  • ban hockey fights. i will do everything in my power to get fighting in hockey banned.

  • Nothing fight, DRAW.

  • Wonder why nobody came to mahalaks defense oh yeah because he s a piece of shit

  • R.j. is my friend and he didn't hit back because he got knocked out. i no im only 11 but he and my sister and real good friends......hes not like that.....he WOULD FIGHT BACK

  • that kid hit rj from behind thats stupid if someone hits u u hit him back don't be stupid and hit from behind cause thats being a wussy so Nolan if u read this your a wussy u sould of took it like a man and squared up before u fight. If that was a regular fight RJ WOULD OF MURDERED YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! NOLAN YOUR A PUNK!!!!!

  • The 20 game suspension lol, shit player on a shit team.

  • dude RJ is my idol.....dont make fun of him....he'll pin u down and kill u in under 20 secs...its happened

  • waita go jordy!

  • by the way Jordy is a wussy for hitting him from behind if the fight would have been clean RJ WOULD OF KILLED HIM!!!!!

  • The new rules in the OHL were supposed to bring awareness to head shot issues, and encourage the elimination of events such as the one by Nolan. HELLO! Wakeup! Mahalak was already falling to the ice and Nolan violently struck him with his fist into the ice. Just stupid.

Many people will comment on the result and the injury, but the fact is that if nolan hadnt pounded his head into the ice, there would be no injury. the suspension is just.

  • didn't even look like a fight to me

  • He never jumped him. Mahalak ran over Nolan earlier in the game for no reason. Nolan called him out and pounded him hard. Nolan stood up and showed you dont mess with soo boys, The 20 game suspension was uncalled for.

  • i dont understand it one bit if mahalak gets up skates off on his own no games "not one"as far as im concerned this league is turning into a gongshow once not long ago this league was the best out of the 3 canadian leagues now its a league where your going to see more french canadians coming over from the Q and playing here where there is no need for them .soon david branch is going to run this leaue into the ground the heart and sould guys arent going to want to play here

  • Gongshow, perfect word to describe the OHL under David Branch!

  • This is 20 games, yet Stefan Della Rovere and Zac Rinaldo are still allowed to play in this league.

David Branch needs to give his fucking head a shake.

  • yo, leafsfan, shut the fuck up.

  • Uhhh, how about no?

  • David Branch is a tool, there is no consistency to his discipline. 20 games for this while other more blatant acts get a slap on the wrist. No wonder this crap keeps happening. He does favour the stars when it comes to letting them get away with cheap shots. Steve Stamkos is a good example of this. He almost beheaded a Spitfire last year in the playoffs and got nothing from Branch. Rinaldo should be out of the league permanently, he is a pure goon.

  • Yeah Rinaldo is a prick...agree 100% with everything you said there.

  • Rinaldo from London got yet another match penalty this weekend and is suspended indefinitely. Knowing Dave Branch, Rinaldo will be back for the second round with yet another slap on the wrist. Why do they let this goon keep coming back? Deos he have to kill someone on the ice for Branch to wake up.

  • Ugh, what did the guy do now?!

  • In typical Rinaldo fashion, he hit O'Reilly from behind in Game 1 of the Erie/London series.

  • Jesus christ...

Rinaldo and Della Rovere are ridiculous.

Della did the same thing throughout the U-20, only A) he usually got away with it B) He would always taunt the other team afterwards.

But Rinaldo just has no respect or consideration for others.

  • Della Rovere doesnt do things from the world juniors in the OHL

(hitting shattenkirk from behind is the only one that stands out as dirty in IIHF and the OHL)

He was playing an OHL style game in International play, and like i said hitting Shattenkirk was a bad decision but everything else he did was acceptable in North American hockey.

  • Fair enough, I haven't seen that much of Della Rovere in the OHL.

But in 6 games, he threw three hits from behind, tried to take Wolf's eye out off a faceoff, threw two suckerpunches (Lasu and Van Riemsdyk), snow-showered Grubauer, ran Markstrom, and was more focused on taunting the other bench than anything.

And this is acceptable in North American Hockey? I don't think so...

  • do you have examples of these? cause alot of the "hits from behind" are boarderline and not stand out cheap shots.

im not saying he didnt do them or that he was mr. sportsmanship during the world juniors, but i would like to see.

  • Ehm. Well the hit on Shattenkirk. Another on a Czech defenceman, although I cannot find it. And if you look up "Della Rovere With a Big Hit" you should see his questionable hit on Bielkke, and at the end of the video you can see him try to take Wolf's eye out with his stick (although TSN completely ignores this).

  • the hit on Bielke is a clean hit, he hit him from the side, it just looks worse because bielke was dumping it in right when he was hit.

and i didnt see the part with the stick at all lol.

Anyway, I don't think you get voted as best hitter in the OHL (over 75% of the ohl eastern conference votes) by throwing dirty hits, i guess its all just a matter of opinion.

  • He saw the numbers and deliberately hit him while he was facing the boards.

Watch at like 0:40 of that video for Wolf to fall - it was because Della Rovere 2-handed him off the draw.

  • he hit him from the side, it could not be more clear.

i still have yet to see this phantom 2-hander you speak of.

  • Bielkke was facing the b oards the whole time.

You can't see the two-hander really, just look for Wolf to fall to the ice near the end of the video.

  • lol he definately was facing forward the ENTIRE time, you dont face the boards when you dump the puck in.

and just because wolf fell doesnt mean that he got two-handed.

  • Regardless, the hit was a blatant attempt to injure.

I may have exaggerated somewhat by saying 'two handed', but he deliberately popped him in the face with his stick, even if that video can't prove

  • lmfao buddy your jsut pulling excuses out of your ass now.

the hit was perfectly fine and the two-hander cant be proven so you cant say it happened, ahaha

  • He was trying to hurt the guy.

And I don't really have proof of the 2-hander, but it was quite obvious when it happened, everyone in the building just kinda cringed like "did he get away with that?"

  • lol he was playing physical which he was brought there to do, if hitting a player in the chest/shoulder area is trying to hurt them then hockey would be non-contact.

and you cant say a two-hander happened with no evidence lol, people fall on faceoffs all the time

  • I can say a two-hander happened because I saw it happen.

I may not be able to prove this to you, but I can assure you it happened. And when it did, it took all of the energy from his hit out of the building

  • lol okay firstly i was there, (and from the way your saying it you were aswell)

now i prefer energy players over scorers who cant defend themselves so i was watching della rovere more then the other players and there was NO two-hander

  • Yes, I was 7 rows behind the Canada bench, and it was very obvious that he deliberately struck him in the face.

As I said, the reaction was like "did he actually get away with that?"

  • lol was in row 10 on the opposite side and im gonna have to disagree, but i guess its opinion.

  • just another clip for TSN and other mainstream sports medias to play and use as an example to abolish fighting from hockey. How is this 20 games!? Rediculous as far as im concerned.

  • 20 games? What is the rule on that?

  • I dont understand what the problem with the suspension is. He jumped, and absolutely destroyed him. Kid didnt expect it.

  • Yeah, Im surprised too....Im sure he didnt mean hit his head on the ice.

  • WOW WHAT A JOKE!!!! 20 games???? WOW.... Dave Branch should be the commishiner of stars on ice... the ohl is starting to turn into a joke... sad really!!

  • FOR THE RECORD, He is fine

  • Its not like nolan cant fight, its a bitch move to jump someone like that

  • nolan is a bitch, too much of a pussy to square off, he deserves the suspension for being a puss

  • Yea for what?? lol

  • 20 games wow what a bs call by the ohl

  • Absolutely terrible knee jerk reaction.

  • Ya, the problem is that Nolan didnt want to fight, and wasn't really fighting. He still had his gloves on for christ sakes. If you instigate a fight, knock the other guy's helmet off, and pound his head on the ice, I have no problem with 20 games. Especially since the kid got hurt.

  • you have got to be fucking shitting me. he got 20 games for that! what a fucking joke. dont fight if youre a pussy and you know youre going to get your ass kicked.

  • That didn;t deserve a 20 game suspension.

  • Looks like Nolan has played His last game this season.

  • no, he is actually fine, believe it or not.
