right now :D

  • I remember being a teen and discovering this on television at night or something. Me and my brother were crazed watching this because we played the game beforehand.

  • There needs to be a remake of this ...

  • @YFLOInternational Oh, no, please...

  • "Got a smoke?"

  • You don't really have to say JOHN CARPTENTER'S Escape from New York each time, do you?

  • @RichardElden you have no taste in films. This is one of the cult classics of American Flim History. Kurt Russell is known for numerous rolls especially playing Snake Plissken. Plus the Legendary cast in this flim. Kurt Russell, Donald Pleasence, Issac Hayes, and Lee Van Cleef. You cant replace them.

  • search and watch "Escape From Kurt Russell"

  • this is how modern trailers should be - atmospheric and not revealing much about the plot in general...

  • 0:08

    Twin Towers :c

  • Many movies are set in 1997, Escape from NY, Terminator, Terminator 2, Predator 2, and 2001: Space Odyssey. WHY? Why was 1997 such a scary thought?

  • LOL!

  • John Carpenter is cinematic genius

  • @Tacom4ster Idk, hes had quite a few bombs, lets settle down with the superlatives.

  • @1000rtodd I didnt say he was a money maker

A true artist dont care about the Box office

  • @Tacom4ster I didnt say he was a money maker either, in fact, I said nothing of money or ticket sales. What I meant by "bombs" was movies that I thought sucked, and theres a few of them. However, The THing is one of my all time favorties.

  • THIS FILM IS A MASTERPICE !

  • Is this worth getting?

  • @abisivepoo It's one of the best movies ever and a much better action movie than what's in theaters right now. So yeah

  • This is what inspired the metal gear solid games.

  • @MrPSYCHGRIM agree

  • Comment removed

  • they Live was John Carpenter's best movie and I here that they're making a new remake of it.

  • @heat45jc ya but it will never match up to an 80s classic especially without roddy piper and keith david and no carpenter involvement at all im sure

  • @heat45jc theyre also remaking The Thing well its a prequel its probably not gonna be that good either but hopefully it will and will keep the same feel as the original but i doubt it no kurt russell and no john carpenter = a brand new hollywood butchered remake piece of garbage

  • this makes me want to play borderlands :)

  • @MrPSYCHGRIM solid snake was named after snake plissken I knew there was a link between the two

  • @jackooisawsome Then try looking at a picture of Big Boss, then at Snake Plisken. See any similarities? ;)

  • @MrPSYCHGRIM Not the games themselves, though, just the characters of Solid Snake and Big-Boss.

  • @MrPSYCHGRIM Inspired? Kojima basically stole the whole design of Snake.

  • @MrPSYCHGRIM so did the terminator with kyle on the cover of the game

  • @MrPSYCHGRIM I always thought that was the case. That's awesome :D

  • @MrPSYCHGRIM is it?

  • Ya it certainly is

  • @MrPSYCHGRIM

Don't forget Rambo first blood. Snake was based on Plisskin and Campbell was based on the colonel. But those were the MAIN inspirations.

  • One of the greatest movies of the 80:s or since the dawn of time for that matter.

  • Escape from New York is part of an exciting dusk-to-dawn retro show at Crazy Bob's Harvest Moon Drive-in Theater in Linden PA this Sun. night May 29, 2011, Memorial Day Eve. • "The bridges are mined" ..... *mini explosion*

    LMAO epic

  • THIS MOVIE IS KURT RUSSELL AT HIS KICK ASS BEST. LOVE THIS MOVIE , LOVE THE CAST. JOHN CARPENTER IS MY FAVORITE DIRECTOR, JUST ABOUT ALL HIS MOVIES DELIVER THAT PUNCH THAT MAKES A MOVIE KICK ASS.

  • I got to see this when it first came out to the theater and so have seen it many times since. for some reason I never get tired of watching it. I guess by today's standards it a little slow action wise but I still love it.

  • escape from new york & ecape From L.A ..... Épic

  • Man I laughed so HARD at that wall on 0:56 .. hahahaha!

  • anyone knows about an italian b-movie that copy escape from newyork? i cant find it and i forgot the name

  • I love how in this movie the U.S. police are using the m16 but without handguards in 1997.

  • Snake is a gangsta

  • Snake? Snake!!!???!!!! Sssnnnnaaaaaakkkkkeeee!!!!!!

    Random MGS Parody.

  • Yeah, Snake Plisken was the insperation for Solid Snake. One of the all time greatest charactors ever made for any medium. One who actually eclipses Plisken completely and becomes, what I believe, thousands of times greater then anything Plisken had done. Thanks Kurt, you have helped give birth to a great charactor.

  • im glad that kurt got the part but i like see charles bronson do the part

  • Tasty trailer. Thanks for posting it.

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Snake Plissken truly was a bad enough dude to rescue the president.

  • Snake? Snake?!?? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!!!

  • @Trollnumber12 lmao

  • is this the new york snake?

  • I don't give a fuck about your war or you president!

  • Hell of a Great Movie, i love the city

  • Witness the birth of Solid Snake.

  • @Haiina Thats Big Boss. lol

  • 25 people didnt escape from new york

  • "...HIGH ADVENTURE OF THE FUTURE..." meaning: in the future people will be getting high and watching this.

@Tobiasthedude have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up.

  • @boleplissken indeed my fellow stoner

  • @boleplissken I like how you quoted eddie murphy there.

  • @abisivepoo busted! you got me.

  • @boleplissken Your comment towards Tobias put a smile on my face. Time to go get some coke and shut the fuck up.

  • @killu19 enjoy!

  • This movie sucks so bad that I couldn't even laugh of how ridiculous it was...

  • i love so much this movie, john carpenter one of the greatest.

  • There was one thing I didn't understand about the movie. If the government decided to make Manhattan one big security prison, and nobody was allowed in or out, then why didn't they just destroy the 69th street bridge altogether, and all bridges for that matter? Instead, they set up various mines that appear to be no less than 30 feet apart - not exactly foolproof if you ask me.

  • @yankeesfan6300

If I remember correctly, there was a huge wall at the end of the bridge. A guarded wall.

  • if you are a true snake plissken fan then you should know that they should have called it escape from clevland because there were only 2 scenes in the movie that were shot in ny. one being the statue of liberty in the begining and the wrestling scene the rest was shot in ohio

  • @A1dukeofNY I think it was St Louis dude

  • Comment removed

  • why would they abandon Manhatten

  • don't like it, i LOVE it

  • still a Classic !

  • whats that movie he came out on where hes lookin for a diamond nhe meets some woman whos an author?

  • 0:56

    thinnest wall EVAR :L

  • @Cpt50Caliber 0:51 Thinnest floor EVAR :P

  • I don't remember this happening when I was 3

  • If they decide to make a MGS movie then Kurt Russel should get a role, not necessarily a big role, (maybe just an extra) but still a role.

  • I remember seeing this movie in the theater on opening night.....I was 7 YEARS OLD!! LOL! My mom was a HUGE Kurt Russell fan. What I remembered most was the blood flowing between Adrien Barbo's bosoms and the hands reaching up and pulling people underground. I remember telling my older sister I wish hands would come up and take her away! LOL! When I saw this movie when I was older, I loved it so much and still do!

  • I liked to part where he said John Carpenter's Escape From New York

  • in remake snake cant land on twin towers

  • Shit i cant wait for 1997 its gonna be so.....oh wait O.o

  • @senjin801 lololol

  • I watched this late at night one night, didnt know what it was. Never wouldve associated it with anything that wouldve had funding for commercials.. they mustve remade this movie cuz I was thinkinh something different when I heard Escape from NY

  • good movie

  • They don't make them like this anymore!

  • damn this was the movie i saw and i thourgt it was escape from la

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE !

  • I came here because of Living Legends 4!

  • It's funny how the future is 1997... Hahaha.

  • @gundamzerostrike i laffed when escape from la came out in 97

  • @gundamzerostrike same here hahahahah XD

  • @gundamzerostrike John Carpenter was a century wrong, it should be 2097.

  • Those dusty models playing the part of New York City were actually perfect for this film. The place no longer lives, it rots as a haven for thugs. Who can honestly say that the helicopter flying towards it at 0:10 isn't a beautiful shot, with the shimmering water and old gray skyscrapers reflecting the lights. There is no hope in that town. Going there must be like plunging deep into the woods; Here There Be Monsters.

  • I love these early Carpenter flicks. Some of the most atmospheric and moody movies ever made, but also some of the most FUN.

  • A classic. :D

  • @DreckFiction yeah i fuckin love totall recall and commando :p

and if you like schwarzy , i hope u saw last action hero lol

  • @DreckFiction i didnt like it that much . Did you see Absolom 2022 ?

  • he snake , call me plisskins

  • lino banfi

  • strange how Hollywood movies predict planes crashing into buildings in New York.

  • I'd rather see a third instalment on the series with Kurt then to see another remake destroy a cult classic. What are they going to remake next, Army of Darkness? Shows the lack of talent over in Hollywood.

  • Solid Snake. Snake Pliskin.

Metal Gear Solid 2 - Solid Snake/Irquois Pliskin.

  • Batman: Arkham City.

  • 25 people didnt escape from new york

  • @jamezvice2009 HERP DERP THUMBS UP FOR MY CLEAVER COMMENT HURRRR

    Fag.

  • @jamezvice2009

Hahaha! I laughed out loud reading that

  • I LOVE THIS FLICK

  • movie is OK

  • I've heard the remake is back on? YEE-HA......But without KIRK RUSSELL? BOO...

  • @MegaTrainspotter i also heard of a new mad max

  • Get yourself a new president!

  • wow, I didn't even know all of this was going on 13 years ago

  • Well one thing we know for sure, it's 2010 and New York City is not a maximum sequrity prison :)

  • When is Kurt Russell gonna be a Bad-ass again?

  • john carpenter, is like george lucas. except more arthouse type.

  • Was this the inspiration for Batman: Arkham City?

  • impressive special effects, good action

  • Wow that looks wicked, I didn't know he did the old one, I didn't know there was an old one!

  • I went to New York in 1997 and it was exactly like this.

I was even given a free cab ride with Adrienne Barbeau.

  • Sounds like Leonerd Nimoy doing the voice over

  • Still one of my favorite movies.
