  • This is the greatest game of all time and some of the best 2D animation that will ever be created. Hope Don and Gary stick with the idea of a movie. Can't wait to see yours

  • @paranormalnorthtexas Thanks for the comment. Hopefully my movie can get the necessary backing it deserves. Let others know that it's in the works.

  • it was MAGICAL as Don Bluth is !

  • I forwarded your site to a dragon's lair enthusist board, I hope you get funding to make the film, I really want to see it.

  • @Maniac536 Thanks for the positive input. Which site did you send it to?

  • @sleepyeyedsolutions dragons lair project . I keep trying to post up the link but the site returns me an error every time. Just google it.

  • @sleepyeyedsolutions The site is The Dragon's Lair Project w w w (dot)dragons-lair-project(dot)com

  • re: Shenmue - trying to figure out how a 10 year old game for a game system that only lived for 2 years can be "still used" (plus it had "real-time 3D battles interspersed throughout" wikipedia).

Instead of movies about insantiy and depression (aka: King of Kong and Chasing Ghosts). Why not do a film on Nintendo from it's start through the NES days. There's over 20 years of separation from the DK and NES days. I'd love to see what you can come up with, so I'd push for a broader audience.

  • Wolf 3d was earlier - but Doom set the whole industry into FPS motion. Quick - name a competitor to Wolf 3d at the time it was out - or even within a year. Any one?

History-making usually means the entire industry follows your lead. As opposed to footnote, which - while interesting - isn't a game-changer.

  • Not a flame, but a simple rebuttal. Anyone who has played the game Shenmue can tell that the watch-then-react format is still used. As far as Doom is concerned, I'd credit Wolfenstein 3-D with the first-person shooter craze. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for commenting.

  • Changed history is a bit of a stretch. Apart from the flash in the pan 80s and a year of the early 90s, nothing came of the format or the gameplay apart from some early CDrom titles with similar play mechanics - which also faded away by the mid-90s.

Place in history - yes - changed history? That'd be reserved more for the likes of Doom.

And before you cast me as a hater, I own a full-size Dragon's Lair machine, which eats an LDV1000 player every 2 years (it seems).

  • @mgabrysSF there are still games of this style... lately i saw a ninja game, where you have to press the right button at an exact time for special moves in ingamefilms
