Realising the group 14 insurance tag on it clearly didnt help me. With the c2 vts having group 8 makes sense. Also my c2 vts sticks with my mates saxo vts, his saxo gets away in the bends abit but when you consider how light the saxo is it really is awesome. Saxo vts is awesome but get over yourself. fanboy lmao

If the c2 vts was so great it would have sold as well as the saxo vts. But it didn't because it wasn't as good.

Suzuki swift is just a better car than the over priced and over weight mini. Best swift sports are Jap imports as they come with 140bhp. the ffront bumper is better as well.

Originally, I wanted a Cooper, I realized it's so expensive. That's why I laid my eyes on the Swift.

MINI has better handling, but I'll get almost the same performance and better BHP. I'll go for the Swift.

BTW, a Suzuki Swift costs about Php 730,00 and a MINI Cooper costs about Php 1.7-1.9 Million! That's a LARGE difference considering how close they really are.

I absolutely love my Swift Sport. Here in Australia, the Mini Cooper costs more than AU$6500 over the Swift Sport. There was no way I was going to pay that much more for less car.

I like the slightly more discrete styling of the Swift and the fact that it's a 5-door (only the EU models are 3-door), making it a little more practical. Also, I like the fact that it only comes with a good old manual gearbox which helps to discourage posers from buying the Swift.

To be honest I haven't driven the BMW "mini" I'm sure it is a brilliant handling car just like all BMWs seem to be. my gripe with it is how people have bought into this idea of mass advertising that it is a modern mini with 60s credentials when it clearly is a totally new (medium size) car from the ground up.

I dont know any stastistics but side by side the original iconic mini looks half the size......but I know which one Id rather be in a crash in though !

I live in Thailand now, and the price difference between the mini and swift is astonishing. The Swift sport here is about 600, 000 bht, which is just over 10,000 uk pounds. The mini is 1.5million baht more.

swift sport=£11,995 mini cooper=£13,795, thats not £1,500 differance thats £1,700. so if track speed is important y not consider Nitous Oxide kit for £500 and an induction kit for around £100?

that would still make £1,100 saving and a 35bhp to 55bhp increase (wouldn't recomend the 75bhp NoS jets due to high compression ratio on the swift)

Top Gear is an amazing show, but yes it does have trouble reviewing small cars. Fifth Gear reviews smaller cars more often, but is generally quite dull. I'd rather watch Top Gear any day.

As for this test, I'd still take a Suzuki Swift Sport any day, it looks better (come on the Mini is like a tiny box on wheels) is more funky (who needs a stupidly large speedometer anyway) and considering its £1.5k cheaper at least, who cares about 0.9 seconds?

yes you're right there, a lot of new model japanese cars are based on european styling but it really is apples and oranges. japan is also (way) behind in diesel technology because diesel-powered vehicles are frowned upon and banned in most major cities (i know because i live here). personally i think hybrid technology is a long way from being practical, and diesel is by far the better option (the mpg on diesel is MUCH better overall, no matter what the stats tell you)
