sorry mate, I make most of this stuff up on the spot, but try downloading programs that can slow music down and then learn by ear, or if you can write out the notes.

I play viola, but I'd suggest getting a violin, because you can do a lot more with it.

More then half of the songs for viola require another instrument like a violin or a cello. While just about any violin song sounds good with the violin.
