  • it's very very beautiful

  • Shortly after this John Williams ascended to heaven in a brilliant column of light...

  • Happy Birthday John Williams....your music moves the heart of anyone who listens....

  • Love this music as John Williams is a pure genius and THE BEST Composer out there if ever there was one!

  • この曲大好きです。

  • ME ENCANTO ESA CEREMONIA, ES LA MEJOR HASTA AHORA, MEJOR QUE LA DE BEIJING, OJALA SUBIERAN LA PARTE DONDE SALEN MUCHOS PORRISTAS Y CAMIONETAS, ESA PARTE ESTA PADRISIMA

  • Sei un grandissimo!

  • John Williams = Legend

  • Simply espetacular !!!

  • great music. As for the display though, China's show in 2004 completely crushed this.

  • @henrynation You are absolutely right. But Beijing Olympics was held in 2008...not 2004.

  • John Williams IS the man! right up there with John P. Sousa and Gustav Holst and the Other Greats. There is a special place in Heaven for them all.

  • Sadest day ever is when he dies.

  • @mbmaccin555555 Everything must end.. but the important part is not the ending.. it's what you do before that that is most important!

And this man has inspired MILLIONS.

Not just with the thrill of his music, but with the technical challenge of playing it.

I will mourn the day of his passing like a brother but I will also celebrate, because of all the gifts of power and inspiration he has given us all (musicians and non-musicians alike)

  • go trumpets!

  • Among the greatest living composers alive today!

  • @art65max Among the greatest living? He IS the greatest living composer today.

  • Fantastic!

  • The genius of John Williams paired with this mess of an opening....

  • How come the USA got the Olympics twice within twelve years?

  • @rohansrider Don't forget the Salt Lake City Olympics, too.

  • @rohansrider Why not, it had been 52 years betw the L.A. Olympics... then Atlanta.. Another US Olympic summer games is nowhere in sight... Interestingly, in 1932, both the Summer and Winter games were in the US.

  • @irish89055 L.A. had the Summer games in 1984, so only 12 years were between the U.S. hosting the summer games, not 52.

  • @vfplayer Read above..... someone asked why did the US get the Olympics twice in 12 years and that was my reply..

  • @rohansrider - It's called Bidding!

  • @danimal632 he never really credits anyone.

  • can you upload the complete opening and closing ceremonies? please... atlanta is my favorite.

  • @czarnikko05 You can view them in their entirety on the official Olympic site. Heck, you can watch all of them (or at least the ones that were filmed).

  • what key is this in??

  • @ca5tr0100 C major

  • Simplemente excelente!, no sabia que John estuvo presente en Atlanta 1996.

    saludos desde Lima Perú.

  • Two people are villains, and are therefore afraid of summoning the heroes.

  • im playing this song for band!

  • il piu grande compositore degli utlimi 50 anni.

  • 2 People R losers who don't know music and will always still listen to geebees, which are sooooo 11th century!

  • Epic

  • Played this song 10 years ago as part of my university band. Still have a recording on CD.

  • JOHN WILLIAMS!!!!!! :DDDDDD

  • The video jumps at 1:47 - the climax - my favorite part. It gives me chills and always makes me think of flying. I am a major J.W. fan!

  • please tell me he credited Aaron Copland when he wrote this

  • @danimal632 thank you, i heard some very distinct Copland styles in there

  • awww, it would have been awesome if the the cut actually included the last note of that phrase :( it would have been perfect..........oh well, it was awe inspiring anyways :)

  • John Williams é magnífico

  • Nobody writes an Olympic theme quite like John Williams. Hope he gets to write the theme for the 2012 Olympics here in Britain.

  • Love this! I remember hearing it when he introduced it, and I was just six! lol (though this appears to be an edited soundtrack over the video-excellent quality though!)

  • @vysetheblurogue your right its missing exactly three minutes. they skipped the best part to, the trombones playing 32nd note triplets with those showoffy trunpets.

  • John Williams is a musical genius
