I'll thumbs up you because you're right but you gotta keep this in mind that this is just a demo for a product. How else will Jordan Rudess make easy money by doing random stuff with companies products that they'll think people will buy if they see it's used by the legendary Jordan Rudess.
You know, a song isn't a dick size contest. I personally measure a song's quality by feeling it, and by its depth. Scenes from a memory sure is awesome. So is this little piece of music. It is a great relaxative. I must admit that's not Rudess' best job. But I won't say it's shitty either.
Now that you talk about playing repetitive bits, don't you find the great AA songs a LOT repetitive ? If you do, does that make you dislike the songs ?
I consider all music as music. Let it be Death Metal, Rap, Hip Hop, it's all music. To say some style of music is not music, is to disagree with ones identity, and their love for the art. It's music. You may not like it, but it is music. You don't like that style of music? Then that obviously means you're not even trying to make an effort to understand it's cultural value, and what makes it good for others. Understanding another one's art is a key to understanding other cultures. Remember that.
P.S. this definitely is not the best representative of Techno and Electronica, or house either. If you still think Techno and Electronica music isn't music, consider this: Roland the company that made the piano Jordan is playing, has it's roots in making gear that was used (and is still used) by Techno and Electronica artists world wide. One of which is the TR-808, one of the most popular rhythm sequencers of all time. Michael Jackson, Kanye West, YMO, are among the many who have used it. lol
I´m going to thump down the video because I´m jealous.
