This is the most original use of the Kramer tutorial I've seen in a LONG time! Kudos to you for not just doing what original tutorial tells you to do. And it was done really well to boot! Great Job. Really.
k i mean like when u wwere making that movie did you had to cut the clip like in frames like on lil parts,...i hope u know wut i mean like frames that lasted 1 second each
Gotcha.. I used Adobe After Effects to do the effects, and yes that program allows you to make changes frame by frame. You can do some basic video editing in Photoshop, but only in CS3. Photoshop isn't a great tool for video to date. I recommend After Effects.
After Effects definitely has a learning curve, but you can find all the training you need online. Check out creativecow(dot)net and videocopilot(dot)net for some awesome tutorials. This original green screen footage was from a chroma tutorial on a product from Video Copilot.
Blue is actually the furthest color from skin tone and was originally the chroma color of choice. Any color can be used as a chroma screen. Say for instance you need your actors to wear green in the scene, you obviously wouldn't want to use a green screen. I've seen situations on DVD special features where they use bright pink for their chroma. Just use the color that best suits your needs. Just make sure to evenly light the backdrop.
Yes, except it's not exactly cropping them out. Keying is taking the color used for the background and making an animated matte out of it. Using programs like After Effects, that have very powerful keying tools like keylight, this can be as simple as making an eyedropper selection.
these are stock explosions. I guess you could make fire out of some obscure effect cocktail in AE, but the better option is particles. Particle Illusion is a great product and works really well with After Effects.
sweeet!

Looks to me to be the droid starfighter from star wars. Probably (not necessarily) downloaded off a resource site.

wow cool, is adobe after effects very difficult to use? Did you use green screens (or whatever they're called)to make this?

oh so you mean we need colors that away from human skin for example to easily crop the human out and put it in the explosion scene? ~ cool thanks
