I started watching Clannad in 2009. A friend of mine told me that Nagisa would die, ruining the series for me. So I took two years to mentally and emotionally prepare myself for this scene. December of 2011, I watched this scene, and I cried relentlessly. These characters, they become more than characters, they become friends, and their issues effect you as if you are in the world with them. You can't emotionally wall yourself off from people you love and care for, even if they are fiction.

this anime got me so close to crying the first time i watched it. i was able to supress the feelings to a tolerable level though, i managed to turn it into anger since i was in disbeliefe that they actually had her die when i had been telling my computer that she had better not die for atleast two episodes before that. god i was a ball of emotions. this doesn't effect me the same way anymore but it stil leaves a not in my heart so i watch it from time to time. god i miss listening to Dango dango

so in other words, the only happy ending to any of them is the one in the last ep of after story

Take a look at the mid-wife helping Nagisa to give birth to Ushio. The mid-wife there is actually a friend of Sanae's from high school, which would classify them as being at around the same age... except Sanae looks not much older than her own daughter...

@Z4turn: It turned time back to where she was given birth and she lived. See Tomoya had a wish he could either walk past her to wish they never met OR to have his family back and Nigisa survives. Like Nigisa says A big Dango family and that's what it became because the friends they made was like a family. Maybe not always there but they do come to visit and lets not forget Fuko and her sister and husband they are family too. I love the happy ending so very much that I cried tears of happiness.

Some people were disappointed and I too thought it didn't make sense but then I finally got it and much preffered Clannad to have a nice ending than a sad ending. It was pretty depressing all the way through so it deserved it.
