Wow this is amazing. I'm thinking of buying the XH-A1s. I never expected it to be this great at night. Did you use manual or auto settings? If you used manual, what were they set to?
What worked best was using a manual focus set to infinity and either turning it to "spotlight" mode and letting the camera take care of itself or opening the Iris up to about 3.4, setting the shutter to 50/1 and running the camera on full manual. Just make sure AGC isnt on (actually its best NEVER to turn AGC on). Might be worth looking at the new JVC solid state cameras though instead of the XH-A1 as they record straight to .mov files and can shoot true 50p.
The tune is from the soundtrack to the film "Making Waves," a brit rom com shot in Blackheath- I work for the company that made it. The composer is David Burns and he very kindly lets me use his music for this kind of thing.

SSD is great. No complaints there. I like to film on tape better though. I'm thinking of getting the XH-A1s (not the older version, XH-A1).
Thank you for the tip for the settings. It will come in handy :-)

Another thing is that the JVC is made for MAC (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) and I'm never going to use a MAC for any of my projects.

No worries :) glad I could help. Agree that its prob best to steer clear of the JVC with your workflow. Might be worth looking at the EX1 though.

best footage I've seen online, my first time there. Will ensure I take the camera next year!! Would be interested to know what the backing music is.
