Don Felder only wrote the guitar riff, Don Henley, and Glenn Frey did the vocals and drum arrangements. It wasn't just Felder who wrote this song. Also, I don't know what it is about people ripping on Steuart Smith but Steuart deserves just as much respect as Felder did. I'm a huge Eagles fan and I watch alot of their interviews. It depends on how old you are. I liked the original Eagles with Leadon,Felder and Meisner. SanDisk's review of the skills these guys to the table are spot on. Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmitt are not Eagles in my opinion. Walsh is a very talented guitarist but he just apes the work that Felder created. Walsh's best stuff was with The James Gang. Don Felder is an excellent musician but he himself has said on video that he had only the first part of the music. He played it for Frey and Henley and they liked it. The music is Felder okay? But it took a team effort of Felder, Frey, and Henley to come up with all the parts of the song that would become Hotel California. Felder did not finish it by himself. It also took the great harmony parts to give it that special sound. I think drugs and booze split the Eagles. They talk about it.

The guitar parts are essential to the song but there needs to drum and harmony to make it an Eagles song. Felder was the catalyst, the spark plug for that song. Without his initial input it would never have come into existence. But it is not his alone in its finished form.

Felder wrote Hotel California as music, it took a team effort with him, Glen, and Don H. to bring the words that most of the world has come to love. The Eagles hired Felder because they were going nowhere and needed a Rock Edge to their Sound. His contribution gave them the Succes they never had. He also gave them Hotel California!!! He also gave us Tom Petty (his Guitar Teacher). Your an average IDIOT at best! IMHO

going nowhere...u tit. their greates hits album contains songs written by henley and frey apart from two song that felder played strum on it is a completely early eagles piece and it is the biggest selling album in american history. to say they were going nowhere is pathetic they wanted a rock guitarist to continue what they were doing it was a progression and consequentally that move lost them fan who preffered a grass roots edge just as you prefer felder. now people prefer the new eagles.

what, no suits?? In Europe they had the style to wear black suits and white shirts and ties on their LROOE tour. I saw them in Rotterdam, April 1st, and they were great!!
