First off this is ITF rules. I happen to practice both regularly and while I'm firmly in the black belt devision in WTF, I still struggle sometimes against some colour belts in ITF, this is due to punches to the head being included and more importantly ITF tap tap side kicks which wouldn't score a point in a million years in WTF (therefore I usually don't even bother to block them) but do in ITF...
Thus different rules make very different fights... and different perceptions of who good or not.
por experiencia solo me limito a decir que el estilo wtf tiene mas potencia en las piernas aunque en itf eso se puede trabajar,a wtf le falta utlizar mas el puño,el itf tal vez no sea tan visualmente espectacular como el wtf pero no es lo mismo pelear con las piernas y no cubrirse que hacerlos con manos y piernas,precisamente tae kwondo significa camino de manos y pies
mas ke de acuerdo yo estudie 5 an^os wtf y ahora volvi al tkd pero ala itf y me ha costado mucho porque aunque son pekes diferencias se te salen las man^as que ya sabias de antes T.T y mas en los examenes

hmm i dont particually wanna argue but ITF uses full-ish contact kinda depends on what school you go to really, but WTF have they're hands down alot because they're not used to punches which ITF people on the other hand are so it comes down to the martial artist him/herself in the end
@b3rk95 Well even though ITF does not allow full contact, it is many ITF competitons who allows full contact, and ITF does not use FULL equipment, and they can use hands, and holds guard. And on the streets you cant really use your feet to kick THAT much.

@b3rk95 the amount contact allowed varies a lot between countries and comps,in eastern europe its often full contact especially for black belts.Officially its light contact continuous sparing not semiconatct which is points sparring.The lack of the head punch renders any sparring a joke.Serkan did well in kickboxing due his unique attributes and ability to learn boxing,no other tkd lad ,itf or wtf could ever do anything.
Bueno, quería dejarles mi comentario. Como practicante de taekwondo,( como practicante de artes marciales) considero que depende 100 por ciento de la persona. LLEgué a punta verde de ITF, y he peleado contra categoria de TERCER DAN teniendo tan solo 17 años, y les puedo asegurar que la jerarquia no determina el resultado de una pelea. AHora hago kickboxing y he hecho tambien jiu jitsu. TOdo depende de la 'persona
pues para mi la WTF es un deporte y la verdad admiro mucho su rapidez y agilidad con las piernas..!!! y La ITF (arte q yo practico) es un verdadero arte marcial q es muy completo..!!! en lo particular prefiero mil veces la ITF claro respetando la otra linea..!!! y como dice mi instructor.. " no es el arte sino la persona q lo practica"..!!!
Sorry to say, but the ITF representation here is very, very poor. There are so many more talanted ITF fighters. The WTF fighter's hands were constantly down and the ITF fighter did not utilize it even once, plus her kicks were quite poor as well. Overall, disappointed...
I gotcha, i was thinking the same thing. But you know im skeptical about these vid in general cause not everyone fights the same. I know some REALLY good WTF fighters and I know some VERY good ITF fighters. It just depends on the person actually. (im itf 1st dan)
i'm TABG 1st dan, ITF 1st dan and WTF 3rd dan and personally i think wtf is better,when i watch an itf class i feel like going in and pointing out everything they could be doing better...anyway both copetitors are rubbish in the vid.

el Taekwon-do es una herramienta de defensa que tiene como todo su face deportiba aunque la ITF va a torneos entrenamos formas y todas las patadas del TaeKwon-do (tambien se usan mucho los puños) y tamebin se aprenden defensa contra agarres entre otras tecnicas... gente el Taekwon-do aunque no sepan tiene alrededor de 2000 tecnicas, la ITF tambien usa las patadas que estan en la WTF por que son las mas comunes y efectivas si se las ejecuta bien, pero hay una diferencia muy importante...

itf is quite different to karate nowadays ,it used to besimilar to shotokan with more kicks before the 1990s.That said I dont think any tkd is very effective in a ring or on the street.
is it just me or are nether of them using there speed to anywere near its full potential all there movments are farly slow and reluctant and neather full gives the all in any of the attacks
I was like "PUNCH THE HEAD" throughout the whole fight, the ITF fighter definately underused what is the advantage of her style..., she was within the punching distance so many times and just kept kicking...
You know, if people spent LESS TIME trying to make their fighting art look better than all the others, and MORE TIME training and making themselves better, they might actually amount to something..... :)
Honestly, the outcome of a fight has nothing to do with the "Style" that a person is using. If you win a fight, it's just simply because you're the better fighter. And the fighting styles of WTF and ITF are just FAR too similar to actually tell which one is "better".
Isn't it funny when you're watching others spar you easily think of ways to counter attack and defend and to just spar better, yet when you're actually in the ring it's much more complex! Anyway their guards were down WAY too much and it worked to the advantage of the winner, plus ITF just kept walking into the kicks.. I learned the hard way, DON'T try to attack full facing. It hurts!

Como arte marcial, ITF y WTF no se pueden comparar, claramente las patadas con giros al pedo que no se usan en una pelea del WTF son menos efecivas que las del ITF, y ni hablar del golpe de puño.

If this is a fight then I won in Olympic games 1000 times! Just gold medals! There is no speed and no real techniques. A black belt can not kick properly? They should fight explosively not with 6 seconds of rest between. And then they hold their legs in air and swing them. They do not use their hands quicky. They should use everything they have got. Confuse enemy, be quick, have sharp techniques, think fast, move your body, defend quicky.

This video, or any other like it, doesn't prove anything about styles. It only shows who is the best fighter out of the two. After all, a kick is just a kick regardless of styles, its always down to how an individual executes their technique

wtf stance have larger spaces stance forward stance while in itf L stance
wtf common kicks are 45 skip 45 itf common kick is side step side kick and punch
wtf are more on kicks and 10 punch itf all kicks but no bullet kicks with punches also

ahh y una ultima cosa los que quieren deitinguir a lo de la WTF de la ITF se tienen que fijar: que los negros de la ITF tienen rayas en la cintura y cuando se va pasando de dan se agregan lineas negras en los brazos y pies, los negros WTF usa cintas negras en el pecho y en la espalda los de la ITF siempre dice Tae Kwon-do ITF

el Taekwon-do es una herramienta de defensa que tiene como todo su face deportiba aunque la ITF va a torneos entrenamos formas y todas las patadas del TaeKwon-do (tambien se usan mucho los puños) y tamebin se aprenden defensa contra agarres entre otras tecnicas... gente el Taekwon-do aunque no sepan tiene alrededor de 2000 tecnicas, la ITF tambien usa las patadas que estan en la WTF por que son las mas comunes y efectivas si se las ejecuta bien, pero hay una diferencia muy importante...

tu objetivo en la vida es pelear en la calle? si es asi estas un poquito tocado de la cabeza, un buen maestro de taekwondo no va por la calle peleando como un personaje de videojuegos, tampoco es bueno subestimar a la gente por lo que se ve en un combate reglado, en la calle te puedes encontrar alguien que no sepa nada de artes marciales y te puede dar la paliza de tu vida por eso es que en una pelea callejera depende mas la persona que lo que practique.

no hablen mal de la WTF sin saber de que hablan, ambos son sistemas de combate similares, solo que en la WTF se permite el knock out pero no los puños a la cara, y no se piensen que estoy del lado de la WTF porq soy de la ITF, es una falta de respeto putear un estilo de combate sin conocimiento alguno.

itf is quite different to karate nowadays ,it used to besimilar to shotokan with more kicks before the 1990s.That said I dont think any tkd is very effective in a ring or on the street.

I was like "PUNCH THE HEAD" throughout the whole fight, the ITF fighter definately underused what is the advantage of her style..., she was within the punching distance so many times and just kept kicking...

You know, if people spent LESS TIME trying to make their fighting art look better than all the others, and MORE TIME training and making themselves better, they might actually amount to something..... :)
Honestly, the outcome of a fight has nothing to do with the "Style" that a person is using. If you win a fight, it's just simply because you're the better fighter. And the fighting styles of WTF and ITF are just FAR too similar to actually tell which one is "better".

Isn't it funny when you're watching others spar you easily think of ways to counter attack and defend and to just spar better, yet when you're actually in the ring it's much more complex! Anyway their guards were down WAY too much and it worked to the advantage of the winner, plus ITF just kept walking into the kicks.. I learned the hard way, DON'T try to attack full facing. It hurts!

nada tan espectacular, la wtf se dedicó a atacar, la itf a defender sin recursos. En conclusión, itf está bastante atrasado, pq la wtf era bastante malita, si le hubiese tocado una más flaca o más rapida, el ko se venía en el primer round xD sin ánimo de ofender. Es solo actitud.

Como arte marcial, ITF y WTF no se pueden comparar, claramente las patadas con giros al pedo que no se usan en una pelea del WTF son menos efecivas que las del ITF, y ni hablar del golpe de puño.

bueno, creo que hablais de la competicion y sus reglamentos o limites, o sea del taekwondo deportivo, no se si sera facil para un luchador wtf cambiar el chip a itf y si puede ser una ventaja o no. creo que el el individuo no el taekwondo, aun que en wtf se practica menos sin duda el golpe de puño.

my "master" and his son are both most experienced in moo duk kwan style..
the father is 9. dan.. grandmaster. he always teaches traditional taekwon do too.
so i dont know a real difference, exept the one in competitions
but if i look this fight i gotta puke.

i just learn everything i see. now i have to make a breakfor one year, because i had two operations on my knee and have to do a lot of physiotherapy and "rehab"
but for me, i never saw one itf guy better then an wtf guy. and i saw a lot through last years. and i never saw one wtf fighter who is afraid of fist fights, or dont know what to do.
if you saw you shall check how his abillity for tkd is.

If this is a fight then I won in Olympic games 1000 times! Just gold medals! There is no speed and no real techniques. A black belt can not kick properly? They should fight explosively not with 6 seconds of rest between. And then they hold their legs in air and swing them. They do not use their hands quicky. They should use everything they have got. Confuse enemy, be quick, have sharp techniques, think fast, move your body, defend quicky.

Claramente ninguno de los dos estilos es superior al otro. Lo que hay que ver a cá es que la chica de wtf hizo mejor uso de sus recursos.
Tanto el taekwondo como cualquier arte marcial que sea bien utilizada por quien la practica seá un arma altamente efectiva.
No limitarse a un solo estilo y abrir la mente es la clave para hacer de tu arte marcial la mejor.
