@RoseBubbi a wash is paint that is heavily thinned with water. I do that so the underling greens and yellows of the grass show through slightly and the shadow doesn't look flat.
@TameStrawberry Thick color worked very fast to create a slight blending effect. simple white or off white lines over the darker sections. If you search "Tim Gagnon" it's a modified version of his wetter technique.
Really like this painting :) is there any chance you could do a video on what acrylics are the best/decent ones to buy and what you might need to buy with them like thinner or something. Thank you
@DavosMoon I appreciate your answer, but I live in a place where I can get some art products so I was looking for some common products, I had read somewhere that I can slow drying with glycerin , but does not work very well. Thank u very much anyway =).
May I ask what brand of paint you use? The paints that I use changes hue when they dry so I have hard time getting the right color sometimes. Self-learning artist here.
@philnoondance the only paint I know of that changes hue are gouache. All acrylics will darken slightly when the dry as well though. I use either Golden or Utrecht Acrylics, which are high end professional brands. If you're looking for something more budget friendly with the same constancy pick up Liquitx Heavy Body.
That is an amazing painting, the only thing I do not appriciate that much is the background wich kinda looks like a bad waterfall. But dude, if that "waterfall" that i'm calling it had a texture and the actual looks of a waterfall that painting for me would be epic and I would probably start drooling all over my computer. Kepp it up! Awesome painting, truly awsome.
Ain't tim artwork inpiring man ? I got to undertand acrylic painting a whole lot more now with thi tutorial of your man ! thank you !! u r indeed a great artit a well !! I ue oil painting but lately I have been captivated by acrylic .. Fater, cleaner and cheaper !! ha ha ha saludos desde Mexico !!!

That tree is mindblowing, good job.

How did you make the background? It's amazing and I really want to know how I could draw it!

this is really good but why do you grip down on the brush so far? If I do that I don't have the control I have if I grip it right on the end.
jhaley12 2 months ago
@jhaley12 you answered your own question. It's about control. I don't have a steady hand, and it's the only way I can get those defined lines.
DavosMoon 2 months ago
Awesome. I really like that :) what did you used as a wash? Just black paint and water or something with magical properties? :P Best regards, Greg

@gswiaczny yeah, it's basically a wash.

Anyone know how to slow drying time of acrylic??
titandelapocalipsis 3 months ago
@titandelapocalipsis
1. Use "Golden Open Acrylics"
2. Use a retardant/drying medium to slow down drying time.

@garysquirrelreviews I never heard of wisp brushes.
DavosMoon 5 months ago
@DavosMoon Aqualon brushes, they have fingers to help make multiple strokes
garysquirrelreviews 5 months ago
@garysquirrelreviews not sure if I'd use something like that. Or have a use for them.

Nice work, Davos.
You might consider looking up the terms "umbra" and "penumbra" . . . it'll help you refine your shadows, if you want them to be more realistic . . .
aerofart 9 months ago
@aerofart well I gave up on true realism long ago. This is my style.
DavosMoon 9 months ago 2
@DavosMoon Oh, yeah, that's right. You even said so in the beginning of the video. Sorry about the critique then . . . . either way, looks great!

yah, your technik (bad speller) with the shadows, seems like much more real.
