  • thank you very much!!

  • That is DEFINITELY Diana Damrau playing the queen in this particular clip. There is NO mistaking her voice in that role! NONE! :-) I love her!

  • Pity, this would be a great production to watch in its entirety.

  • Do you have the queen's full version?

  • You would tihnk there is a recording of this out there somewhere since, well, we have THIS footage already!

  • Robin, ¿te casarías conmigo?

    Robin, ¿Would you marry me?

    Robin, heirate mich.

  • In this footage, I see Diana Damrau (the fiercest Q of N of all time!), Juliane Banse, Hanno Muller-Brachmann, and Rainer Trost.

  • Yes, you're absolutely right! Hope, my comments cleared up the misunderstanding!

  • This was done in 2004 or 2005?

  • wow, i hardly recognized them in those outfits!

  • is she diana damrau?

    looks great!!!!!

  • Wow that looks like a great production!

  • Ad is pretty LONG

  • There is a CD of this performance of Die Zauberflöte. Does anybody know if there exists a DVD or video of this Abbado-masterpiece?

  • I tihnk there might be but I'm not sure. Is Francisco Araiza, Lucia Popp, Wolfgang Brendel, Edita Gruderova, Kurt Moll, and Wolfgang Sawallisch in this? Because if they are, I know of a possibility to see the video/DVD

  • No, the version you mean is a live performance of the Bavarian State Opera in 1983. Released on DVD in 2006...

  • The performance (end 2005) is with Rene Pape, Erika Miklosa, Christoph Strehl, Dorothea Röschmann and others, according to some critiques it was one of the best performances ever.

  • Ok, sorry then. I don't think you can get this on DVD, or at least easily. It must have been a different performance of the Bavarian State Opera.

  • This footage is from 2004 and a different production from the Bavarian State Opera. Vitellia is right.

I own the Abbado CD...It is quite good, but -in my humble opinion- not the greatest production ever. Rene Pape is superb.

  • As far as I know, both productions (Abbado and Bolton) weren't released on DVD. Not sure if they recorded Bolton's at all...Haven't seen a CD, either...

  • The third boy appearing in this video is Robin Schlotz, another great soloists of the Toelzers who left the choir a bit more than a year ago since his voice changed.

  • Yes, you're right..I didn't recognize him at first, but that's clearly Robin
