I think Patti is a little to theatrical and it can iritate at times. Both ladies are the bomb , but Aretha just straight up brought you that emotion, no oversinging. if patti was or is so much then people would have went out and made her records number ones!I love Patti but Aretha gave you a perfect blend of soul and sound!

Patti screams noisy notes. Aretha sings with soul, when she is not eating. Both very talented but HUGE differences in style. ReRe wins hands down. Better range of vocals, better voice and also is a talented pianist as well. But give it up for both girls.

This song is weird. I think Aretha's recorded version is better than Patti, and Patti here live better than Aretha live on this song. It is also noteworthy that Cissy with those notes in the original version made them as much a part of the song as the lyrics so that no version can exist without them.

I was under the impression that Aretha was VERY honored. Any diva with the credentials of Aretha should feel secure enough.... So I wouldnt put too much stock in all this riff raff about some kind of beef between the two. I dont believe that exist. These are two powerful black women, who at this stage of the game, shouldn't feel intimidated by anyone. My hope is that one day, Aretha is able to return the favor of honoring Patti in song. That would be something to see.

This song is weird. I think Aretha's recorded version is better than Patti, and Patti here live better than Aretha live on this song. It is also noteworthy that Cissy with those notes in the original version made them as much a part of the song as the lyrics so that no version can exist without them.

For a reaction to the news of Aretha Franklin 's diagnosis with pancreatic cancer, Patti gave the Queen of Soul a moving tribute, saying:
"I called her two weeks before it was publicized, so I knew for a
long time that she had pancreatic cancer. And I knew for a long time

Patti is one of the most amazing singers and she is Patti Patti. she does thing most singers would not dare do, she works her ass off and its shame what people say about her. I've seen her when her voice was not completely there and still gave it 100 persent and when she could sing her sung for her.

Patti Labelle is in no way a better singer than Aretha Franklin. She may have a better voice/instrument today than Aretha though because Aretha's voice is shot.

If you check out most of Patti Labelle's videos where she is singing live, you will see her bring people to tears, or move them in some way. Not many singers can do that; this woman is a force of nature. People can proclaim someone to be the queen of this or the king of that, but personally, i am drawn to what moves me.....and Patti Labelle is the only singer who moves me. It's not even about not liking Aretha.

I'm really not trying to rile up any Aretha fans, but.....Aretha should never sing this song again. This now belongs to Patti, and I think Aretha, judging from that pitty pat hug she gave Patti, was very, very annoyed with the fact that someone else took her song and sang it better than she did. Patti was just phenominal(sp?).

I was under the impression that Aretha was VERY honored. Any diva with the credentials of Aretha should feel secure enough.... So I wouldnt put too much stock in all this riff raff about some kind of beef between the two. I dont believe that exist. These are two powerful black women, who at this stage of the game, shouldn't feel intimidated by anyone. My hope is that one day, Aretha is able to return the favor of honoring Patti in song. That would be something to see.

i can agree with fans on both sides..i dont think Patti sung this better than Aretha..but i dont think nobody can sing it the way Patti did. I love Patti because she aint nuthn like Aretha, I love Aretha cause she aint nuthn like Patti..comparing the 2 is a waste of time..what appeals to yours ears shouldnt be explained or challenged..it just IS WHAT IT IS!!
