I think if you were standing beside the plate when hit you would get injured from the shrapnel. Check out some IPSC/IDPA shooting videos and when the people shoot the steel targets, look at the ground around it, you will see the reasoning for my answer
"Liquid Armor" is better and can buy all the chemicals you need off of Ebay. Soft Kevlar into Semi hard armor for dirt cheap compaired too the price of plates.
Soaking your kevlar in shear thickening fluids is a revolution in armor. Check out the other video's about it
this is a boring ass video. you didnt even show the armor up close to see what those rounds did. what makes this vid different from all the other million vids of people just shooting at nothing?!
@BoneCollector503 you can clearly see it leaving small dents, and im pretty sure he is shooting at that steel plate thingy... ya know the thing with huge sparks flaring up after the "bang". *dissables smartassism
@chubbs636 yeah i said the video was boring im not an idiot like you trying to explain a whole fuckin video! its still boring! he didnt pick up the plate and show it up close smartass!
@BoneCollector503 he doesnt need to show the plate up close u can clearly see the damage from where the camera is, you can see that the bullet doesnt just bounce off leaving a dent... it explodes and shatters leaving just a scratch. imo it was more entertaining and interesting then most of the stuff on youtube
Those puny rounds usually do not have enough mass to damage our plates...shot even SS-109s and M855 AP rounds now the 7.62x54R APIs very nasty we have plates that stop them.
Shooting steel that close is not safe. Bullets might recochet and find you. Just use frangible rounds like the shooting competitors and LE use.

@artemiopatino Do you mean spalling or fragmentation? Spalling is shards from the armor hurt people inside the vehicle/behind plates.

It was cool to see the bullet fragment. You don't see that often in videos.

Can you tell us about that shield your gun is mounted on? Also can you make a part (2) showing a close up inspection of where the bullets hit?

SO I could wear this in my IOTV. Cause this seems better than the ceramic plates we're issued in the Army. How heavy is it?
