  • Great little distiller

  • Comment removed

  • can you do this without using the charcoal, and couldnt' u just disill it like 2 more times to get it at around 80% ABV instead of using that high end reflux still?

  • please tell me what ABV means? i have no idea what that means. and so just to understand there is 19% aho in the wash, then you distill that and from that 19% you would get 60% pure. and if you want stronger do it all over again.. right?

  • alcohol by volume.

  • was just wandering once distilled what is best way to store it,if it has been distilled will it still ferment ,if not could you just store in screw bottles thanks

  • once the alcahol reaches a certain % it kills off all the yeast thus stopping fermintation. once distilled all your doing is removing water, Store in a mason jar, bottle, or age in a wood barrel....

  • This still seems to be "hot" atm, but I doubt if it's a great way to make alcohol. There is way to much plastic involved. Capacity and fun isn't great either.

    But thanks for posting anyway!

  • aren't you worried about the plastics touching the ethanol? In a still of that nature you have so much plastic, you're even collecting into plastic. those parts over time will erode thanks to the ethanol passing over them. the pot may be stainless, but the insides of the top part are not. as well as your filter and your collection chamber.

  • I have a 5 gallon fermentation bottle (its cheaper than a glass carboy) but there are different kinds of plastics.

I know that solvents such as xylene and toluene wont erode HDPE (like a gallon that milk, or distilled water, or something else is distilled in)

I think you make a good point, when doing this, be sure what works, and wont erode.

  • It looks as if the bit you're starting with isn't from a wash but after an initial strip run. I've never had a wash that was clear as that. Usually, ferment goes to 15%+, strip run ends up around 70% abv, refine run is around 80%abv. If that is indeed from your wash, how did you get the wash to be so clear?

  • theres clearing agents you can add to the wash which helps the solids settle to the bottom of the wash

  • yes thats right 40%. They are the best stills you can buy in the uk

  • there's no plastic inside the pot. Its a stainless steel pot!!!

  • The still in the video go's to 40% ABV however if you are looking for a higher ABV we have a super reflux still on our website that go's to around 80% ABV.

  • i nearly bought that type of still.

Except the shop was asking $399.00AU so bought "The Amazing Bucket Still" it works a treat, just takes Longer!!!! but its worth the wait.!!!1 Great Video by the way

  • Where did you purchase the still that you are using?

  • Thanks for the great video!
