I wouldn't say a lightning event is "exactly the same thing" as evolution. Evolution is much more complex, thus a belief in a guiding "force" rather than completely random unguided evolution into man is kinda rational..
After receiving two abusive messages here on Youtube, I thought I'd take some time today to spread around my joy at how 1GodOnly1 has revealed his true nature. Just for making simple, civil comments offering a counter view, he blocked me (under two different user names) AND called me a "shit bag troll". So, for anyone who enjoys seeing true colors expressed, there ya go. For those who 'like' him, well, what do you think now?
Proving my point that he isn't very good when it comes to debating. I respect the man's intelligence, and the fact that he makes great videos, but I've seen him debate, and he wasn't any good at it.
I'll agree with the fact that he needs more practice, but I still say that he wasn't a good candidate to start with in this video.
@Numinous123 I agree. He is very intelligent but he takes his time with his answers. The opposition sees this as weakness. He should stick to his videos. Plus I can't hear crap on that video anyway, the audio was terrible.
@Numinous123 I wouldn't call him "terrible",but his problem is that he lets Christians walk all over him and interupt him(like the debate with WBC),but yes,Matt is an excellent debater.
@Numinous123 Not to mention there is so much good material you could have thrown in there from Matt and Russel's debate with Ray Comfort. Like the brutality clip, that was a nice touch, lol.
If you're talking about the blue whale, water based mammals are able to grow larger due to their bodies being supported by water, and the fact that they usually have to contain body heat, thus the large size and blubber.
There's a lot of Plankton in the ocean, and it was an ecological niche that the blue whales evolution adapted to. The whales also eat small fish.
The funny thing about biological evolution and religion is that religion is one of the best comparisons to biological evolution. Groups branch off the main religion and change; the main religion changes as well. Protestants came from Catholics in the same way humans came from monkeys (ape-like creatures, to clarify).
Forty years, using a manufactured planted Piltdown Man HOAX (1913-53) as the "missing link" to satisfy "irrefutable evidence" is not sloppy science, it's Criminal Fraud, constituting a Crime Against Humanity. Proof of scientific demonic water boarding as a technique to install an Evil Illusion into the minds of humanity, are the diabolical frauds steadily dripped to sustain the illusion of having a "missing link", enabling Godforsaken Nazis to teach an Evil Illusion, as Scientific Fact.
@piusvapor If in the case that one finding conflicts with another, an inquiries must be made to see what went wrong. Were tests performed properly? Were the instruments or testers malfunctioning? Point is, when dealing with science, we can check against reality. Whether it be the object up close or mathematically etc which is unlike religion. If something is shown to be untrue, then it's dropped and preferably understood why is it wrong. If not, the scientific method would not work.
@mistereveready So if something is to be false then it must be categorically and scientifically proven to be so. I maintain that no scientific methods, nor experiments nor mathematics have yet to disprove the existence of God. Where many billions past and present in the world have experienced God in some matter and thus have credibility, until proven scientifically wrong.
@piusvapor If data conflicts then inquiry must be made to as why. If something is established fact (supported by evidence) and later data is found to unroot it, that is a different case. An unfounded assertion like gods doesn't need to be disproved. It first needs to be proved, is else disgarded. If we are using the fallacy of if x people believe it it must be reasonably true. We can also use hindus, fairies, gnomes. If you go off of the abrahamic god, it has many conflicting attributes.
@piusvapor conflicting data means something is wrong, at best reserve. Problem with gods, is that there is nothing we can actually compare data to. gods are concepts that people pulled out of their ass whenever ignorance looms. With the lack of any effects to measure, or even a coherent definition of what is a god makes disregarding god hypothesis rather easy. Even within religious sects the beliefs vary greatly and do so due to lack of anything real to compare them to.
@piusvapor Yeah... People of all religions "feel" God.. Isn't it possible your just fooling yourself into thinking it's god your feeling when it's actually just a regular feeling?
Anyway you said "I maintain that no scientific methods, nor experiments nor mathematics have yet to disprove the existence of God" You don't see how stupid that is?
I say I have an invisible dragon.. There is no evidence that it's real... But you can't prove it isn't...
@bushiyo2 There is evidence in the existence of God outside of science's test tube and calculations; in which billions upon billions can attest to. I doubt that your dragon could stand up to that kind of scrutiny. I know this is the "flying spaghetti monster" argument but it really is a poor analogy. A better an analogy would be the God of the bible (and love) vs the used God of world dominance (used by others for manipulation), the later I believe doesn't exist but would be hard to disprove.
@blagarty The second law of thermodynamics proves that organization cannot flow from chaos. Complex live organisms cannot rearrange themselves into an organism of a higher form as claimed by evolutionists. This is scientifically backwards. Efoolutionists cannot have it both ways.
@filoIII Pure BS. Creationists change the definition and the scientific qualification of this law to their own end, so it only violates it with the changed scenario. In rigorous science it doesn't, only when it's being spouted by some apologist who can't take the truth. Creationists; they love the science of medicine when it saves their sick babies but hate it when it shows their fairy tale is a myth.
@noiseache I love science. Let's see what college science classes I've taken--Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy 1 & 2, Chemistry, Physical Science, & Clinical Laboratory Science. 1Tim 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called. I'll just refer you back to the definition of what science is-observable, testable, repeatable.
@filoIII Using the bible as evidence or corroboration of itself is a fallacy. If you're as clever as you suggest you'd know that using bible verses is futile in proper rational discourse.
Why not bring up some proverbs from the 3 Little Pigs story? They're equally valid.
@noiseache You're mocking the most scrutinized Book in history. It has stood up to every challenge. The Bible's not a science book, but it contains scientific facts that weren't discovered until hundreds/thousands of yrs later. It's not a book about archaeology, but archaeology has proven it correct everytime. It's not a history book, but it contains historical facts. As it's been said, history is all about HIStory. Do w/ the info what you wish. Those who can't argue facts turn to ridicule.
@filoIII And if you were born 6000 miles to the east you'd be giving me the same speech with 'Qur'an' inserted instead of Bible. Good that the one true religion happened to be in your country of birth oh and the most popular! The rest of your post is demonstrably BS. We are slowly coming to realise that most of the stuff in there is metaphorical or allegorical and has no basis in the truth outside of established historical characters and cities corroborated by books outside the bible.
@noiseache You don't know that. There are millions in the middle east that are Christians, many are converting everyday. You know what happens when you assume.
@filoIII I do know that since I've spent over 30 years studying the subject. It's also common knowledge to those who have checked out what the bible says. The latest pillar to fall is the exodus since there is not a single shred of evidence of people spending 40 years travelling in the desert between Egypt and Israel. Out of 240m people in the ME (not gulf states) only 15 m are Christians and this percentage has been declining for 1000 years since the muslims have more children.
@noiseache " Out of 240m people in the ME (not gulf states) only 15 m are Christians and this percentage has been declining for 1000 years since the muslims have more children."--Can't argue w/ that logic. Islam MUST be true. You win.
@101Pilgrim You're preaching to the deconverted. I was pointing out a flaw in the previous argument, not saying that majority means truth, however most of the Christians I debate believe that to be true.
Actually, what that statement you've just proven that you don't know what evolution is.
Evolution is simply small changes to a gene pool over time. It can be to a more, or a less complex organize.
Sometimes what a creature can evolve into is not a 'superior' organize. An example would be the fact that man, and most apes cannot synthesize vitamin C due to a genetic defect passed down though the generations of ancestors. Think of that the next time you ear the word 'Scurvy'.
@Numinous123 So what is the point of efoolution if not to become superior? That IS the point of it. We don't make vitamin K either, so I'm not sure what you're getting at w/ the scurvy comment.
@filoIII Science doesn't prove anything, you comment fails at the first hurdle and exposes your misunderstanding of both the subject and test criteria.
@noiseache For something to be considered "SCIENCE," if must observed, testable, and repeatable. Macro-efoolution is NONE of those, hence, it's not science. Did I demonstrate an understanding of the subject and test criteria to your satisfaction?
@filoIII No, and your assertion is demonstrably false. talkorigins(.)org/faqs/comdesc
Science doesn't prove anything. If forms hypotheses, creates models and they are then tested for falsification. If you want proof, you need to look to mathematics.
It is repeatable. Have you ever looked at dog breeds? That's guided evolution.
There are studies of moths, insects, and even mammals changing over relatively few generations (it still takes time) to adapt to new environments. In the lab, we've definitely seen examples of bacterial evolution.
That's several examples I've given you. I don't blame you're ignorance. You're looking at science the same way you look at religion, thus you think it's all just claims... like your faith.
@Numinous123 Still dogs. Still moths. Still mammals. Still insects. Still bacteria. You may be able to pull the wool over the eyes of some poor sap but not me. Everything reproduces after its own kind, and you can't prove any different try as you may. No transitional forms to be found. Darwin even said throw out his THEORY if none were found w/in 100 yrs. Well, none have been found. Time to dump efoolution already. Unfortunately for you the only other option holds you accountable.
Dinosaurs belong to a taxonomic group called Archosauria. Crocodiles, pterasaurs, and by extension birds are archosaurs as well. Birds are still archosaurs. Humans are still apes. Dogs are still canines. Cats are still felines. All animals fall into taxinomic clades, not kinds. A kind is not a scientific term and gven how the classification of species are done it requires a nested heirchy. Eukaryote>Vertibrate>Tetrapod>Mammilidae>Primate>Homo Sapiens
@filoIII If you're really interested in learning why we biologists believe the things we do, I can show you several examples of transitional forms, but you'll need to go to a research library to find the papers. Interested?
@acr08807 "I fully agree with your comments on the lack of direct illustration of evolutionary transitions in my book. If I knew of any, fossil or living, I would certainly have included them."-Dr Colin Patterson, Sr. Paleontologist @ the British Museum of Natural History, when asked why he failed to mention transitional forms in his book. I am DEFINATELY interested how some schlub on youtube claiming to be a biologist says there are transitional forms and this efoolutionist says there's not.
@filoIIl I'm glad to see that you accept Patterson's authority on this subject. His Evolution was the first book I ever read on evolutionary theory when I was an undergraduate in biology. Here's what he said there about transitional forms: "In several animal and plant groups, enough fossils are known to bridge the wide gaps between existing types."
@filoIII "In mammals, for example, the gap between horses, asses and zebras (genus Equus) and their closest living relatives, the rhinoceroses and tapirs, is filled by an extensive series of fossils extending back sixty-million years to a small animal, Hyracotherium, which can only be distinguished from the rhinoceros-tapir group by one or two horse-like details of the skull.
@filoIII "There are many other examples of fossil 'missing links', such as Archaeopteryx, the Jurassic bird which links birds with dinosaurs (Fig. 45), and Ichthyostega, the late Devonian amphibian which links land vertebrates and the extinct choanate (having internal nostrils) fishes. . . . Fossils may tell us many things, but one thing they can never disclose is whether they were ancestors of anything else."
@filoIII That's what Patterson discussed in his letter to Sunderland. He said that you can and do see forms that bridge gaps between species, but you can never be sure that any individual fossil was in fact from a species that was an ancestor of another species. I highly recommend that you read Patterson's book if you want a good picture of how evolution by natural selection works and, at least in outline, the evidence that leads us biologists to accept it.
@acr08807 After all that mumbo-jumbo, the fact remains that he still said there's no transitional forms. You efoolutionists strain soooooo hard to suck a camel thru a straw.
@filoIII He did NOT say that there are no transitional forms. He said you can't point to a specific fossil and say this is the ancestor of some other specific species. Again, read his book and you'll understand. You'll find that scientific debate and scientific progress are fueled by much more sophisticated arguments than childish analogies to camels and straws.
@filoIII Sorry, I thought you were really interested in understanding evolutionary theory before criticizing it, but you just like to find quotes on Internet sites. So sad.
@filoIII You're a childish ass. And that's not an ad-hominem either, rather a plain ol' observation. You're just quote mining. Typical childish, assenine behavior. What you really should be doing is enlightening yourself. Try learning something about what you claim to be against. At least know the "enemy". It's foolish to do anything else. But you must be afraid of losing your faith or you're just to lazy to learn. Which is it?
@gvman3670 I've taken numerous college science classes and heard the baloney throughout. The professors I'd have discussions w/ during class would admit on numerous point they do have serious problems. You're not enlightening me about nothing, tough guy. I've been down the college indoctrination road already.
That's 'Evolution'. Don't attempt to talk about things if you cannot even spell the name of the subject you're speaking of.
The sciences (Evolution included) all change with new information. That's what science is supposed to do. If it doesn't change with new data, then it's not science.... it's religion.
Nah, theistic evolution is the same thing as the analogy. The same thing for the zeus analogy would be "Sure, static electricity and evaporation can account for SOME of the lightning, but other lightning events are too extreme to simply be created by physical chance. Zeus must behind THOSE events."
If Ray says that evaporation and crystallization is the process God used to make snow... whats the hangup with saying that evolution is the process that God used to make people?
Still bullshit, but not quite as laughably ridiculous.
@1776iscoming Unitarianism. They are conservative Christian, but do not believe Jesus was divine. So, your statement is completely false, as one only needs one example to prove an "all" statement false.
Atheists ridicule Christians because Christians say ridiculous (definition: arousing or deserving ridicule : extremely silly or unreasonable) things. It works for all theists, though, not just Christians. Same applies for conspiracy theories, big foot, unicorn, alien visitations on Earth, etc...
Nope, biblical, fundamental Christianity has never changed. There are differences in opinion on minor, non-essentials. All conservative denominations share the same beliefs that Jesus Christ, alone is the only way to Heaven, the virgin birth, the trinity, the divinity of Christ, etc. "Atheists" ridicule Christians to soothe their own minds and to try to not face the fact that they will be judged.
@1776iscoming Judged by who? Your imaginary friend? Let's see some evidence for your claims, please. Even better, lets see some evidence for your imaginary friend's existence. How about some evidence about the existence of heaven? Heck, let's go fancy and get some evidence for miracles like those in your fairytale book, you know, splitting the sea in half, talking burning bushes, zombies, cool magical stuff. I wonder why those stopped happening when we developed reliable recording methods...hmm.
@1776iscoming Christians get ridiculed not because atheists somehow fail to grasp the magical reality gullibility (aka faith) seems to open to weak-minded believers, but because they base their lifes upon mediocre explainations about the universe crafted by primitive middle eastern savages with no understanding about anything at all. Every fucking religion has a made up bullshit story of their own, what tells you yours is more real? Not all can be right, but all can be wrong.
Beside my personal experiences and relationship with God, the ridiculous accuracy of biblical prophecy was the biggest thing that convinced me that the bible was the true word of God. Watching world events unfold before our eyes that were prophecied thousands of years ago is amazing!
@1776iscoming Of course. Self fulfilling prophecy is extremely amazing, indeed.
Just that....it's not, specially when it's being forced by a bunch of crazy shithead fanatics who can't wait to see the grand finale of it all: "the rapture!".
I'd be thrilled about it too if it got the world rid of religious nuts, but that plague is worse than fucking mosquitoes.
Actually the rapture will occur before the worst, most devastating and horrible time in the history of this earth, the tribulation. Before that Russia/ Iran and a group of allies will attack Israel and be decimated by the Lord Himself, a one world government/currency will be instituted, among other things. You think the world events today are any surprise to anybody that studies biblical prophecy? Not at all, things are lining up just as the bible tells us, it's...
@1776iscoming The world events today could happen as well under a normal cycle of the planet. Add man-made stuff like global warming into the equation and you'll surely have a recipe for disaster that any shitty holy book can envy. Just because some ancient cryptic texts contain stuff that can be reinterpreted at will by faithmongers, doesn't mean these primitive middle eastern savages had any revealed truths. Heck, they could as well say "tomorrow will rain", and hold the same relevance.
@1776iscoming It all gets even crazier when you have a bunch of religious lemmings making these things happen. Why do you think so many wars happen over this? These idiots can't wait for their myths to come true, so they do whatever they can to make these things happen. It's sad they don't even realize how self-fulfilling this has become. I wouldn't have any problem if they did it in their corner of the world, but unfortunately they drag us all into their stupid myths, so it's a public concern.
@1776iscoming In the same way these "bible scholars" have twisted the cryptic contents of the bible to suit their own greedy agendas, you can twist any book to say whatever the fuck you want it to say. If you buy into this shit only because you are scared of your imaginary friend's wrath, I'm afraid you're beyond any hope of mental restoration, so enjoy your gullibility.
No, I'm not afraid of God's wrath, I've put my faith in Jesus to cover my sins, I'm justified before God. I'm no longer appointed to God's wrath, I'm no longer His enemy.
@1776iscoming Funny. Sin doesn't even exist. It's a biased perspective made up by self righteous middle eastern sheepherders to satanize that which they didn't agree with. This sin bullshit was crafted to control people. What the heck makes you think finite crimes deserve eternal punishment? And that's even considering blasphemy and apostasy are even crimes. In reality, these are victimless crimes, because the victim hasn't even been proven to exist (your imaginary god. What a waste for a life.
@1776iscoming Keeping that in mind, your faith is rendered useless. It's a needless artifact crafted by faithmongers to keep others in line. Even worse, it makes a virtue out of gullibility, while deliberately undermining our intellect, and making a defect out of skepticism and inquiry. Their so called "morals" are nothing more than a checklists of things they don't like, therefore want to punish. When asked for reasonable justification for this, they cower behind "it's god's will". So sad..
If you repeat it enough times, some day, you may convince yourself enough that you make actually believe it. There are no morals without God. In a world that came into existence as you believe, the most honorable and smartest person would be a thieving sociopath that doesn't get caught, after all, we're all walking worm dirt right?
@1776iscoming You mean the same jackass whose most consistent action throughout the bible concerning humans was to either kill them or order them to kill their fellow men? The same guy who deviced a practical slavery for dummies guide? The same jealous jackass who empowered self righteous savages to raid, pillage and slaughter entire communities just for not believing in him? The same asshole who condones and encourages misogyny, mass murder and other "morally correct" actions?
@1776iscoming If you were right, which you are not, i'd be out there killing people, raping every fucking girl that crossed my path and stealing whatever i wanted. However, that's not the case at all. Its funny, you keep claiming bullshit like we were stupid mindless animals, yet you fail to realize that i am proof that you are completely, utterly, ignorantly, dead WRONG. And don't even dare claiming your imaginary friend secretly controls me to not fuck up.
@1776iscoming If you actually need an imaginary policeman to keep you from doing stupid shit that most of us simply know are wrong by common sense, you wouldn't only be a fucking hypocrite, but a stupid one as well. Morals don't come from gods or other imaginations, they come from being social beings, accountable to almost 7billion people on this earth. You claim believers have higher moral highground, but go check for some criminal statistics in jails. Atheist population there is minimal.
Again, morality is totally subjective without an ultimate judge and moral standard. Just because it's against the law, you cannot define an act as good or bad. What would be an evil act in your eyes can be the opposite to somebody else, and you can't say a word. I don't for a second believe unbelievers do not do moral acts, God gave everybody a conscience, his standard is written on everybody's heart.
@1776iscoming And what makes you think it shouldn't be subjective? Let me explain you what your problem is: you've wilfully jumped into an ideology that preaches humans are faulty, filthy rats that need to somehow be saved form an unexisting transgression. Religion is not necessary, but it's made itself needed using fallacious arguments and fantasy tales to make people feel more important than they actually are in a huge universe. An exit to an unforgiving reality, if you will.
You honestly look at human beings and overall see goodness? Maybe it's because I've traveled all over the world and have seen starvation, have seen the aftermath of a suicide bombing, have seen war. People are evil at their root. If everybody let every temptation come to total fruition, we would be no better than wild animals. We are sinful, that's the difference between you and I, I recognize evil.
@1776iscoming I see goodness, i see evil, i see jackasses, i see wonderful people. What's your point? Your experiences around the world are irrelevant. They don't prove your god is good or even real. I know for fact that i'm not evil, and i certainly don't need an imaginary friend to be a decent person. At best you can claim you've witnessed some evil. You may have been convinced about being a worthless, sinful piece of crap human, but i haven't, no matter how cohersive religions are.
@1776iscoming In reality, morality is built up by society. As social being we need to establish rules to cooperate with eachother in a relatively good way. Common sense lets us know transgressing others' rights is wrong, and this is how a moral code can be established. Morality can never be absolute, and even if it was, your perverted god figure wouldn't even be close to become a morality judge. I am completely sure i am more morally correct than this asshole, thanks to your bible.
(cont'd) going to get much worse my friend. Just thought I'd tell you these things so you'll remember them and God will be glorified when you find out, we're not the ones that are crazy. God bless.
@1776iscoming - Name one such prophecy. Don't generalize, be specific about which prophecies were "ridiculously accurate." And then demonstrate that such "prophecies" were actually made prior to the events they supposedly predicted, not after. And then demonstrate that the reason the prophecies came true was because of God, and not some other more plausible reason.
I truly do not say this to insult but merely speak the truth: Anyone who doesn't believe evolution to be true despite the mass of irrefutable evidence is an idiot and anyone who believes in god despite the overwhelming lack of evidence is delusional.
I truly do not say this to insult but merely speak the truth: anyone that believes evolution isn't real is an idiot and anyone who believes in god is delusional.
eternity with Him. We all deserve God's wrath, we are all sinners, but God, in his loving mercy, sent His son, Jesus Christ to take the wrath for yours and my sins. There is no difference between you and I, only that I have humbled myself, repented and put my faith in Christ. Heaven and hell are a choice, and they are very, very real. God bless
@1776iscoming "There is no difference between you and I, only that I have humbled myself, repented and put my faith in Christ" Tell me, what does that mean, you've humbled yourself, you've put your faith in christ, how does that make you a person worthy of heaven as opposed to me? If we are both good, kind-hearted people, do I really deserve god's wrath merely because I'm using my brain and reason and do not see any evidence for your god?
@1776iscoming Why would god give me something (reason, free-will) and then punish me or refuse to reward me for using what he gave me? For not being gullible and believe in bronze-age stories written down by desert-dwelling people who had some barbaric ideas about morality? You claim that heaven and hell are real and the only evidence you can provide for this is an old book of myths...and you think you've found some greater truth.
@1776iscoming I'm not choosing what I believe. I believe what makes sense to my mind. I've looked into the claims of various religions and find neither superior morality nor sufficient evidence for a god or gods. I would have to actively force myself to believe in a god, in essence I would be cheating myself and god because reason and rational thought (my personal thoughts) tell me that I don't believe. That is not a choice. I'm just being true to myself.
@1776iscoming If your god exists, and everybody "knows" of him, then why are there multiple religions in the world as opposed to one? How do you know your religion is the correct religion? All men are born atheist, and have to be "educated (i use this lightly)" of his existence. Some of use choose to believe, some of us question and seek the truth. I'll seek the truth, and find it. I suggest you question the world around you and look for yourself, you may find you were wrong all along.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Lol, Christianity has not changed and will not change. I feel so bad for this guy and woman, this is the best the modern day "atheist" can do is throw generalizations and insults out. At least Darwin came up with a ridiculous fairy tale. To know that these people will remember in eternity, that they knew the truth but chose to ignore it, not because of evidence, but because God's moral standard offended them, it's horrible.
@1776iscoming yes evolution is the fairy tale, the fairy supported by facts and evidence time and time again; while the truth is in a book written by goat herders. A book, mind you, that has no actual evidence that its correct, that it's god exists, and is riddled with fallacies. Until any evidence of a god existing is found then all theism is the fairy tale, and even then they would have to prove that it is in fact their specific religions deity for that specific religion to be true.
I'm sorry man, your "unbelief" will be no excuse when you are standing before God. All men are aware of God's existence, He's put this revelation on every man's heart. Yes, there are some people, like the guy's in the video, who have suppressed this truth so much, out of hatred for God, that they have convinced themselves that God doesn't exist. Speaking from somebody who has been where you are, please don't take ignore God any longer, He loves you, but will not force you to spend...
@1776iscoming pathetic dude. heard that one a million times ''your an atheist cause you wanna sin all the time'' try and do better i know it'll be hard. as far as the bible's moral standard offending me yes it does.
When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property. (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)
The bible has been translated into modern english and different languages from the original greek and hebrew texts multiple times. There are many solid translations out there, there are also mistranslations.
No, there were not gospels removed, I'm sure you're talking about thomas and judas which have been proven to be totally fraudulent. Nobody, outside of those trying to discredit Christianity, even mention them anymore.
@1776iscoming Gospel of Barnabas and the Shepherd of Hermas Many ppl lived there lives beleiveing in these gospels and then they were removed. Just like the Anglican no longer believe in hell and the Catholics got rid of the notion of limbo. Its a joke
They were never removed, they have been reviewed and dismissed because there are not credible accounts. This isn't new, this has been resolved for years. I have never read "the sheperd of Hermas", I will, but I have read the others, so I'm not just saying this with no knowledge of them.
@1776iscoming The Sheprd Hermas was preached as true Gospel and then was later retracted. Dosent make any difference to me. Many religions have consistent texts but that dosen't make them true.
@1776iscoming old testimate, new testimate, catholics, protestants, mormans, evevangalists, king james bible (which shakespere helped edit) and the thousands of other christian beleifes.
I'm not sure what your point is? The OT and NT are the complete story of man's fall and God's mercy that He bestowed on undeserving human beings who rebelled against Him. Sin has stained us from the moment we are born, we rebel against God and we all deserve eternity apart from Him. Despite this, God sent His son, Jesus, to take the full wrath upon Himself for the sins of those who would repent and put their faith in Him as the atonement for their sin. God is so good.

I'll agree with the fact that he needs more practice, but I still say that he wasn't a good candidate to start with in this video.

@Numinous123 i don't disagree on any points listed, i think given time he will be adequate at it.

ozmark67 7 months ago
@ozmark67
You can look this up, you know?
Numinous123 6 months ago
The funny thing about biological evolution and religion is that religion is one of the best comparisons to biological evolution. Groups branch off the main religion and change; the main religion changes as well. Protestants came from Catholics in the same way humans came from monkeys (ape-like creatures, to clarify).

What about when sciences conflicts with other sciences does that then prove that science is false and should be ignored?
piusvapor 8 months ago
@piusvapor If in the case that one finding conflicts with another, an inquiries must be made to see what went wrong. Were tests performed properly? Were the instruments or testers malfunctioning? Point is, when dealing with science, we can check against reality. Whether it be the object up close or mathematically etc which is unlike religion. If something is shown to be untrue, then it's dropped and preferably understood why is it wrong. If not, the scientific method would not work.
mistereveready 8 months ago 2
@mistereveready So if something is to be false then it must be categorically and scientifically proven to be so. I maintain that no scientific methods, nor experiments nor mathematics have yet to disprove the existence of God. Where many billions past and present in the world have experienced God in some matter and thus have credibility, until proven scientifically wrong.
piusvapor 8 months ago
@piusvapor If data conflicts then inquiry must be made to as why. If something is established fact (supported by evidence) and later data is found to unroot it, that is a different case. An unfounded assertion like gods doesn't need to be disproved. It first needs to be proved, is else disgarded. If we are using the fallacy of if x people believe it it must be reasonably true. We can also use hindus, fairies, gnomes. If you go off of the abrahamic god, it has many conflicting attributes.
mistereveready 8 months ago
@mistereveready I am sorry but I do not agree with the premise that conflict within any entity disproves its claims.
piusvapor 8 months ago
@piusvapor conflicting data means something is wrong, at best reserve. Problem with gods, is that there is nothing we can actually compare data to. gods are concepts that people pulled out of their ass whenever ignorance looms. With the lack of any effects to measure, or even a coherent definition of what is a god makes disregarding god hypothesis rather easy. Even within religious sects the beliefs vary greatly and do so due to lack of anything real to compare them to.
mistereveready 8 months ago
@piusvapor Yeah... People of all religions "feel" God.. Isn't it possible your just fooling yourself into thinking it's god your feeling when it's actually just a regular feeling?
Anyway you said "I maintain that no scientific methods, nor experiments nor mathematics have yet to disprove the existence of God" You don't see how stupid that is?
I say I have an invisible dragon.. There is no evidence that it's real... But you can't prove it isn't...
So fucking what? Why would you believe me?
bushiyo2 8 months ago
@bushiyo2 There is evidence in the existence of God outside of science's test tube and calculations; in which billions upon billions can attest to. I doubt that your dragon could stand up to that kind of scrutiny. I know this is the "flying spaghetti monster" argument but it really is a poor analogy. A better an analogy would be the God of the bible (and love) vs the used God of world dominance (used by others for manipulation), the later I believe doesn't exist but would be hard to disprove.
piusvapor 8 months ago
@piusvapor If my dragon had a religion, people would feel him much as they claim to feel god.
What scrutiny? Who is looking at religion saying "Can they feel god??"
And when it comes to reason and evidence, no religion has ever been able to stand up to any actual scrutiny.
no scientific methods, nor experiments nor mathematics have yet to prove the existence of God
And people's fucking feelings don't count... Science can't disprove that which had never existed..
Dragons included :/

noiseache 10 months ago
@noiseache I know. I'm just wondering why the poster thinks this.
blagarty 10 months ago
@blagarty The second law of thermodynamics proves that organization cannot flow from chaos. Complex live organisms cannot rearrange themselves into an organism of a higher form as claimed by evolutionists. This is scientifically backwards. Efoolutionists cannot have it both ways.
filoIII 10 months ago
@filoIII Pure BS. Creationists change the definition and the scientific qualification of this law to their own end, so it only violates it with the changed scenario. In rigorous science it doesn't, only when it's being spouted by some apologist who can't take the truth. Creationists; they love the science of medicine when it saves their sick babies but hate it when it shows their fairy tale is a myth.
noiseache 10 months ago
@noiseache I love science. I'll just refer you back to the definition of what science is-observable, testable, repeatable.
filoIII 10 months ago
@filoIII Using the bible as evidence or corroboration of itself is a fallacy. If you're as clever as you suggest you'd know that using bible verses is futile in proper rational discourse.
Why not bring up some proverbs from the 3 Little Pigs story? They're equally valid.
noiseache 10 months ago
@noiseache You're mocking the most scrutinized Book in history. It has stood up to every challenge. The Bible's not a science book, but it contains scientific facts that weren't discovered until hundreds/thousands of yrs later. It's not a book about archaeology, but archaeology has proven it correct everytime. It's not a history book, but it contains historical facts. As it's been said, history is all about HIStory. Do w/ the info what you wish. Those who can't argue facts turn to ridicule.
filoIII 10 months ago
@filoIII And if you were born 6000 miles to the east you'd be giving me the same speech with 'Qur'an' inserted instead of Bible. Good that the one true religion happened to be in your country of birth oh and the most popular! The rest of your post is demonstrably BS. We are slowly coming to realise that most of the stuff in there is metaphorical or allegorical and has no basis in the truth outside of established historical characters and cities corroborated by books outside the bible.
noiseache 10 months ago
@noiseache You don't know that. There are millions in the middle east that are Christians, many are converting everyday. You know what happens when you assume.
filoIII 10 months ago
@filoIII I do know that since I've spent over 30 years studying the subject. It's also common knowledge to those who have checked out what the bible says. The latest pillar to fall is the exodus since there is not a single shred of evidence of people spending 40 years travelling in the desert between Egypt and Israel. Out of 240m people in the ME (not gulf states) only 15 m are Christians and this percentage has been declining for 1000 years since the muslims have more children.
noiseache 10 months ago
@noiseache " Out of 240m people in the ME (not gulf states) only 15 m are Christians and this percentage has been declining for 1000 years since the muslims have more children."--Can't argue w/ that logic. Islam MUST be true. You win.

@filoIII
Numinous123 6 months ago
@Numinous123 So what is the point of efoolution if not to become superior? That IS the point of it. We don't make vitamin K either, so I'm not sure what you're getting at w/ the scurvy comment.
filoIII 6 months ago
The religion of efoolution get more vague as science proves it wrong---everytime
filoIII 10 months ago
@filoIII Science doesn't prove anything, you comment fails at the first hurdle and exposes your misunderstanding of both the subject and test criteria.
noiseache 10 months ago
@noiseache For something to be considered "SCIENCE," if must observed, testable, and repeatable. Macro-efoolution is NONE of those, hence, it's not science. Did I demonstrate an understanding of the subject and test criteria to your satisfaction?
filoIII 10 months ago
@filoIII No, and your assertion is demonstrably false. talkorigins(.)org/faqs/comdesc
Science doesn't prove anything. If forms hypotheses, creates models and they are then tested for falsification. If you want proof, you need to look to mathematics.
noiseache 10 months ago
@filoIII
Numinous123 6 months ago
@Numinous123 Still dogs. Still moths. Still mammals. Still insects. Still bacteria. You may be able to pull the wool over the eyes of some poor sap but not me. Everything reproduces after its own kind, and you can't prove any different try as you may. No transitional forms to be found. Darwin even said throw out his THEORY if none were found w/in 100 yrs. Well, none have been found. Time to dump efoolution already. Unfortunately for you the only other option holds you accountable.
filoIII 6 months ago
@filoIII

NUTCASE71733 6 months ago
@NUTCASE71733 Humans are apes----HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA! Next you'll be saying Archaeopertyx is a reptile w/ feathers.
filoIII 6 months ago
@filoIII
NUTCASE71733 6 months ago
@NUTCASE71733 Dogs produce dogs. Cats produce cats, and we NEVER have nor will see something other than that.
No wonder why you ducked the Archaeopteryx statement.
filoIII 6 months ago
@filoIII Your statement is valid 'within our lifetime'.
Given another million years, and I believe different things will have evolved.
Uberlaser 5 months ago
@filoIII If you're really interested in learning why we biologists believe the things we do, I can show you several examples of transitional forms, but you'll need to go to a research library to find the papers. Interested?
acr08807 5 months ago
@acr08807 "I fully agree with your comments on the lack of direct illustration of evolutionary transitions in my book. If I knew of any, fossil or living, I would certainly have included them."-Dr Colin Patterson, Sr. Paleontologist @ the British Museum of Natural History, when asked why he failed to mention transitional forms in his book. I am DEFINATELY interested how some schlub on youtube claiming to be a biologist says there are transitional forms and this efoolutionist says there's not.
filoIII 5 months ago
@filoIIl I'm glad to see that you accept Patterson's authority on this subject. His Evolution was the first book I ever read on evolutionary theory when I was an undergraduate in biology. Here's what he said there about transitional forms: "In several animal and plant groups, enough fossils are known to bridge the wide gaps between existing types."
acr08807 5 months ago
@filoIII "In mammals, for example, the gap between horses, asses and zebras (genus Equus) and their closest living relatives, the rhinoceroses and tapirs, is filled by an extensive series of fossils extending back sixty-million years to a small animal, Hyracotherium, which can only be distinguished from the rhinoceros-tapir group by one or two horse-like details of the skull.
acr08807 5 months ago
@filoIII "There are many other examples of fossil 'missing links', such as Archaeopteryx, the Jurassic bird which links birds with dinosaurs (Fig. 45), and Ichthyostega, the late Devonian amphibian which links land vertebrates and the extinct choanate (having internal nostrils) fishes. . . . Fossils may tell us many things, but one thing they can never disclose is whether they were ancestors of anything else."
acr08807 5 months ago
@filoIII That's what Patterson discussed in his letter to Sunderland. He said that you can and do see forms that bridge gaps between species, but you can never be sure that any individual fossil was in fact from a species that was an ancestor of another species. I highly recommend that you read Patterson's book if you want a good picture of how evolution by natural selection works and, at least in outline, the evidence that leads us biologists to accept it.
acr08807 5 months ago
@acr08807 After all that mumbo-jumbo, the fact remains that he still said there's no transitional forms. You efoolutionists strain soooooo hard to suck a camel thru a straw.
filoIII 5 months ago
@filoIII He did NOT say that there are no transitional forms. He said you can't point to a specific fossil and say this is the ancestor of some other specific species. Again, read his book and you'll understand. You'll find that scientific debate and scientific progress are fueled by much more sophisticated arguments than childish analogies to camels and straws.
acr08807 5 months ago
@acr08807 I gave you the quote of him saying he's not aware of any transitional form being found Do w/ it what you wish.
filoIII 5 months ago
@filoIII Sorry, I thought you were really interested in understanding evolutionary theory before criticizing it, but you just like to find quotes on Internet sites. So sad.

I wonder why those stopped happening when we developed reliable recording methods...hmm.
hellhammerz666 11 months ago
@1776iscoming Christians get ridiculed not because atheists somehow fail to grasp the magical reality gullibility (aka faith) seems to open to weak-minded believers, but because they base their lifes upon mediocre explainations about the universe crafted by primitive middle eastern savages with no understanding about anything at all. Every fucking religion has a made up bullshit story of their own, what tells you yours is more real? Not all can be right, but all can be wrong.
hellhammerz666 11 months ago
@hellhammerz666
Beside my personal experiences and relationship with God, the ridiculous accuracy of biblical prophecy was the biggest thing that convinced me that the bible was the true word of God. Watching world events unfold before our eyes that were prophecied thousands of years ago is amazing!
1776iscoming 11 months ago
@1776iscoming Of course. Self fulfilling prophecy is extremely amazing, indeed.
Just that....it's not, specially when it's being forced by a bunch of crazy shithead fanatics who can't wait to see the grand finale of it all: "the rapture!".
I'd be thrilled about it too if it got the world rid of religious nuts, but that plague is worse than fucking mosquitoes.
hellhammerz666 11 months ago
@hellhammerz666
1776iscoming 11 months ago
@1776iscoming The world events today could happen as well under a normal cycle of the planet. Add man-made stuff like global warming into the equation and you'll surely have a recipe for disaster that any shitty holy book can envy. Just because some ancient cryptic texts contain stuff that can be reinterpreted at will by faithmongers, doesn't mean these primitive middle eastern savages had any revealed truths. Heck, they could as well say "tomorrow will rain", and hold the same relevance.
hellhammerz666 11 months ago
@hellhammerz666
lol, ok. It's all a massive coincidence.
1776iscoming 11 months ago
@1776iscoming It all gets even crazier when you have a bunch of religious lemmings making these things happen. Why do you think so many wars happen over this? These idiots can't wait for their myths to come true, so they do whatever they can to make these things happen. It's sad they don't even realize how self-fulfilling this has become. I wouldn't have any problem if they did it in their corner of the world, but unfortunately they drag us all into their stupid myths, so it's a public concern.
hellhammerz666 11 months ago
@1776iscoming In the same way these "bible scholars" have twisted the cryptic contents of the bible to suit their own greedy agendas, you can twist any book to say whatever the fuck you want it to say. If you buy into this shit only because you are scared of your imaginary friend's wrath, I'm afraid you're beyond any hope of mental restoration, so enjoy your gullibility.
hellhammerz666 11 months ago
@hellhammerz666
No, I'm not afraid of God's wrath, I've put my faith in Jesus to cover my sins, I'm justified before God. I'm no longer appointed to God's wrath, I'm no longer His enemy.
1776iscoming 11 months ago
@1776iscoming Funny. Sin doesn't even exist. It's a biased perspective made up by self righteous middle eastern sheepherders to satanize that which they didn't agree with. This sin bullshit was crafted to control people. What the heck makes you think finite crimes deserve eternal punishment? And that's even considering blasphemy and apostasy are even crimes. In reality, these are victimless crimes, because the victim hasn't even been proven to exist (your imaginary god. What a waste for a life.
hellhammerz666 11 months ago
@1776iscoming Keeping that in mind, your faith is rendered useless. It's a needless artifact crafted by faithmongers to keep others in line. Even worse, it makes a virtue out of gullibility, while deliberately undermining our intellect, and making a defect out of skepticism and inquiry. Their so called "morals" are nothing more than a checklists of things they don't like, therefore want to punish. When asked for reasonable justification for this, they cower behind "it's god's will". So sad..
hellhammerz666 11 months ago
@hellhammerz666
If you repeat it enough times, some day, you may convince yourself enough that you make actually believe it. There are no morals without God. And don't even dare claiming your imaginary friend secretly controls me to not fuck up.
hellhammerz666 11 months ago
@1776iscoming If you actually need an imaginary policeman to keep you from doing stupid shit that most of us simply know are wrong by common sense, you wouldn't only be a fucking hypocrite, but a stupid one as well. Morals don't come from gods or other imaginations, they come from being social beings, accountable to almost 7billion people on this earth. You claim believers have higher moral highground, but go check for some criminal statistics in jails. Atheist population there is minimal.
hellhammerz666 11 months ago
@hellhammerz666
1776iscoming 11 months ago

1776iscoming 11 months ago

@1776iscoming - Really? So, exactly when is Russia going to invade Israel?
mnkittel 11 months ago
(cont'd) going to get much worse my friend. Just thought I'd tell you these things so you'll remember them and God will be glorified when you find out, we're not the ones that are crazy. God bless.

@1776iscoming - Name one such prophecy. Don't generalize, be specific about which prophecies were "ridiculously accurate." And then demonstrate that such "prophecies" were actually made prior to the events they supposedly predicted, not after. And then demonstrate that the reason the prophecies came true was because of God, and not some other more plausible reason.

I truly do not say this to insult but merely speak the truth: Anyone who doesn't believe evolution to be true despite the mass of irrefutable evidence is an idiot and anyone who believes in god despite the overwhelming lack of evidence is delusional.

eternity with Him. God bless
1776iscoming 1 year ago
@1776iscoming "There is no difference between you and I, only that I have humbled myself, repented and put my faith in Christ" Tell me, what does that mean, you've humbled yourself, you've put your faith in christ, how does that make you a person worthy of heaven as opposed to me? If we are both good, kind-hearted people, do I really deserve god's wrath merely because I'm using my brain and reason and do not see any evidence for your god?
83Hammerhead 1 year ago
@1776iscoming Why would god give me something (reason, free-will) and then punish me or refuse to reward me for using what he gave me? For not being gullible and believe in bronze-age stories written down by desert-dwelling people who had some barbaric ideas about morality? You claim that heaven and hell are real and the only evidence you can provide for this is an old book of myths...and you think you've found some greater truth.
83Hammerhead 1 year ago
@83Hammerhead
You are choosing to spend eternity away from God, so in essence it's not a punishment.
1776iscoming 1 year ago
@1776iscoming I'm not choosing what I believe. I believe what makes sense to my mind. I've looked into the claims of various religions and find neither superior morality nor sufficient evidence for a god or gods. I would have to actively force myself to believe in a god, in essence I would be cheating myself and god because reason and rational thought (my personal thoughts) tell me that I don't believe. That is not a choice. I'm just being true to myself.
83Hammerhead 1 year ago
@1776iscoming If your god exists, and everybody "knows" of him, then why are there multiple religions in the world as opposed to one? How do you know your religion is the correct religion? All men are born atheist, and have to be "educated (i use this lightly)" of his existence. Some of use choose to believe, some of us question and seek the truth. I'll seek the truth, and find it. I suggest you question the world around you and look for yourself, you may find you were wrong all along.

@1776iscoming Are you real?
ChiefRepublic 1 year ago 51
@ChiefRepublic
Completely serious, why do you ask?
1776iscoming 1 year ago

(Exodus 21:20-21 NAB)
you can have it.

@moh490234890238490
The bible has been translated into modern english and different languages from the original greek and hebrew texts multiple times. There are many solid translations out there, there are also mistranslations.
1776iscoming 11 months ago
@1776iscoming and there are verses that were added and gospels that were removed. So yes the bible has changed.
moh490234890238490 11 months ago
@moh490234890238490
No, there were not gospels removed, I'm sure you're talking about thomas and judas which have been proven to be totally fraudulent. Nobody, outside of those trying to discredit Christianity, even mention them anymore.
1776iscoming 11 months ago
@1776iscoming Gospel of Barnabas and the Shepherd of Hermas Many ppl lived there lives beleiveing in these gospels and then they were removed. Just like the Anglican no longer believe in hell and the Catholics got rid of the notion of limbo. Its a joke
moh490234890238490 11 months ago
@moh490234890238490
They were never removed, they have been reviewed and dismissed because there are not credible accounts. This isn't new, this has been resolved for years. I have never read "the sheperd of Hermas", I will, but I have read the others, so I'm not just saying this with no knowledge of them.
1776iscoming 11 months ago
@1776iscoming The Sheprd Hermas was preached as true Gospel and then was later retracted. Dosent make any difference to me. Many religions have consistent texts but that dosen't make them true.
