  • were you pictching? oops typo

  • I wanna go on a cruise! But im soo scared something like this can/will happen.... :`(

  • me and my friend had a bet that if he dropped me off his boat in the middle of the ocean that i couldnt swim to land with nothing but shorts do you think i could?

  • @TheMBH15 sure if you want to get hypothermia and can swim thousands of miles

  • Jump in and I bet they wont ever find you.

  • I was on a cruise with waves like this to Alaska.. the pool was amazing while the waves were like this

  • It was either the adventure of the seas or the explorer or voyager, one the 3 first voyager class ships

  • If i was on that boat i vomit stomach out of my body.

  • it sucks being on the ship when it's like that, you eat it into the walls when youre walking to your room.

  • where was this

  • was it rocky?

  • i "cruised" on them both n im only 15 , lucky me ! another one in decemnber will be ma 6th cruise ever

  • Could you feel the rocky ness

  • are you sure? thats around 3-5 metres tall waves. its because their cruisin a huge ship. tray sailing with smaller boat

  • it loooks like liberty of the seas

  • Where was this ship going

  • Meu Deus que mar !

  • Me and suny will be in the storm, we love it.

  • go on a cruise to alaska through the bering sea. big big big difference. im also going on a cruise to mexico apiril on this ship

  • I am going on a cruise on that boat and i went on it before man WAS IT A FR*********** disaster people where flying everywhere and glass was breaking and a person fell down the stairs in the atrium

  • lovely day to go swimming

  • Hahahahahaha I was thinking the same thing.

  • It's either a Freedom class or Voyager class ship.

  • WHAT SHIP WAS THAT IN THE DISTANCE???

  • royal or celebrities (the shape of the ship)

  • I think it is Royal but I just don't know which one!! I think it is either a Freedom class ship or a Radiance class ship.

  • Adventure of the Seas was in the background, the ship I was on is Mariner.

  • wow, i was wrong but not by too far

i should have said voyager class but frredom and voyager look pretty much the same from a distance

  • Big wawes, but nothing for a 300 meter cruise ship. Cool anyway:)

  • Perfect place to go and try my new 14" aluminum boat + 9.9HP engine.

  • Ha ha, sweet.

  • dont waste gas, just take ur paddles along :p

  • @StrafingMoose

    I'll bring the beer!

  • I'm scared to go on a cruise now next summer. FML. ):

  • what ship did you go on?

  • Mariner of the Seas, RCCL.

  • i went on a criuise there were gail force winds and 20-25 foot waves

  • Why is there not a heli-surfer on this shit?

  • Makes me feel seasick!

  • AWESOME!!!

  • after watching these big waves, p e e r into a kaleidoscope so amazing, even Wikipedia calls it "spectacular". filmed in high res, this kaleidoscope NEVER repeats itself.

type *Blue Siberia* in the youtube search bar

  • bering sea??

  • No this was in the Atlantic.

  • So it was transatlantic as I expected, hmm yea you can get big waves out there

Quee Mary 2 is built to handle like 70 to 100 ft waves O_o

    I literally couldn't feel 7 on a Caribbean ship, I guess 15 or maybe 20 wouldn't be too bad on a transatlantic...

  • Great waves.

  • could be wrong but i think that ship in the distance was a voyager class

  • Yep, that was Adventure of the Seas in the distance. Sister-ship to the one we were on.

  • ha yea i've been on adventure, voyager and freedom. I'm going on serenade pretty soon too

  • how do you know the exact measurments of the height of the waves, speed of boat(which is in knots not mph) and finally the wind speed? Rubbish swell for surfing

  • These numbers were given to us by the Captain of the ship over the public address system. And this might be news to you, but it is possible to calculate mph from knots.

  • amazing waves!ஜ۩۞۩

  • dude these would be some sick waves if there was a break there damn a reef right there and your talking 30 footers

  • dude ur a kook these are not ground swells and it would be shit to surf theres like a 5 sec swell period

  • haha well maybe some people like to take it in the ass by big waves, whatever floats their boat..

  • Nice video but these ain't HUGE waves

  • True, when i where goin from Helsingborg to Helsingör there was way worse waves, and that was just a ferry, i where drunk are where showering when the waves washed up to the reling, it was uber fun. but then some joy killing crewmen came out, and he actually dragged me inside again. quite strange, but this was just a regular ferry. fun tough.

  • can you fit a sidecar????

  • @klavss76 lol u surf it big guy

  • big waves, but not huge.

  • are you on the royal caribbean cruise?

  • Yep, this was on Mariner of the Seas

  • i went on that too!

man i love cruises so fun. hope you had a good time on it.

  • joexpark, yes we love RCCL, that's the only cruise line we go on. We achieved Platinum status in the Crown & Anchor society for frequent guests, oly 5 more before Diamond. :-)

  • For the Fools saying they've seen bigger... Do you realize that they are 30+ feet above the water on this deck?

  • depravedone" i have seen much bigger waves than this ! the video is very good but when you start breaking windows on d deck (thats when you know you have problems) we had 60ft swells and hurricane f12 in mid atlantic, lots of damage to the ship and broken windows flooded cabins ect... its not fun when you look out on prom deck and see waves wash over the whole length of it! added to the fact that you cant eat even if you wanted to due to it being so rough even the kitchens close !

  • Ive seen bigger waves in my bath.

  • shouldn't royal caribbean be taking its passengers through calmer waters?!? i mean, i personally wouldn't mind it, but some other passengers might really have a problem!

  • duhh itz caed da ochean and ddaa weather duhhha duh!

  • arequipa1, we went through a cold front that caused the winds and seas to really pick up. They closed all outside deck areas about 10 seconds after I shot this video. In fact on the original video I kept rolling while they came out and kicked us off the deck then sealed the doors off to keep people inside. It was really something.

  • It's so exciting!

  • iv seen bigger.

  • i use to be afraid of the sea, i really have respect from water

  • so the water respects you? or is that just a typing mistake?

  • TYPING MISTAKE , I MEAN i am THE ONE WHO LOOK WITH RESPECT THE SEA !! I'M AFRAID OF IT

  • oh ok i see now lol

    my bad

  • hahhaha kisses byee

  • ?now im just confused again

  • The sea always amazes me..

  • yeah it was scary people were falling off their seats and everything it was scary shit sometimes it when you walked up and the wave was coming it was like walking up a hill

  • i was crossing the irish sea wonce and there were about 50-60ft waves hitting us from the side

  • Geez, with waves that big, even with stabilizers on the ship (I assume you were on a ship!?) that would just about roll that ship over, wouldn't it???

  • Im thinking the Captain wouldve turned into the waves in that secnario..not sure tho...im not much of a deckhand...

  • those aren't waves those are swells

  • wow huge :P

  • hear the bloke say 20ft waves? have to be bigger than that. i have been in 12ft sea's just today fishing and these waves look huge compared to what i seen today.

  • When I see footage such as this it typically weaves it's way into my dreams...waves of overwhelming scope.

  • judging by the sea state i reckon it was about a force 7 at most. you are probably getting the tail end weather of a storm that has passed ahead of the ship. the swell is 90 degrees to the ships course to keep the passengers happy i suspect and stop the sawdust being liberally scattered on the ensuing vomit party.

  • 80mph winds would have blown you clear off the deck. Anyways, good footage

  • Winds were 61mph, plus ship speed into the wind.

  • would defo sail thay

  • When I Was On Carnival Miricle We Were In GINORMOUS WAVES!

  • I was on that ship, its pretty nice. We had waves like that on our cruise, but they were at night. Where was the cruise headed?

  • Boats are used more than once dumbass.

  • He said he was on that ship, not that cruise.

  • Calinzed, maybe you should think before you type....

  • ive been on that boat it was friggn awsome

  • go to hawaii in the winter, you'll see some insane waves.

These are pretty tame in comparison

  • DAMN!

  • I remember when I went thrgough tropical Depression Gamma on a Costa boat and it was amazing easily fifty foot waves. The spray would hit the very top decks. They roped off the lower decks and me and some friends accidently ended up out there and got soaked to the bone in sixty degree sea water. Then later that night me, prolly five guys, and like six girls(even numbers) just whent out and stayed for about an hour, just chillin out ;), before we got busted and then they made us go back inside

  • i cant believe they allowed you guys to go up on deck in big winds and sea's like that. some of those guys looked mighty big poppin up out in the distance, before tehy dissapeared

  • We were kicked off the deck just seconds later. I have that on video too. I may upload that later.

  • lol please do thats wicked funny

  • is that the carnival hip cause ive been on that

  • Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Seas.

  • Haha sweet! I was on that boat over Christmas of 2006. Awesome ship!

  • Cowabunga dude...what a neat ride that would have been. I would have been right out there to enjoy that. Thank you for putting it on the Tube. :-)

  • jump and swim

  • GOOD LORD!

  • The ship was RCCL Mariner of the Seas. WInd speed was 61 mph, plus the ship speed heading into the wind was 19 mph, for a total of 80 mph. This was announced on the loudspeaker by the Capt and also was verified on the weather and info channel in our stateroom.

  • You should put the ship's name in the keywords. You'll get more hits

  • what ship was that and where was it/where was it going?

  • Great waves.

  • that at the end that hit the boat that looked huge

  • That is a royal caribbeaa ship?

    Which one was it?

(Can tell from the life boats :))

  • some waves seems like reaching 12m

  • it is on a rccl ship, i think

  • This is an 7-8 in the beafuort scale.

    Really funny!

  • mmm, its possible, they are standing in a little bit of a lee, hence why you can hear talking and not just the woosh of the wind, b/c its obviously blowing decently. Im assuming by "wind sheer" they mean relative wind, so 60mph true +20knot ships speed gets you there, and the beaufort scale calls for 30' sea waves w/ 63mph sustained true wind...

  • The highest winds I've personally been in were 122 mph - but that was a hurricane (I'm from South Louisiana). I've traveled right at 80,000 miles at sea on ship and went through one typhoon in the East China Sea and 3 tropical storms in the Atlantic. My personal experience tells me that if that boat was in 80 mph winds, NO ONE would be hanging out topsides, especially against the rail. BS seems to be flowing about.

  • The crew was bust clearing all outside decks when I shot this. I cut it off from the video, but as the video continues we are escorted off of the decks, and they "rope off" the outside doors to keep people from going out. It was pretty bad.

  • now that makes a bit of sense

  • haha yea 80 mph wind, you would have been blown off of that boat.

  • Looks fun!

  • NICE...that looks like..a Norwegian ship?

  • mmm, ripples...

  • nice

  • No way it's blowing 80 mph dude. maybe kmh but not mph.

where were you heading Mykonos, Brighton, Key West ?

  • what cruise ship where you on

  • But this is 2d, you get no depth in video, so cant see how big the waves really are. They are big waves.

  • thats kinda scary! looks fun though. :-)

  • I Love The Sea Too Much But In The Same Time I Hate Him Too Much

  • What tiny ripples!

  • Jesus Those Waves Are freakin Massive!

  • wow! That must have been exciting!! And fricking cool! I can just imagine the HUGE waves!

  • its that the ameland boot>

  • im hungry for n.s. lobster..

  • The waves looked much larger in person, and my estimate of their size was just an estimate. The waves were so big, in our room on the 7th deck, forward, we were literally tossed out of bed! Our bodies lifted up off the mattress when we'd hit a big wave. It was incredible.

  • dammmn those waves are big, i love this sort of stuff!

  • What ship?

  • where is george clooney?

  • what ship was this on and whatsea were you in?

  • According to the Beaufort Scale at 80 mph the waves should be 46+ feet tall. This is the description of what the waves would look like. Huge waves. Air filled with foam and spray. Sea completely white with driving spray. Visibility very greatly reduced. None of what I saw there. More likely it was 40 to 50 mph winds which would make it a force 8, which matches perfectly the waves your seeing. Either way it's not pleasant to be out there int hat stuff.

  • And also, I didn't go out and measure the height of the waves but my guess was 20 feet. Others onboard said 25 - 30 feet was more accurate.

  • I think you are correct with the 20 foot size well at least at that wind speed. Many people forget that wave height is measured not from the bottom of the trough, but from sea level. I've always wondered why as well my boat has to climb out of that hole at some point, not from the sea level.. Still, good pictures and not fun to be out there in that stuff.

  • Nice, thank you.
