Isn't this from the film "From Nashville With Music"? I think it featured mostly Bakersfield musicians, if I recall correctly--which was just fine by me.
@2refinish Yes... the movie did include Bakersfield boys Buck Owens and Don Rich, Wynn Stewart, and Merle Haggard. But there were plenty of Nashville musicians too... namely Carl Smith, Uncle Jody, Marty Robbins, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Charley Pride, and Don Gibson.
@2refinish It does have more of a plot than many of the other Country Music "musicals". It's actually pretty well-done. Unfortunately, the DVD is almost impossible to find.
There used to be so many great early Merle Haggard / Strangers videos on Youtube back 5-6yrs ago, but they just went away for some reason. I realize record companies want to make money/royalties, but let us fans enjoy this music please!!!
@drunkondiesel Don't be sad ... I have quite a few Merle clips posted on my channel. In the search box type: "Merle Haggard Gatorrock787" (without the quote marks)
Somebody posted this version several mnths back and it had been recorded from tv by a camera (80's style) it definatley added something to it wierd as that sounds. I think they keep taking it down because of the movie rights. Anyways Thanks for this GREAT post. I can't say that he ever sounded better than he did here and gotta give props to Ms. Bonnie Owens who galvenized the Classic Strangers sound that ultimatley made him a superstar.
110923 checking in, because Merele made it, many others have.

@Gatorrock787 Thanks, Gator. I've heard it has no plot, but it sounds like fun anyway.
