They're still Norma Jean. Since they were Luti-Kriss, they've still been putting out the same messages but with different sounds. Dude I hateddddd the new CD, then I gave it a chance and kept playing it untill I was absolutely amazed. Give it shot

There's no melody or harmony. There's a severe lack of phrasing. The overall tone is rubbish (and I've never said that about drums before). Even the show itself is pissy.

Id like to point out the immense breakdown of this song and the intro riff, where the crowd starts clapping, in both there is a clear display of melody, harmony and phrasing.

What this group of musicians create is pleasing to the ears.

Its a tight performance. Baring in mind the sound quality is not the best its still good.

I don't think you understand music very well. There's a melody in every song, no matter what song it is. That's what a song is. Maybe it's not very complex, or you just don't like it, but it's still there. Norma Jean isn't the most complex band out there, but they're still entertaining and good musicians. Tone doesn't make anyone better or worse. And this show, and all Norma Jean shows I've been to or seen in video are amazing, they have so much energy, and it's fun to listen to and move to.

I'm also confident in my experience with music. It's what I've been doing and living since fifth grade - ~10 years.

And I don't literally mean there isn't a melody. I know there's a melody in any piece of music, that'd be insulting to say. What I mean is that the melody here is garbage. Listen to Battles, they have talent.

And it's your opinion that the melody is garbage, but in my opinion, it is great. And it's more than just a melody that makes a song. I'm a bassist, and I play all kinda of music, and I almost never play a melody, I play a rhythm usually. That's incredibly important too, so by focusing on melody, you're disrespecting all drummers and bassists and other rhythm section instruments. You fail.

unless he is refering to monophony, which just involves melody, he has a point though, in a normal homophonic song melody is supported by the rhythm and really is the centre focus in the piece of music any musician should know this and basically music isn't music without general direction, in other words you would listen to a backing track of a pop song because it would sound like repetitious garbage.
