Your side note on that button is incorrect, Buckethead uses two arcade style red buttons that are integrated professionally on his white les paul custom, one on top near the straplock and one on bottom near the volume knobs

Uh, mind my previous comment. YOUR KILLSWITCH METHOD WORKS!!!! The only parts I got were from my old CPU Case which is the reset button switch and the power switch. I had to use 2 so one could be the "permanently silent" switch while the other is the... "whack-em" swtich. Peace bro!

For those who have an old computer at home and it's totaled, before you put it in the junk shop... Get the switches and the wires from it first! Because this kid is a GENIUS!

Holy shhhhhhucks... you need to learn how to tune you're guitar. Also, you aren't supposed to strum the intro to jordan. It's hammer-ons. And I this.k you could've made that a bit more compact. here is a pedal thata can do that. its from modtone.its called a shutter/kill switch, it dies 2 things.

But this way you can kill the guitar quicker with your hands instead of your feet.

i did this but i messed up 2 things... 1) i got the wrong cable that doesnt unscrew. but its better than what i had. 2) mine works in the opposite way. when the button is pressed, sound comes through, and when it is released, it goes silent. but thats not that big of a deal. im not going to play Jordan or anything im making my own song, and the pattern sounds exactly the same either way.

I tried this and I get a lot of hum with my distortion boxes when I use this cable. My silencer equipment can't kill the hum all the way. Is there a way to do this same thing without sacrificing my tone? Would soldering it make it sound better?

@13thNemesis Because the circuit breaker is a tiny button located in the plug. Hitting it accurately while playing is difficult at best. Apart from that you have to remove your hand from the strings quite a bit, so this will affect your speed. The idea with the removable killswitch isnt bad. an alternative would be the kill pot by shadow electronics. you simply replace one of your volume or tone controls with it and you have an unobtrusive killswitch.

You can use a pedal too. If you get a pedal and hook the input cable into the output cable and vice versa, and stomp it on, it cuts the power. Sure, your foot will be tired, but it won't cost you any money if you already have 2 cables and a pedal :P
