Eliminate Video Lag on YouTube

The lag is actually caused by the speed of your processor, and video card. Your connection causes the video to do that crappy buffering thing where that white icon spins in a wheel......I have fast connection, but my desktop has a crappy video card. So the video lags in HD because the video card can't handle it all. Solution = Buy a new video card, or new laptop that can handle the strain......

seriously though, mines the same, allthough iplayer through the tv and nintendo wii is fine, it uses flash as well.  Maybe flash is doing something internally which interupts the playback.

@babbatoots The videos are getting so huge on youtube now, you need a good internet connection even people with a fast pc have to sometimes pause the video for a minute and let it load a little bit first.

I tried to put up my first video and it lags bad. I tried what you said but still no luck. If you could check it out maybe you can see if it lags for you...I loaded it in AVI and it took hours to load up. I don't know if that is even normal. I edited my video in Adobe Premiere pro cs4 and converted it there too. I would be thank-full for any ideas. Please help.

My problem is not lagg here, my video loads completely, but sometimes the image just freeses but the sound goes on, so when the image unfreeses it just skips to the "scene".. I really hate this because i am skipping ALOT of things in youtube and have to return it couple of times on one scene just to see what really happened.. This happens about anywhere else then youtube too!

This help vid was a good one for the issues back in 2009, but there is something different going on causing the vid lag and buffering recently.

I have a few systems, but for examples sake I will just present the one I am on now. It is a HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop with a 2.8GHz 64 bit Dual Core Processor, 4GB of 2000MHz RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 480M 512GDDR5 Vid Card and 500GB HDD and I am on a 10Meg down 4 Meg up internet connection.

So I should be having no problems with lag or buffering on my end.

That video playback setting and your internet speed ain't even gonna help vith video lag problems at all if one has a shitty video card, not enough RAM, and/or an old processor that's not powerful enough!!! I know because my cousin has an old PC from when Windows XP first came out and she cannot watch YouTube videos that are uploaded after the 1 GB upgrade thing came into effect!

The actual problem in most cases is Youtube itself. Youtube doesn't want to supply the bandwidth to send all these HD videos, and so even if you have a broadband connection, the video will lag and take forever to buffer. I have 10 times as much bandwidth as I need to receive youtube video, and still it takes forever to buffer. And the video files may be 1 gig when you upload them, but youtube compresses and downgrades them, they are much smaller for the people watching them.

I would say it is in your cache being to small, pagefile, or virtual memory can do it too.

youtube videos are so huge now, go into your tools and internet options and under the general tab and browsing history or cookies you will see where it has a size for your internet cache it should be 1024, default is 50

Windows lets apps run and control system resources with permissions. the apps are viral executables. What makes them not a "virus" is that they do not duplicate or install themselves on other computers but they could be written to. Windows apps are commercially supported virus's that are not configured to replicate. I have the mozilla flv codecs installed therefor the DO have access to my RAM. but once there they cannot find Windows os to control and just sap memory harmlessly.

On my cox cable 2mb broadband connection connection with an average 1.75mb down and 256k up it's buffering the video at twice the play speed or better but still lags. the flv videos don't lag from internet speed, they lag my device.

I don't watch your vids a whole lot, unless ones on a subject im having problems with, but I think when you record your screen your should either turn on mic boost or turn up the volume of the mic, or even in post production turn up the audio level for that portion of the video.
