There was no better sound than a full field of 500cc two strokes racing and no better spectacle to watch also. People say how good the new 4 strokes are but how fast would a 500cc two stroke be now if they had kept making them and put the same development into them that the 4 strokes have had, they stopped developing them a while before they stopped making them because all the pussies wouldn't by them anymore because they couldn't cope with the power they put out. The 4 strokes sound shit.

@ 5.04 Jeff Leisk. I was something like 8-10 years old when my dad took me to see him race as a 18 year old kid in a place called broadford here in Australia. US rider called Chuck Sun was the favourite to win and Jeff blew his pegs off...Before Chad reed there was Jeff Leisk.....!!!!! Amazing rider.....

I bought a used '05 CR500AF (real deal from Service Honda) with 20 hours on it. Have had it for two seasons. It is THE best bike I've ever owned, hands down. It puts my 450's to shame, turns with my RM250, and is the funnest bike I've ever ridden.

Ahhh yesss. The best years in motocross. To the guy that said rick Johnson was GOAT. No way, as it was David Bailey. He was the absolute best and beat Johnson In almost every race. Until his paralysis in 1987. It's a shame.

@Ireg2post1 I agree i cant stand the FRRRPPPPPTTTT sound of those crappy four strokes...plus you fall over when its hot and forget trying to restart it....i still think of inventing a throw away can thats attached to your arm with velcro..with a sharp point on the end and full of propane..or ether.( not sure the spelling)..any way stab the side of your carb..on a four stroke after you have dumped it..fill the air case full of it and kick it over...

what a rush ! i rode a 2-stroke bike today... for the first time in years and it was awesome, the explosive snap of power is like nothing else. i love my 4 stroke, but MAN... that was FUN ! great video.

my brother in law use to race a kx500 out there and all over the desert, he chased Danny Hamil(RIP) trying to beat him till my bro in law broke his hip at glen helen and during his recovery Danny Hamil died because of some dumb beaner in mexico at the 1000!

I was at this race as a spectator! O'mara's last big american race, was trying to be the only rider to win all 3 different USGP's. Last lap of moto 1 Geboers puked in his helmet while holding ofhim off. O'show pushed him SO hard but just couldn't get enough to get by him and was a few feet short at the finish. He was VERY frustrated in between motos. Moto 2, Matiasevich rode that 500m like a crazed 125cc lunatic, butilt a huge lead at 20 min., but the moto was 40min + 1 lap...and he fried....
