was litening to this band all day in my car today. Dusted off my oldschool out of print cd's and hit the highway. This song is Epic!! At least for me it is!!!
These guys opened up for Faster Pussycat (4/23/11) and sounded great. Singer still has a great voice/lungs. Amazing how some of these 80's bands still have "it."
I've been searching for this song for more than 10 years. I had forgotten the band's name, and remembered just one lyric: "hey pretender, dream your life away." For the first time since 2000, I performed the same search and the YouTube video came up. Victory! In hearing the song again, I'm instantly reminded why I've been searching for it for so long -- it's a brilliant song. The singer's vibrato and range -- just remarkable by any standard. Well done. First-rate song writing.
Wow, I can't believe the videos I'm finding on YouTube these days! I had ALOT of these type of videos recorded back in the day from 'Headbangers Ball' & of curse my folks got rid of them once I moved out, argh!! Anyway, I saw this band back in the early 90s in FL, when they played @ Livestock in FL-great band live too! Met the bassist ;)
I have been trying to find this song since it came out. I was a huge fan of it, then grunge happened and it all disappeared. Glad to see they are still playing...as am I. Once you have the addiction, it seems to stay with you. Awesome to see some newer video of them playing it live...thanks for posting!
Jesus Christ. I don't wanna die without seeing bands like these performing. They need to make a great come back and tour.
Something is got to give! We have to see the day when great bands like Cry Wolf get the media promotion necessary for them to expand. I am so tired of the media monopoly playing the same ten artists all the time.
It's like Blackie Lawless said on a song from the Crimson Idol album: "The record industry is the chainsaw, where music comes to die".
I am so happy to see Cry Wolf still going strong. Great video. Judy from Karmin Limited in Houston, Tx. You tube has brought a lot of things right into our homes. I would have never thought that; but I'm 65 years old now. Keep it up
Steve Knight is awesome! It's crazy how many bands had really, really good players back in the day. The outshined the bands they were in, usually. One thing you really notice is how many players had great vibrato back in the day. I think a lot of newer players are lacking that aspect. That will always be a defining thing for me, as to who is great or merely good.
@thestrawhead Nothing crazy about McKnight blowing Vai away. That's who my money would be on too. Vai may have found 1001 uses for the whammy bar including 'Bulgarian Wedding Music', but that doesn't make him God. The crazy thing is Vai seems to be the benchmark upon which every other guitar player is measured upon. Generally the people who think that could probably only list a handful of guitar players and therefore seriously need to expand their musical knowledge. Guthrie Govan is God.
@MetalFatigued Hi. I do agree with you at least partially. Mainly in that Steve Vai isn't the greatest guitarist ever, including just the 80s....George Lynch,Reb Beach,Vito Bratta,Nuno Bettencourt,Mick Sweda,Eddie VH,Paul Gilbert, and Ritchie Kotzen are all better guitarists than either Satch or Vai. Just because you have more publicity doesn't make you the more talented player!
Git Fiddle! LOL! I've never heard anyone call a guitar that except for me before! LOL!
I'm freaking out! Cry Wold on youtube??? I didn't know! This is awesome! Did you know they're doing a show with Soldier and Stryper in California March 5, 2011? If you're near San Jose, California, get to the club called Avalon!
@unstopakill im really good friends with steve ive known him since high school i went to go see Cry wolf and Stryper last night in Santa Clara both bands are amazing and Steve is just fenominal the way he plays its literally jaw dropping.
why the fuk can't i find any of these guys' songs on lime wire...? i only found 1...(I am the Walrus) this is fukin retarded...do i need like a japanese limewire for fuksakes? just cuz they were popular only in japan?
Killer song! Thanks so much for posting! I had their CD...loaned it out and never could get it back! SHIT! I loved their sound and how I long for the days of long hair...killer solos and great vocals! Hmmmmmmmm
