rancid came out of Operation Ivy, so I would say they are real. Descendents still going strong, out of Fort Fun CO. But as far as the hardcore sound of the 80's, it's pretty hard to find. maybe if you cross the garage sound of the white stripes with the some of the songs of rise against.
