I try to look at each game as a separate entity; each with their own pluses and minuses, a lot of people say chrono cross wasn't trigger, which is true, but if you look at it as its own game its also a really strong rpg. The same goes for the fallouts, fallout 3 may be more of a spiritual successor with its differences but it is still a very strong and well done game.

Lots of reviewers of movies do not have movie scenes, book reviews do not use book quotes, so this is okay. Plenty of video footage on YT, so don't see it as a problem at all. Nice review. Agree about the voices. Why does Bethesda insist on using half a dozen voice actors for 100's NPC's!

Did u finish the original fallout games? I played fallout 1 and 2 through several times they are my favorite games of all time (fallout 2 is my fav of all time) Fallout 3 sucks in comparison its an ok game if it didnt have the fallout name, but if u played fallout 2 u would know that the Humor is GONE! the whole style and charisma of fallout 2 is not there, there are almost no jokes, and the dialog choices are garbage compared to fallout 2! dont u know that? why do u review games u dont know?

I have played both fallout 1 and 2, and I do agree that the humor is gone but I still love this game, I wouldn't call it as much a sequel as an homage to the first two.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts several months later, along with the new Operation Anchorage expansion pack. We've been encountering bugs here and there (like getting stuck in elevators) and are wondering if other people are experiencing these.

I have yet to get the expansion pack, been a bit busy playing other video games Harvest moon ToT, fable 2 again, Zelda OOT for the 100th time, Pokemon diamond, WoW on occasion (my brother and sister play so I play with them) etc. But I'll get it soon (probably really soon since I'm watching someone play fallout 3 for the first time as I type this and its making me want to play....)

I think your review is pretty fair to the game. 8 sounds about right to me. I do wish there was more melee weapons in F3 as well.

One of the things I liked about F1-2 is the amount of options you had with weapons. You could spend 50 hours into that game and still discover a new weapon you hadn't seen before.

I played 200 hours of oblivion, over the course of a few months cause the game gets a bit boring and repetitive after a while, and I definitely see the similarities with F3.

Except F3 didn't have as much repetition as Oblivion had.

Oblivion gates, fed ex quests, same looking dungeons/forts/caves really tear away the fun from the game.

I'm hoping shivering Isles is better than the main quest. I'll find out in a few months when/if I get the urge to play the game again.

Sacred 2 looks interesting, I'm gonna check that game out and see if its worth it. If you could make a review for S2 that would be great.

also the fact u didnt use Vats much is just insane! the original fallouts didnt have any controlled combat, it was all turned based, to review this game u need a top end PC and monitor, vats looks awesome when it pauses right as an enemy is jumping at your face! u need to finish this game and play the originals through to the end (at least Fallout 2) make ur review a bit longer too. good try though. I just love fallout 1 and 2 thats all and I know them in and out.

Like I said in my other response, I have played them both to the end, everyone has their own way of playing games, I prefer either true turn based, or I want to just bash the hell out of something and get it over with. Also I keep them short and sweet since I figure people don't want to hear me drone on and on about my opinions. Since in the end everyone will play their own way and form their own opinions!

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are my favorite games. But, I like Oblivion a bit better because of its light atmosphere. Fallout's atmosphere is also great, but gets a bit depressing sometimes.

If you love to do melee-style you should play (If you haven't done it yet) the Condemned series. Of course they're not RPGs, they're more like survival horror games, but trust me if I say that I've never seen a sledgehammer hitting someone's face the way it does in Condemned. It's incredibly satisfying.

I love Fallout 3, but in all honesty I felt like Bethesda slept through writing the storyline. Let's see, sacrifice at the end. Oblivion anyone? But that's okay. They did very well with the visual effects and thanks to the GECK we can create our own stories and expansions as we see fit. Thanks Bethesda. You did it for Oblivion, and let us make that game truly our own. Now we can do the same with Fallout 3. This is how a game should be produced.

I know animals and such respawn not sure about humans. I'm pretty sure there is a mod out though to increase the number of enemies... or that may have only come out for oblivion but as a lot of people are porting over the oblivion mods to fallout 3 I'm sure we shall see it soon.
