Alas, Aloha Airlines ceased operations in 2008. Between 1950 and 1958 I flew many flights on their DC-3's between Honolulu and Kahului. These flights were at much lower altitudes and speeds than are possible today. I loved the inclined walk up the aisles of these old tail-draggers. Yes, these flights were noisy and sometimes bumpy due to weather, but the lower altitudes ensured great sightseeing. Sorry to find Aloha Airlines gone.
Love this video.....i am a former F/A with Aloha....was hired in the late 80's, remember my first uniform....now been with American for 20 years..miss the good old days!!!
I could quibble that some of the pictures and films were identified as being from the decade previous to the one they actually were from - but - with Aloha now gone, it's nice that we can at least see this stuff, and remember
notice that they have the same plane model for almost 4 decades the Boeing 737-200. I found out that aloha began phasing out their 737-200 in the 90's with 737-300 but had a change of heart and whent back to the -200 mistake in my opinion because Go! aircraft were much more efficient than the old -200 where if they got -300 they might still be here today. Also i put it down to bad management ;they were expiriencing financial trouble they should have sold aircraft + gone for a LCC model approach
It wasn't a change of heart, it was that the 737-300s engines weren't cut for the constant island hopping. They would break down more than the 200s. That s why they still used the 200s.
I have never flown Aloha however i think it was an innovative and comfotable airline. I was rather shocked when i saw that aloha are out of business but lets look at the bright side, think that we are all forgetting that aloha are still flying cargo. maybe with a little financial backin and economical aircraft they may start up passenger operations again.financial backing this airline aint goin noware. Its a betta fate than ATA dont you think?
Hawaii has lost an icon in aviation. Sometimes we take things for granted until its gone. Over 60 yrs of service in hawaii. Things will never be the same again flying interisland. Thank you to Aloha Airlines and all the crew that made hawaii a special place to live and travel. I am gonna miss my fun bird.
Mahalo Nui Loa Aloha Airlines. Thanks for taking me all across the islands. Thanks for the time you took my class to the Big Island on a field trip. Thanks to all the good staff who were happy to let us on an earlier flight. I will miss you. :[
Its very sad and upsetting that Aloha Airlines is going out of business. After serving Hawai'i for over 60 years, we wish Aloha Airlines could stay. Aloha and Hawaiian Airlines were one of the few airlines that first came to Hawai'i. We wish the very best for you, Aloha AIrlines.
ALOHA OI... ALOHA AIRLINES.... Can't blame no one in particular. People blame Mesa(GO!) Airlines but if you think about it. If people were loyal, they would still fly with Aloha/Hawaiian airlines and boycot Go! THEN I think Aloha still would be flying. Anyway I need to look for my Aloha Airlines stuffs to sale on ebay.
Your right BUT, I'm loyal to Hawaiian Airlines since the 80's... had problems with Aloha back then. Anyways, my friend who cleaned planes for Aloha already list stuffs on ebay.... selling like hotcakes. He's out of a job but it's better than collection unemployment.
Flying isn't something we do because we love it, but rather to push your limits and fly more than the other guys, and that's so you can just keep your job. The airline industry is the only industry that treats its customers, and its employees like thier worst enemy. Sham on all the airlines, but more so Mesa, for they are the worst of them all. You can't dissagree with that.
It's sad what a mess the airlines have bocome. I want to be a pilot, but with all the fus and competition idk iff i'll ever get hired. It's sad that the economy is declining, especially the airline economy.
Very sad at the news, our love and best regards to everyone who dedicated their working lives to Aloha. The skies will lose a little sunshine from today.
yes, i think we are all saddened by this event. i didnt appreciate them that much till now but i never they had so much history. this is a very sad day in hawaii.
Aloha airlines was a great airline, I will always miss Aloha airlines. :( I hope to see the aloha name fly again.
