7.62x39 is not a very powerful hunting rifle, a Browning Automatic Rifle in .30-06 would be much more deadly. But since it's not "evil", it's okay to have.

Why does the echo sound 100 times louder than the rifle discharge?

I think it's because the initial sound blast leaving the rifle is traveling away from the camera and the echo is bouncing back towards it so it's picked up better....just a guess though.
